Max schooled him due to his greater speed which gaethje could not stop. Illia is also a great counterstriker (against Josh emmet which isn’t that hard) but I also think max is faster than Illia. I think Illia Vs max is probably more 65-35 max due to the speed advantage

Good video, but simplifying down gaethje to a hook dude with grunts is very wrong. He became an elite counter striker in the latter half of his career. Max schooled him due to his greater speed which gaethje could not stop. Illia is also a great counterstriker (against Josh emmet which isn’t that hard) but I also think max is faster than Illia. I think Illia Vs max is probably more 65-35 max due to the speed advantage
