    Great video Khang. I've been using the Miricle Grow for a few years to grow my plants indoor before transplanting them outdoor. It works great and the shelf live is amazing.

    Thanks so much for this video. I wondered why my organic solution would start growing mold after a few days! I'm glad you mentioned it going bad if kept mixed in the bottle.

      Just mix smaller amount
      So use up faster or keep refrigerated so has longer shelf life

    If you want to see something startling then do a test on seed starting mixes. I did a test starting tomato seeds from miracle grow and jiffy. The jiffy seedlings were twice as big and beautiful as the ones grown in miracle grow starting mix.

    • @JeagerTv
      @JeagerTv 3 роки тому +2

      I also prefer jiffy starting mix. I find that it tends to be less susceptible to mold and fungus. Also works great for wheatgrass, chives or microgreens.

    Good experiment. Now and days I worry a bit less and usually mix up 1/4 strength MG or expert gardener with some Epsom salt and calcium nitrate. May try garden lime later as a 100% big box store experiment

    Miracle Grow normally has a NPK of 24-8-16, of course it will produce lusher green leaves, thats what its designed to but it wont work for flowering where the dyna grow is able to be used during the flowering periods as well. If you are going to do a test, choose products with similar NPK's so people know what works best for vegetative and what works best for flowering / fruiting.

    The miracle grow was overly fed, it could use much less as the plant is poisoned with too much green. You can see the Dyna grow and the natures care has a luster on the leaf that shows vibrant health. Very cool experiment!!

    I just got Miracle Grow as I've had a lot of success with it in the past. I've never used it for hydroponic applications, however, so I'll be interested to see how it works long term. In the short term, it helped bring back a celery plant I thought was dead. I cut back all the dead material, leaving only a little green sprout, and put it in a solution of Miracle Grow and water. Within three days it perked up and is now looking healthy again.

    The tomato feed probably has extra magnesium bc it's so green!

    • @donniebrite9170
      @donniebrite9170 4 роки тому +3

      It does have extra magnesium in it but one ingredient it doesn't have is calcium and I know Pepper's need some calcium but tomatoes need a ton of calcium but I just learned that the other day because my tomato plant is suffering from Calcium deficiency and this is what I use as a nutrient solution it works extremely well on all my other plants though

  • @huaweiwang6931
    @huaweiwang6931 6 років тому +1

    Regular fertilizers usually lack Ca, S, Cl and contain only a few Mg. I guess this is where things went expensive. But $20 vs $2? Dude that's way over priced lol. Ca, S and Cl are in the tap water. Mg might be the only thing that's insufficient, but hey I can easily buy some epsom salt to crank Ca: Mg ratio to 2:1 and fill in some holes in S deficiency at the same time... Thanks for this great experiment!

    Hello Khang, since you're going to plant them into soil, would it be possible to see how and what effects there are in the long term for using these three different nutrients? Just as you said that the Regular Miracle Gro's plant leaves are darker green than the other two. Is it possible to ask you to grow them out using these same plants and their respective nutrients? To see if there are any differences in taste, shape of the peppers, and the yield of peppers?

    I'm just making sure, for hydroponic food Miracle Gro is safe, right? (BTW, the big tbsp is 1.5 already, and the little tsp is .5, it says, and the smaller tsp is for indoor use, ie - it lasts longer before evaporation, saturating the container, and you breathe it in.) It obviously nourishes the plant so it will grow, but we're eating these chemicals in the plant. (And Kratky likes 3-4cm of air on the roots.) The stones on the bottom is smart, though!

    I was just thinking, since the NPK is so high on the Miracle Grow, you could about half the recommended amount of nutrient and end up with a similar NPK number to the other two. That makes the Miracle grow an even better bargain!

    • @klausy1000
      @klausy1000 6 років тому +1

      Captain Ron Hi captain. I wasn’t saying that but it’s true, Miracle Grow does have trace nutrients as well. I just meant it had more NPK than the others so you could use a more diluted solution.

    • @priayief
      @priayief 6 років тому +4

      klausy1000 - Yes, I understood exactly what you meant but my comment was directed to GifCo. I'm quite aware of the trace nutrients (aka "active ingredients") in the product. I just wanted to see if GifCo could clarify his comment. And I thought your comment was thoughtful and reasonable. Thanks and cheers.

    • @GifCoDigital
      @GifCoDigital 6 років тому

      Captain Ron - Yes there is, and even if there was NOT the Nitrogen from MG is from liquid ammonia, that is usually only used for animal feed. MG is for flowers, if you think you can pump veggies full of this chemical garbage and have no negative side effects then I strongly urge you to use as much MG as you can, survival of the fittest and what not...

    Notice he is using Miracle-Gro Tomato Feed and not the classic Miracle-Gro All Purpose plant food (the blue stuff). The All Purpose plant food is not 100% water soluble and has a different NPK (24-8-16) than the Tomato Feed (18-18-21) and is water soluble. I read on a website that the classic Miracle-Gro is not the preferred type of Miracle-Gro product to use for hydroponics. So, it's best not to use the blue stuff!

    • @KhangStarr
      @KhangStarr  6 років тому +3

      Try to keep the soil a little moist and not super dry. It may require a little water from top. As far as feeding from bottom, you wan to only give the plant enough so that it will take up everything in a day. Too much water from the bottom for an extended period will rot the roots.

      I like to use manure and compost, and mix in some lighter organic soil. Manure and compost like Black Cow is very heavy. Using it along will cause compaction, so mix in some lighter soil will make it more fluffy and drained easily. I also make my own compost from scraps that I add to the bed to feed the plants.

Can you please make comparison video of GH flora series and Dyna-gro with few different plants. These imported fertilizers are way too expensive in india I mean insanely expensive. With the cost of DG and GH flora.. I can purchase all required salts for hydroponics and make 200 liters of concentrated hydroponics nutrient with the dilution ratio of 1:400 wich will give me 80,000 liters of full strength solution. I mean I can start a hydroponics nutrient company here in India with the cost of just one bottle of 1liter Dyna-gro and GH flora series (1 liter each grow, micro and bloom)😀😂

    I think I’m going to buy this Miracle Grow. I noticed it in the store the other day, and the video came in perfect timing for me to decide. Thank you. Also, do you have any seeds for sale? Thanks.

    What is the ph of your hydroponic solution? Do you ever check the ph level before you feed your plants?.

    No offense, but there's a difference between a teaspoon and tablespoon. The 2 ends of the scoop. People follow and the may burn up their plants with to much nitrogen. Or toxify the soil eventually stunting the growth.
