Thanks for braving the wind & cold to share your detecting day out there with John. Lovely to see your excitement with each find. Woohoo!!! That deep hole that didn't produce anything was a mystery eh.
Im not kidding i was freeeeeeeeeezing !!! needed a hat and scarf and thicker coat for sure .. Brrrr...... i loved my detecting day.. i would love to go more often but i don't have a permission ,so only get to go when John invites me :-) ... Chinese never dug square holds on the gold fields. Devils hide in corners they reckon. You should have planted a post in that post hole. Your farmer may have seen the humor in it LOL.
Nice, I haven't found a buckle yet, 3 years on. I get several targets that disappear, the best I can figure is they are foil that gets ripped up smaller when I dig it or a rusted item that starts as a large patch of rust then gets dispersed when I did it. I save all my beaver tail ring pulls, they stopped making them in the 70's I think. I have about two hand fulls so far. Nice coin, the oldest one I have found is a 1926 Standing Liberty Quarter, 90% silver.
Some lovely buckles get found , i loved getting my first , i cant make out what my coin is , but im so glad i found it , woo hooo lol , Thanks for your continued support :-)

chasing signals ...if your pinpointing is off it can easily be in the side wall not the bottom ,that's why the detector is still seeing it. .
Thank you , will keep that in mind for next time :-)
You two make a cute couple. Hmm, Lady Jane and 15th Century John sounds akin to a story set in Sherwood Forest. LoL
I don't know which of you two to warn about the other.
Jane, that's the guy your mother warned you about.
John, you lucky devil.
