@@-dystopic- it depends on the make but also really on the honey. There are always jokes that you can't tell what was used to make a drink. For instance, someone made a Bourbon-taste-alike with grass because of corn content laws. In Mead, you can taste the difference between spanish and portugese honey and early summer vs late summer. In good mead, you could probably taste how pretentious the beekeepers are.
@@-dystopic- In my opinion, it's so good. Get past the Viking craze, forget about trying to drink it to connect with your heathen ancestors. Just give it a try, see if you like it, and if you do, welcome to drinking meads.
Yep, it's refreshingly sweet, but not too sweet that makes you want to gag. Surprisingly a good alcoholic beverage for newcomers that hate bitters drink like beer etc. When I was in HS and College, i used to make a couple gallons of mead and just forget it for the next semester/year. Easy to make, fun to drink, and fit to most people's pallette
@@-dystopic- if you want to make your own mead i suggest to use the "basic" recipe that is the 1/3 rule. That mean for every one part honey, the two part is water. From there you can try putting other ingredients that you like, for example ginger, aromatic, and even fruit (for the fruit part it's kinda different because you want to put it like way later so it's not rotten when the mead fermented). When I'm in highschool I'm using an airlock and mineral water bottle. Drink the water and leave it 2/3 then add honey and slap the airlock. But for safety reason, you should use a new and clean container and boil the water first to purify it before adding the honey and the wine yeast. Shake it and leave then forget it until you remember that you stack a ton of mead in the closet in the next 7 months lol
An ex girlfriend bought me a bottle for my birthday. It's very good, like wine but sweeter, but not overly sweet and with enough proof to be worth it. So in my experience: very good, highly recommend.
Expectation: vikings drank mead, that must be some hardcore stuff.
Reality: yummy.
Think I'll try some, hell might get into the hobby😋
You should I had fun@@sunzhu2762
I absolutely love making and tasting meads. Its fascinating how similar to wine some dry meads are.

Is it nice? I’ve never had it but would love to try it one day.
@@-dystopic- i think it depends on your taste. I love it but i got friends who can't stand how sweet it can be
@@angrydragonslayer right. So it’s really sweet, is it?

Does mead taste good? I’ve always wanted to try it but have never had the chance.
@@-dystopic-in my experience, yes it's good. It's similar to wine but sweeter and often stronger.
