Good explanation, but there's one thing missing: for both Prisma and plusvalenze investigations Juve got punished by the italian football federation based on the accusations from the civil investigations which still have to go on trial. So in the end Juve and its representatives might end up not being charged with anything, yet the club has already been harshly punished by the uefa and the italian football federation. Also something that never added up in the whole situation is that it takes at least two clubs to do these transfers and yet only Juventus got punished.
The punishment for the "two clubs required" Plusvalenza accusations was revoked by the courts. The only thing where the punishment was upheld was the wage manipulation (prisma), and there is no other club required to lie about your wages.
Indeed, what @callejonization said is correct. It is ridiculous that a team got punished when a transaction is necessarily made by two actors. All this situation has been build up in order to destroy Juventus as a Company, while other Italian team (Inter Milan, Milan, AS Roma among others) didn't receive any kind of punishment for big red in the accounting. Great explanation, but it fails to explain how corrupt the Italian system is and how this whole plot is in part as a punishment for the super league project, firstly ceferin feeling betrayed by his very good friend agnelli and gravina being an interista and actually enjoying bringing juventus down… at the end of those case couldn’t be confirmed so the charged juventus with disrespecting football and deducted 10 points…. I still do not fully understand, why Juventus got punished in the case Plusvalenza. They were following basic accounting principles, I get the thing that it seems logic they were inflating the prices to look better in the books (good luck to prove it) but at the end, the price is determined after how much the buyer is willing to pay. Was Juventus looking for loopholes to make the numbers look better for FFP? Sure, but as far as there is no limit on swap deals, what did they against the rules? Or is there a limit ? It is not mentioned in the video. For me it looks like finding loopholes and UEFA has the obligation to close them, for example with limitation of swap deals. Even with the example given in the video - if it wasn't a swap with Barca, but buying from.Barca for 72 (and amortising it over the length of the contract) and selling to other club for 60, it seems everything would have been fine? I'll argue that nearly all players today are overvalued; Antony, Maguire, Enzo, Caicedo,Rice, Grealish, Mudryk, Hojlund, all Man Utd signings over the last 4yrsvetc, the list can go on and on... There's no objective standard for olayer valuation rather than what the buyer is willing to pay. There needs to be a body regulating these valuations I still don't see what Juventus did wrong
The league/UEFA had issues with Juve's profits from player sales. Some think it's payback for the Super League, as the teams Juve supposedly worked with haven't been penalized. Italian teams got creative with accounting, but Juve's ongoing Super League support, post-English teams' withdrawal, brought scrutiny and evidence interception. Without Juve's push for the Super League, these problems might not have occurred...
Of course it's politics, what else can it be? Why else is FIFA known for "blackjack and hookers"? Why else are referee calls shady and inconsistent? UEFA and FIFA look to gain so much from TV revenue, so much from controversy surrounding things like the "Super League" that they LOOK to do whatever they need to to generate money.
Really poorly researched video with multiple inaccuracies. 1. The wage scandal was never about paying the players off the books, rather about postponing the wages during Covid period. Players gave up 4 months of salary and signed an agreement to receive 3 months salary back later. Italian authorities only intervened because timing of the announcement of players receiving 3 months of salary was in different financial year than the 4 month deduction. 2. Juventus were punished only for plusvalenza scandal with points. For the salary case, they were fined 700,000 euros by the Italian authorities, and were made to sign an agreement that they would not challenge the plusvalenza points deduction in higher courts for compensation against FIGC. 3. The plusvalenza scandal was something that there is still no rule against. If Juve bought Arthur for 70 million, they would continue paying 14 million depreciation on him for 5 years. Its not a money making operation, just distributes the cost over financial years. Multiple clubs within Serie A still do this without any punishment (see Osimhen transfer from Lille for 3 youth players rated 30 million +40 million cash).

Tifo Football recently came out about how a club's financial structure works, and I think they talked about looking less at the transfer fees (here it really doesn't matter, didn't the video say it ended up being 12 mil reported vs 14 mil actually?) and more about wages. For example, paying 14 million for a striker whom you have to pay 250k a week for seems like a great deal because you had to pay *only* 14 mil to get him, but that 250k a week means you're paying him 13 mil a year, so you actually paid 28mil to get him. But then, that 28mil is divided over the length of his contract. This is still to say, if you had him on a 4 year contract, the "value" of this player isn't just 14mil/4 years = 3.5mil per year, but rather around 7mil per year, because of his wages. I think that's what Tifo missed here, and it's very weird and interesting that they would miss this given they made the video on wage structure a month ago. In short, what really matters, financially, is did the wage structure change?
Should’ve investigated further guys and ask the obvious question: Why Juve was punished and Barca not even investigated in the Pjanic-Arthur deal? Again, there was also the Cancelo-Danilo deal with City which was mentioned as well in the case as one of the examples that proved Juve’s wrongdoings. Why City not guilty? Juve perhaps didn't challenged the UEFA comps ban as even if the ban was lifted, still they wouldn't have played any UeFA comp courtesy their position on the points table due to the points deduction. Without that deduction, had they been 2nd, then they'd have surely appealed against the ban as CL money is quite useful for the clubs. Also atleatst this punishment would pacify the like of Ceferin who they have antagonized due to all the Super League push.

