4:50 I wish you had been able to meet up with him on that trip. I heard the bad news that Alyn passed away last night. RIP to a talented, and generous photographer who shared his knowledge and inspired many.
He passed away? I am so so sad to hear that. I enjoyed his videos and sense of humor so much! I loved watching how excited he got on his last night on the ship when he got his full moon. What a terrible loss.
It was a pleasure sharing the time in Antartica with you Adam. Ireally enjoyed watching this and seeing your view of our time there. Gorgeous images too 👍🏻 Hopefully see you at the NEC!
Yes for sure! I'm looking forward to checking out your vid when it's all done. Cheers mate!
It looks wonderful! I like your images better than some from from another traveler in your mentioned group. All are good I just like yours better.
Thanks!
I was genuinely bowled over by the quality and colours in your images Adam. I don't know whether it is attributable to colour science, lens or editing prowess, but they are some of the best, if not the best, I've seen of the Antarctica.
Glad you enjoyed it
Oh my! Adam Gibbs and Rachel Bigsby in one workshop? This would have been an amazing experience to join. I‘m happy for everybody who was there. What a treat.
Thank you very much! 😊
Really great video and photos. I didn’t realise the chaos you had with your bag 😅😆 I’m glad we were late then!
Haha yeah not the smartest cookie in the jar. Thanks, Dani!
Thanks for sharing the wonderful experience. Your photos are wonderful and breathtaking.
Adam, I somehow missed this video, so late to comment. Firstly, I loved the series of photographs at the end using the play of light to create almost abstract dreamy landscapes. I was also interested in your thoughts about using different aspect ratios in camera as a reference for when you bring the image into post. I can never understand photographers who don't do this and just leave it to post to work out what might work. In my opinion, it is one of the best features of modern cameras. It allows you to frame precisely to an aspect ratio at the point of capture and not have to second guess it might work.
I'm glad you included your thoughts on how your attitude and approach were different on all three trips. While planning and goals are good, one thing I have learned from you, and a few others, is not to make high expectations that, if not met, can spoil the excitement of an adventure, but rather just be open to making the most of each location. Also, this was timely as I recently attended an annual dinner of our local Audubon club and the speaker was a fellow who has been to Antartica, and all over the world actually, photographing all eighteen species of penguins! Although his mission was not solely photography, your video augments the joy (and tribulations!) of travel and nature. P.S. Karen is a saint for saving your behind - literally!!
I'm so glad you and Mads did videos for this trip. It's a chance for me to see a place that I may never get to. Your images are gorgeous. Thank you! It's too bad Nigel is burned out on doing videos. He will be missed.
Great photos
Your photography is amazing and inspiring Adam!
I appreciate that!
We loved our trip down there. Did the three week one out of Ushuaia back in 2007. I wish I was more into photography then like I am now but still some great photos and excellent experience.
Thank you Adam for taking us on your journey to Antarctica , what an experience , that last set of Images were just amazing
👍
Fantastic photos!
Many thanks!
Fantastic Images Mr. Gibbs! Always enjoy watching your videos. Thanks.
Wolfgang
Many thanks
That was a really nice video Adam. The photos were great.
Many thanks!
Hopefully I'll see you at the show on Sunday
Hi Adam! Looking forward to seeing you at the Photography Show next week! 😊😊
Thank you very much for bringing me back to Antarctica. I was there in January and didn't even mind the seasickness on the Drake. As you remarked, I love the 24x65 crop in the Fuji GFX, too - especially the possiblity to change crop in the editing. Sometimes I decide of using the full format instead of the crop.
Like a lot of people, I'm unlikely to ever go due to cost, but your video really gave a sense of the trips you have made... thank you for letting me tag along ...
Karen is a one and only!! How you find and fix luggage in Mexico City is a real accomplishment! Jeroen needs a name change! Actors do it all the time :-) Glad it worked out. Beautiful shots and videos.
It's a bummer there's no panoramic digital cameras out there. I understand why, no one's going to spend the money to make a wide aspect sensor for something that won't sell much, but it still kind of stings that the only option is to buy a high MP camera and crop 2/3 the pixels out.
That said, the panos you came home with are bonkers good! That mottled light shot @5:40 is my jam.
