Depends on what the cop is using. Running radar or I stand on radar. The instant on radar is quick. Vise running radar you can detect like miles away possibly.

I've had the Valentine v1 gen 2...sold it...my uniden r3 was way better so I went back to it... don't waste your time with v1 gen 1 or 2 there's no gps it doesn't have the ability to mark/learn where's the false alarms...and it gives false alerts like crazy and have you driving like a little old lady all the time..it's all about r3 or r7/r8..and a good laser jammer with 2 heads in front.
Problem with scramblers is if a cop knows he is pointing at your car and nothing is coming up,,,,,cause you are invisible, then he will pull you over because you are invisible....I'll stick to my passport IX

True sometimes the max 360 does pick up late but it depends on the officer sometimes by turning his radar on at last minute just like some of these state police here in Illinois do. The max 360 does very well when detecting police radar aggressively….but like I said before that’s exactly why I don’t use a radar detector by itself. What I use is 2 scramblers mounted in the rears for better protection against police laser up close near them and a scrambler mounted in front windshield up-top.

The 2 scramblers I have on my vehicle for the rears are discontinued meaning sold completely out of stock. The features in the Radar detector is all turned off except for the scrambler unit.

Is there one with a map screen that'll show you what street theyre on? Otherwise I dont see a great worth if its just telling you there's one around somewhere, but you dont know exactly where & then you make the wrong turn.
The rule for radar detectors is: If it’s beeping, don’t do anything stupid. I drive around with one on and the only time it beeps is when a cop is near by. I don’t know where, but I know to drive normally just incase. The higher trim ones have directional arrows to point which direction the signal is being received from. They can’t pin point the cop exactly because you need radars in different place to do that.
