So happy to see you doing Bo again! This is one of my favorite Bo songs now. It's just so pretty and ridiculous at the same time. Please do more songs from the Outtakes if you haven't heard them yet. 5 Years also had a video. 1985 & Microwave Popcorn are audio only.
Thank you so so much for reacting to this and I am SO SORRY for trolling you with "why did the chicken cross the road?" When I listened to this the first time and I got that joke, it was the closest thing I've felt to a rick roll in a LONG time. I loved your in depth analysis of this!!
This is why I listen to your Bo Burnham reaction over and over. The depth of you asking why the chicken crossed the road is the questions we should ask in life. Hope you do more Bo and other artists too. - Aiel
I just realized something. What you said about being cooped up and everything. When you are young and in your parent or guardian's care, you do what you are told. You follow what they want, sometimes even what they want you to be, and not what you want to be (like a dentist). Then you try and escape and follow your dreams, but at the end they say "You're a joke" and don't support you and now you're stuck in the middle of the road with debt, mental issues, and studies staring you down and running you over. So him saying a lot of people think the chicken (you) dies, and he likes to think the chicken makes it to the other side is just beautiful. Still your fan, Aiel.
The way i see this song is that in order to get to a better place in your life or your mental health or whatever, you need to take the scary first step into recovery or whatever, which might be hard and might kill you. But unless you do, you'll spend your life confined to a coop. As a chronic depressive, this song is like a punch in the chest.
This song reminds me of the ending of La La Land. The chicken likes her life but thinks about how it could be different and acts on it. Different execution but similar theme :)
Some songs tries for profound. Bo's just is. Now and maybe for 20 to 30 yrs when i die, i'll hear the terrible joke of why did the chicken cross the road and just cry. Ma flew the coop when i was young. I hoped then that she took me with her. Never found out what happened to her. I tried for decades looking for any clue. Nothing.
I appreciate that you did your best to take the song seriously. While I think that Bo absolutely intended for all those layers to be there, I still think this song was a massive troll on his part. I laughed very, very hard and had to listen a couple more times before I truly processed everything after "must cross".
The song is an allegory it is deep a lot of reactors I've seen do this song and a lot don't fully get it you took a turn towards it but still to many focus on the aspect that it's based on the why the chicken crossed the road your reaction is the right one in my opinion.
I have to say, you're very mild in your interpretation of the husband's screams... Regarding the luck, there's a short clip on UA-cam of Bo at Conan O'Brien's that's relevant, not sure if you've seen it. Dug up the link: ua-cam.com/video/q-JgG0ECp2U/v-deo.html
I'm always mesmerized by how shallow some interpretations are, even when trying so hard. I don't mean to sound rude, but once you hear "wakes up every morning to her husband screaming" you should be able to instantly identify the song is mostly about woman in society. "She like sher life as a mother and wife, but it's that all she is?". It's the dread woman feel about society's or her families expectations on her compared to what she really wanted to be. It's hard even nowadays to housewifes to break the shell and follow their vocations as something more, beyond family. Almost impossible, in some cases. But we must believe they can do it, right?
I think there's a lot of serious things hiding behind the chicken and the road metaphor. Reducing it down to just a joke I think does the song a disservice
@@AquaticDot Why do you care so much what I can or can't appreciate? You appreciate it. That should be enough for you. If it's not, I find that pretty tragic.
@Big Sky Look man, I'm just saying, the mere suggestion that a song might be trying to convey meaning was enough to make fun of me for being too #deep. And that really bummed me out, because of what it implies about your enjoyment of most art in general. How you live your life is up to you, and you're right, it's not my business or my problem, so keep doing you.
In my mental, I believe he is comparing domestic abuse getting worse with quarentine... the chicken cooped up- being more than just a mother and wife. :) Beautiful song

i think the dentist line refers to the phrase “like hen’s teeth” implying something very rare

Awesome seeing you reacting to Bo again! This is such a good song. I’ve never cried about chickens before…yet here we are.
Cheers
The road was gigantic. The chicken was little
And regardless. She got to the other side.

dude you're really pretty- not trying to make you feel weird, you're just really pretty and have a great voice! love the reactions. thanks~ !
It's also a song about the dangers or consequences of chasing your dreams.
I really liked your comments on this song. Thanks!

I love this reaction. Thank you
You’re thoughts about privilege are so real to me because I relate.

Thanks for doing Bo again ❤️
i watched this video before the original video
Woooh Bo content🔥🙌🏼♥️
Gives me "Leave Louanne" vibes
You should react to some Cal Scruby or Connor Price. Both bar heavy, ridiculous flow, independent artists

He's a comedian. Of course he turned a joke into a song lol. That's kind of his thing. Except this time, he didn't write the joke himself.

@@AquaticDot That is so #deep of you to say.
@@bigsky-s6r I'm sorry that you can't appreciate things beyond a shallow, surface reading. It's honestly really tragic to learn.