What stunning images Adam!! THe travel plan sounded like a worst nightmare for any traveler.... Close attention to departure times is critical, i'm sure you will agree!! So gland you made it there and captured such a magnificent portfolio of images.
Your images are stunning. I think relaxing & enjoying the scene made a difference.
Loved this Adam. It was an amazing trip. Will live forever in the memory but this video will help. It was great to meet you. Linda
Thanks, Linda!
Fantastic video and images Adam! Glad you shared your journey with us…and glad to hear your luggage caught up to you!
Adam, wonderful video. I really appreciated the photographs you took and appreciated even more you sharing your mindset on the three different trips to Antarctica!
My pleasure!
A fascinating insight into the commitment required on such a trip Adam. The final shots in particular are sublime. Thank you for taking the time to record the footage and share it.
Many thanks!
great pictures
Great video Adam. Cool to see the same sites again through your lens. As always, your images, particularly the abstract and minimalist ones, sing to me. Glad you got home safe; great talking with you!
What an amazing workshop that must have been! Glad your luggage caught up with you, Adam. I know what that’s like! I’ve just watched Mads’ version of Antarctica, and it’s wonderful to see the different perspectives and images you both shot! Loved it! A fantastic experience for you all!🇦🇺
Amazing landscape 🤩
beautiful! looks like an incredible trip
Some superbe photo's there Adam.
Some superb landscapes here Adam.
Outstanding
So many great photographs to see in this episode. It’s almost a shame that they are just shown for such a short time. No wonder you made a book out of this amazing collection!
So great to meet you Adam and loved seeing your perspective of the trip, the shots are stunning.
Hopefully catch you at the NEC!
Thanks, Rhiannon! Nice to see you at the show as well. 🍻👌
Beautiful
Thanks for sharing 😊
My pleasure 😊
Whew, amazing photos, video footage, and story interweaved in. Antarctica is on my list to visit and hoping to go sometime soon. This definitely pushed it higher up the list!
As always your pics make me exceptionally envious, I did see you at the NEC which I really enjoyed, I bought the filters you gave me advice on, and for me and ease of use they are superb so thank you for that.
Awesome, thank you!
Gorgeous images, either Antarctica or the Artic are on my bucket list and this video makes me want to go even more.
Wonderful photos + interesting/amusing narrative = great video!! Thanks for sharing 😊
Great video Adam, was a fantastic trip and incredibly overwhelming. Love the images i the video and looking back at mine now just reminds me what a wonderful time it was.
Hopefully see you at the NEC at the weekend.
Thanks 👍
Stunning work Adam, the collection of images show the diversity of Antartica. Many thanks for sharing👌👌
Adam, I also went there in 2008. A piece of very sage advice from our National Geogpahic photographer on board told us to yes, take pictures, but put our cameras down and actually look at what you are seeing. How cool was that?
Lovely video Adam. Love how u delve into some of the practical challenges
The most memorable part of your trip was making good friends with your new pals Glen, COVID Doug and Sarah!!! Lets plan a trip to hang out and take photos!
Cheers, Glen!
Phenomenal overview of a spectacular trip. Your approach to capturing the beauty by the way of Pano is top notch !!!
Thanks!
Very cool! Looks like it was a wonderful trip, the images look spectacular!
Many thanks!
Great film Adam, proof if it was needed why I think your work is outstanding ! 😀👍👏
Much appreciated!
Funny thing, Adam, when you mentioned your lack of attention causing your flight problems, I was reminded of losing your Antarctica booklet. I ordered it several years ago along with a calendar. The calendar had one destination as a Christmas present and the booklet another. So I separated them and haven't seen the booklet since then. It's in the house somewhere and someday I or someone else will find it and be delighted. At least I think that this all happened. lol
Awesome!
A lovely body of images sir, well done! You need some merch designed around that baby seal ;-)
Great video, really enjoyed the insights into visiting Antartica. On my bucket list but probably not gonna happen. I will however see you at Birmingham I hope!
Seems like a great adventure ❄️👍
What a great photos Adam! Well done!
Many thanks!
Beautiful ❤❤❤
Stunning photos!
Many thanks!
I feel for you ---- it must have been so hard and exhausting LOL The images you have captured are top class thanks .
Stunning pix! 👍
Many thanks!