The real reason Juventus was punished was because it was a witch-hunt against them. Serie A has hated Juventus for a long time and they consistently show bias against them every chance they get. The lead person in the case against Juve was a self admitted Napoli fan and openly spoke of his hatred of Juve. And UEFA has had an axe to grind against Juve ever since they were involved with the Super League. Both organizations saw this as an opportunity to make Juve hurt. When it comes to the transfer fees, it takes two clubs to make a deal, and if Juve were trying make an inflated deal then the other club would refuse it. But both sides were agreeable to each club and if both clubs concluded to inflate the transfer fee to help both of their books, then Juventus should not have been the only club punished. UEFA even threatened Juventus that if they don’t drop out of the Super League they would be banned from European competitions. Juve dropped out of the Super League and UEFA still banned them. Both Serie A and UEFA are incredibly corrupt and the rules are only arbitrary enforced.

The explanation of the Prisma case you Made is very misleading.. Juventus wasn’t even accused of paying wages off the book, which would be tax evasion and impossible to defend. What really happened was that they Made public declaration of players renouncing up to 4 months of salary unless certain event happened (Covid related) allowing them to lift such expenses from the balance as unsure. In reality though they agreed with the players they only renounced 1 month, and the other 3 were gonna be paid in any case, which should have put these 3 months as sure debts in the balance, which should have looked worse in that case.

I'm sure there are many many more people out there that know much more than I do, but in the end it seems like this was finally UEFA's way of getting Juventus to drop from the super league project. In my opinion, a clear indicator of this was the timing of Juve's 10 point deduction last season. Juventus were given the 10 point deduction on May 22nd, an hour prior to their kickoff before the Empoli game. However, the deadline for this verdict wasn't for another month or two later. The reason why it was settled so much sooner than the deadline was because UEFA needed to know league placements in order to understand what teams would be in each UEFA competition for the following season before the domestic seasons came to a close. With that being said, UEFA forced the FIGC's hand and rushed this verdict. On top of that, UEFA were also holding their own investigation in regard to these issues, and were almost certainly going to disqualify juventus from any UEFA competition regardless of juventus' final placement in the table or FIGC's verdict. Simply put, even if there were no points deducted and Juventus finished 2nd in the league, UEFA would have still disqualified juventus from the champions league, so this point deduction was almost like killing two birds with 1 stone. In the end, it seems like Agnelli's involvement in the super league has left Juventus and it's fans (myself included) in a position that will be difficult to climb out of for the next couple years (hopefully it's only a couple of years)
I forgot to include the part where UEFA had threatened a multiple year suspension on Juve from UEFA competitions, that would be decreased if they dropped out of super league involvement. This plea bargain alone seems like UEFA's objective all along was to get Juventus (The club with the board that arguably supported the super league the most) to leave the super league. It appears that this was UEFA's endgame all along, especially when you examine their sense of urgency when it comes to investigating other clubs with similar, if not worse allegations in regard to FFP.
I love it how no other team was investigated, and also... meanwhile Chelsie pays billions in transfers, and is in compliance with FFP, Manchester City too, and of course PSG.. ridiculous vendetta.

Player transfer value is based on the agreement between two clubs. There really is not some third party that can determine what the player transfer value is or inflated player value. The transfer value is what the two clubs agree.
I fully disagree. If the player is going to be treated as a company asset with a value of 72 million euros, third parties need to exist to control that this valuation is real as to not incur in artificially inflating the values of your assets to make you look less indebted. How is that not accounting fraud? You might as well say your toyota corolla is worth 2 million euros therefore you're a millionaire. Who would actually agree to your valuation if not for someone else looking to do accounting fraud too? Would a bank agree that your toyota corolla is worth that much as to offer you a 3 million dollar loan with the car as a guarantee? I think not. Juventus has negotiated with Italian Football Jurisdiction for Prisma, therefore admitting the crime despite whatever they say to the press. Therefore they were deducted 10 points and fined 750k euros by Serie A, but the request in first trial was the relegation. This is also why the did not appeal to the penalty they’ve been given.

That's not how it works. Sale prices are like any high money transaction subject to financial regulations. These exist mostly to protect the public (as in you and me) from bankers, traders other rich people and their money managers damaging the economy, and are supposed to create an incentive structure for book keepers, to not let individual risks infect the wider economy. What happens when these regulations are too loose? Well, remember the 2008 banking crash and the subsequent global economic crisis? There are many many examples. These rules are obscure to most, because most people deal only with their personal money and not big money business transactions, but these rules are important to ensure a functioning economy. If you artificially inflate assets, then you might be in violation of financial regulations. This is a very specific case in football, but in other fields of the economy, people might actually go to jail if they purposely assign false valuations to their assets. If banks or investors buy you business, and you valuated your land and property 10 million Euros, but then it comes out its only worth 1 million Euros, you will get sued, prosecuted, the whole works. The only reason why the punishment for Plusvalenza was revoked is, because it could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, that the clubs actually colluded to inflate the player sales prices. That doesn't mean clubs with swap deals can just make up fantasy numbers.
for clarity, juventus reached an agreement with uefa to be voluntarily excluded from the conference league. it's not the same as being banned they wanted to please uefa and not be banned for future seasons
Easy. Sell player: 100% of player value counts in your favor in FFP. Buy player: Only a fraction (1 divided by the number of years the contract lasts) counts against you in FFP. Therefore the incentive to create high value transactions in swap deals, the purchase is a problem only years down the road, the sale is instant bonus.

Why wasn't there a ban on transfers? The use of player transfers was the mechanism to cheat. Whatever happened to the investigation to signing underage players? Barcelona (1 yr), Atlético(1 yr), Real Madrid (6 mo.) and the Spanish FA were found guilty violating Fifa transfer rules of youth players and there was going to be punishment for the rest of Europe. Six years later, the Spanish big 3 were only European clubs "guilty" of youth player transfers....
I feel for Juve The plusvalenza comes out in the wash over the players contract anyway, it was short term book balancing to get through a period of difficulty created by the Italian government. The Italian sporting system and uefa should have had some leniency, given they created a situation where clubs were losing money hand over fist weekly during covid. I'm not saying people should have been allowed at games during this time, but the rule makers should accept that their actions also ruined or nearly ruined the livelihoods of many, then they turn around and punish you for trying to make it work, even though you found a loophole in the rules, they manipulated the rules in a very savvy way, and are not the only ones.

You forgot to mention that they weren’t punished for breaking any financial rules (because there were none) the prosecutor / court used article 4, which is for sporting disloyalty (no definition for what that is) - but it can have whatever punishment they deem “suitable “

In Italy the prosecutor wanted a 9 point deduction but the committee decided on 15 points before the Napoli game and then reversed shortly after, they then resubmitted the claim and decided for 10 points the weekend juventus was going to play Napoli again.

@@IVIRnathanreilly It wasn't proven by UEFA. It was thrown out by CAS. Only a small number of the charges were time-barred and they were largely the same as the charges that were thrown out. Loads were heard by CAS any every single one of them came back 'insufficient evidence.' The only thing that got upheld was failing to cooperate with UEFA, which they stopped doing after private documents were being leaked to the press by UEFA. It's amazing how everything thinks UEFA is corrupt to the core, but as soon as they attack a team you don't like (i.e. are jealous of) you're suddenly all UEFA fanboys.
From Plusvalenza? Juve got away with it too. The supposed punishment was revoked by the courts, because the collusion to inflate assets could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Good explanation, but there's one thing missing: for both Prisma and plusvalenze investigations Juve got punished by the italian football federation based on the accusations from the civil investigations which still have to go on trial. So in the end Juve and its representatives might end up not being charged with anything, yet the club has already been harshly punished by the uefa and the italian football federation.
Also something that never added up in the whole situation is that it takes at least two clubs to do these transfers and yet only Juventus got punished.
The punishment for the "two clubs required" Plusvalenza accusations was revoked by the courts. The only thing where the punishment was upheld was the wage manipulation (prisma), and there is no other club required to lie about your wages.