Wow the ultimate experience . Well lots of Penguins. But what Landscapes awesome Adam . On my bucket list 👍
Beautiful Adam. Amazing. I could never visit there. Probably come home with a frozen mouth from all the jaw-dropping moments. 😂
wonderful picturesque images. I particularly like the panoramic photos in 6x17 ratio. Makes me dust off my Shen Hao 617 and prepare a trip to the coast…
Great!
The shot at 14:49 is very nice indeed… as is the ending sequence
One of those trips would be a dream! Maybe one day I will be lucky enough to see Antarctica.
I hope you make a book of this trip
It's my dream to take photography trips around the world and get other people to pay for them. Congrats Adam!
Thanks!
Stunning images. And amazing how each trip has been so different. A missing bag though. . . .crikey. That would have stressed me beyond belief!!!!
Ordered Antarctica, cant wait…😊
Thank you!
Well done Adam ! So much fun reliving a shared truly amazing experience !!! And happy you weren’t only wearing one pair of underwear 😂🤣🤣Best, mate ! Cheers 🎉
Classy Adam
Wonderful images and an equally exciting experience in Antarctica! I tried to imagine having only one pair of underwear and asking if you could "borrow" a pair and would they want them back? Great video as usual! When do you get a chance to be home?
Your account of your third trip contains many lessons to be heeded by first timers. Antarctica has long been on my list, but up against competition for access to the piggy bank. You have nudged it up the priority ranking.
Excellent!
It may be a good idea to pack Dramamine as a matter of course. Better to have and not need than vice versa!
Good tip👍
Panos rule, definitely in Antarctica.
Thanks for sharing again Adam.
You bet!
Can I ask when you goes on those kind of trip, how many camera body (GFX 100S) you will bring ?
Thanks for the video
Just the one one on this trip
Hi@@QuietLightPhoto
I ask because I've always very anxious that my GFX 100s break during a trip
Thank you for your answer
What is the best setting for point and shoot cameras as well as Android smartphones (Samsung Galaxy s23)?
no idea?
Sorry, which camera did you use to take those magnificent photos, thx
… and was the sane camera for videos
Video was mostly Osmo packet 3, images Fuji GFX100s
Fuji camera is the best camera to shot ice, water and Mountain.
I really liked those pano shots. I saw on the news this week that Avian bird flu is starting to show up in the penguin populations in South Georgia, such a shame, did you witness any signs of this Adam?
No I didn't but I understand that it was brought down by seals. The penguin population doesn't seem to be affected at this point.
Great trip, and awesome pictures! Thanks for sharing.
Even though you said your second trip was toward the end of the pandemic, it has not ended. The SARS-CoV-2 virus still kills thousands of people around the world each month, saddles still more with chronic symptoms known as Long COVID, and continues to evolve, with the highly transmissible JN.1 variant recently causing waves of infection across the globe.
Great video Adam. I love the landscape and I am a penguin fan.. the video went way too fast.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great photos. I was worried for a second there at 6:03 that you might be using penguin shit stains as leading lines, but it's grass/moss, right? :D
Edit: Also, the big "ship" and the small ship at 14:34 is super cool!
Penguin highways mostly from
Shit and algae
What ball park figure do these trips cost?
I believe they start at around USD $16000 and up from there plus flight to Chile
Funnily enough, I don’t see anyone complaining about the ‘boring’ blue skies in photos of the Antarctic. Speaking on behalf of the official ‘Support Blue Skies’ campaign.
Blue skies for me have always gone well with ice and snow.
Congratulations on the underwear thing.
Thanks for butchering my name in the best way possible! ❤
Haha sorry about that. I guess I should have rehearsed before hand😁🤣
@@QuietLightPhoto It’s not for the faint of heart 🤣
😂😂😂
Gav should have been there to over dub the penguins.
So it was your fault we lost a day! 😝🤣
Busted!
So, if I hear you right, what you're saying is that you're a bit of a dill. And here was I thinking that I was the only one. I love UA-cam for reminding me that even the experts stuff up occasionally, both photographically and otherwise. Hope remains.
Nice mountain shots BTW
According to flat earthers no one is allowed to visit Antarctica and all visitors are immediately apprehended by the military if they try to approach it… 😂 Did you witness any mass arrests? 😂
It’s not funny,it’s NOT…we are right you are rong
Yes I'm still in jail now
Superb video Adam. You’ve captured the essence superbly.
Many thanks!