I still do not fully understand, why Juventus got punished in the case Plusvalenza. They were following basic accounting principles, I get the thing that it seems logic they were inflating the prices to look better in the books (good luck to prove it) but at the end, the price is determined after how much the buyer is willing to pay. Was Juventus looking for loopholes to make the numbers look better for FFP? Sure, but as far as there is no limit on swap deals, what did they against the rules? Or is there a limit ? There's no objective standard for olayer valuation rather than what the buyer is willing to pay. There needs to be a body regulating these valuations

1. The wage scandal was never about paying the players off the books, rather about postponing the wages during Covid period. Players gave up 4 months of salary and signed an agreement to receive 3 months salary back later. Italian authorities only intervened because timing of the announcement of players receiving 3 months of salary was in different financial year than the 4 month deduction.
2. Juventus were punished only for plusvalenza scandal with points. For the salary case, they were fined 700,000 euros by the Italian authorities, and were made to sign an agreement that they would not challenge the plusvalenza points deduction in higher courts for compensation against FIGC.
3. The plusvalenza scandal was something that there is still no rule against. If Juve bought Arthur for 70 million, they would continue paying 14 million depreciation on him for 5 years. Its not a money making operation, just distributes the cost over financial years. Multiple clubs within Serie A still do this without any punishment (see Osimhen transfer from Lille for 3 youth players rated 30 million +40 million cash).
It just comes to show how most of "financial" videos about football just drown in the ocean the moment you start scrutinizing them with a bit of knowledge in economics and such. This video is just so poorly researched, we won't get mad at you tifo if you have to fix your sink or have to do stuff outside of youtube but this video is just so... empty.

Tifo Football recently came out about how a club's financial structure works, and I think they talked about looking less at the transfer fees (here it really doesn't matter, didn't the video say it ended up being 12 mil reported vs 14 mil actually?) and more about wages. For example, paying 14 million for a striker whom you have to pay 250k a week for seems like a great deal because you had to pay *only* 14 mil to get him, but that 250k a week means you're paying him 13 mil a year, so you actually paid 28mil to get him. But then, that 28mil is divided over the length of his contract. This is still to say, if you had him on a 4 year contract, the "value" of this player isn't just 14mil/4 years = 3.5mil per year, but rather around 7mil per year, because of his wages. I think that's what Tifo missed here, and it's very weird and interesting that they would miss this given they made the video on wage structure a month ago.
In short, what really matters, financially, is did the wage structure change?
Should’ve investigated further guys and ask the obvious question: Why Juve was punished and Barca not even investigated in the Pjanic-Arthur deal? Again, there was also the Cancelo-Danilo deal with City which was mentioned as well in the case as one of the examples that proved Juve’s wrongdoings. Why City not guilty? Juve perhaps didn't challenged the UEFA comps ban as even if the ban was lifted, still they wouldn't have played any UeFA comp courtesy their position on the points table due to the points deduction. The real reason Juventus was punished was because it was a witch-hunt against them. Serie A has hated Juventus for a long time and they consistently show bias against them every chance they get. And UEFA has had an axe to grind against Juve ever since they were involved with the Super League. Both organizations saw this as an opportunity to make Juve hurt. But both sides were agreeable to each club and if both clubs concluded to inflate the transfer fee to help both of their books, then Juventus should not have been the only club punished. UEFA even threatened Juventus that if they don’t drop out of the Super League they would be banned from European competitions. Juve dropped out of the Super League and UEFA still banned them. Both Serie A and UEFA are incredibly corrupt and the rules are only arbitrary enforced.

The explanation of the Prisma case you Made is very misleading.. Juventus wasn’t even accused of paying wages off the book, which would be tax evasion and impossible to defend. What really happened was that they Made public declaration of players renouncing up to 4 months of salary unless certain event happened (Covid related) allowing them to lift such expenses from the balance as unsure. In reality though they agreed with the players they only renounced 1 month, and the other 3 were gonna be paid in any case, which should have put these 3 months as sure debts in the balance, which should have looked worse in that case.

I'm sure there are many many more people out there that know much more than I do, but in the end it seems like this was finally UEFA's way of getting Juventus to drop from the super league project. In my opinion, a clear indicator of this was the timing of Juve's 10 point deduction last season. Juventus were given the 10 point deduction on May 22nd, an hour prior to their kickoff before the Empoli game. However, the deadline for this verdict wasn't for another month or two later. The reason why it was settled so much sooner than the deadline was because UEFA needed to know league placements in order to understand what teams would be in each UEFA competition for the following season before the domestic seasons came to a close. With that being said, UEFA forced the FIGC's hand and rushed this verdict. On top of that, UEFA were also holding their own investigation in regard to these issues, and were almost certainly going to disqualify juventus from any UEFA competition regardless of juventus' final placement in the table or FIGC's verdict. Simply put, even if there were no points deducted and Juventus finished 2nd in the league, UEFA would have still disqualified juventus from the champions league, so this point deduction was almost like killing two birds with 1 stone. In the end, it seems like Agnelli's involvement in the super league has left Juventus and it's fans (myself included) in a position that will be difficult to climb out of for the next couple years (hopefully it's only a couple of years)
I forgot to include the part where UEFA had threatened a multiple year suspension on Juve from UEFA competitions, that would be decreased if they dropped out of super league involvement. This plea bargain alone seems like UEFA's objective all along was to get Juventus (The club with the board that arguably supported the super league the most) to leave the super league. It appears that this was UEFA's endgame all along, especially when you examine their sense of urgency when it comes to investigating other clubs with similar, if not worse allegations in regard to FFP.

Player transfer value is based on the agreement between two clubs. There really is not some third party that can determine what the player transfer value is or inflated player value. The transfer value is what the two clubs agree.

If the player is going to be treated as a company asset with a value of 72 million euros, third parties need to exist to control that this valuation is real as to not incur in artificially inflating the values of your assets to make you look less indebted. How is that not accounting fraud? You might as well say your toyota corolla is worth 2 million euros therefore you're a millionaire. Who would actually agree to your valuation if not for someone else looking to do accounting fraud too? Would a bank agree that your toyota corolla is worth that much as to offer you a 3 million dollar loan with the car as a guarantee? I think not. Neither can Juventus or Barcelona claim that they have that much money worth of players if they can't sell them for what they claim they're worth.

Juventus has negotiated with Italian Football Jurisdiction for Prisma, therefore admitting the crime despite whatever they say to the press. Therefore they were deducted 10 points and fined 750k euros by Serie A, but the request in first trial was the relegation. This is also why the did not appeal to the penalty they’ve been given.

If you artificially inflate assets, then you might be in violation of financial regulations. This is a very specific case in football, but in other fields of the economy, people might actually go to jail if they purposely assign false valuations to their assets. If banks or investors buy you business, and you valuated your land and property 10 million Euros, but then it comes out its only worth 1 million Euros, you will get sued, prosecuted, the whole works.
The only reason why the punishment for Plusvalenza was revoked is, because it could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, that the clubs actually colluded to inflate the player sales prices. That doesn't mean clubs with swap deals can just make up fantasy numbers.
It is interesting that Barcelona has not been punished while Juventus yes...
for clarity, juventus reached an agreement with uefa to be voluntarily excluded from the conference league. it's not the same as being banned they wanted to please uefa and not be banned for future seasons

Sell player: 100% of player value counts in your favor in FFP.
Buy player: Only a fraction (1 divided by the number of years the contract lasts) counts against you in FFP.
Therefore the incentive to create high value transactions in swap deals, the purchase is a problem only years down the road, the sale is instant bonus.

Why wasn't there a ban on transfers? The use of player transfers was the mechanism to cheat.
Whatever happened to the investigation to signing underage players? Barcelona (1 yr), Atlético(1 yr), Real Madrid (6 mo.) and the Spanish FA were found guilty violating Fifa transfer rules of youth players and there was going to be punishment for the rest of Europe. Six years later, the Spanish big 3 were only European clubs "guilty" of youth player transfers....
Chelsea also suffered a similar penalty, no?

The plusvalenza comes out in the wash over the players contract anyway, it was short term book balancing to get through a period of difficulty created by the Italian government. The Italian sporting system and uefa should have had some leniency, given they created a situation where clubs were losing money hand over fist weekly during covid. I'm not saying people should have been allowed at games during this time, but the rule makers should accept that their actions also ruined or nearly ruined the livelihoods of many, then they turn around and punish you for trying to make it work, even though you found a loophole in the rules, they manipulated the rules in a very savvy way, and are not the only ones.

You forgot to mention that they weren’t punished for breaking any financial rules (because there were none) the prosecutor / court used article 4, which is for sporting disloyalty (no definition for what that is) - but it can have whatever punishment they deem “suitable “

Juve finished in CL places without point deduction. So avoiding Conference league would have happened if not found guilty.
Juventus were basically guaranteed to get a UCL spot, then came the ban, so it didn't matter. The point deduction made them 7th, not themselves.

The real reason uefa got involved was the emergence of the super league and the breakup between agnelli and infantino... In Italy the prosecutor wanted a 9 point deduction but the committee decided on 15 points before the Napoli game and then reversed shortly after, they then resubmitted the claim and decided for 10 points the weekend juventus was going to play Napoli again.

Loads were heard by CAS any every single one of them came back 'insufficient evidence.' The only thing that got upheld was failing to cooperate with UEFA, which they stopped doing after private documents were being leaked to the press by UEFA. It's amazing how everything thinks UEFA is corrupt to the core, but as soon as they attack a team you don't like (i.e. are jealous of) you're suddenly all UEFA fanboys.
