I have been putting a strand of hot wire around my pastures since I started watching your channel years ago. I have been using small Gallagher boxes on the small pastures and big ones on the long stretches. Even on new woven wire fences. Anything to help eliminate those dreaded "your cows are out" phone calls. adds a little reassurance that I am grateful for!
The way you explain the “how” and “why” as you fabricate is so great! It helps laypeople like me to understand. Thank you! I can’t wait to see how the bale unroller turns out!
Watching your Saturday video with my coffee best way to start my day. Winter pasture is beautiful and I’m sure the cows will appreciate it. Calli looked happy today running and spending time with you. Have a great weekend!
Great thinking through the different loads and stresses the bale unroller will have to tolerate. Your admitted tendency to overbuild things, is based on the learned "common sense" every successful fabricator needs. A 4 or 6 foot bale is a lot of weight to carry over uneven ground. Every piece of metal carrying the load has to tolerate the pitch, yaw and roll of that mass hanging off the back of your 3 point hitch.
Tyler your a really good artist. Your imagination and then the way you make things. Wow your sooooo good at the things you make I would give you an a+++++
Winter pasture looks very good. Last months rain and sun really helped the grass grow. That bale unrolled is going to save you some energy. Looks good and your explanations are easy to understand. I could probably make one if needed. But letting you do that work for me. Lol
Hi Tyler your grass looks so fresh for the cows they will enjoy in joy it for sure.we here in Ontario got a lot of snow last night so we are shovelling today been Sat. Nice to see your project coming together, you have put a lot of time in that good for you nice work, take care from Ontario🇨🇦
Those bearings are perfect for that sort of application. Only thing i might be concerned about is the ability of the grub screws which hold the bar, to resist the push forces when you are pushing the spikes into the bales. But i would assume that wont take much force. And of course you could always "dimple" the bar where the grub screws hold anyway for extra grip.
Coooool! The only thing I thought of for the bearings is dust and not having dust covers...but with grease nipples there should be good...hea? Right? I know 2 guys you would work with so good..they've invented stuff too! Love the way you research, smart man!
My arms where they hook to the front 3pt bar are getting loose after a lot of use. I think there is some wear in there where the pin goes thru both pieces. I’ll take it apart after hay feeding season assess the wear. Should be an easy fix after watching you build yours.
I bought some pasture a few years back and I debated fixing the fence lines.... I'm so glad I didn't. I ripped all the old barb wire out because it was so old and brittle and so over grown now I have nice clean fences that are now electric. So nice to start fresh sometimes but it was alot of work. As for the bearing having side load you could weld a plate on the outside of the arms and then bump your rod to it then set the set screws on the bearing this way when you go to squeeze a bale the rod would be pressing against a plate and not be relying on the bearing set screws.
Only thing I can see that you might have a problem with using the bearings, is that they can pivot around in the housing. But having two on each shaft will minimize that. But on the other hand it might actually help if your not perfectly centered in the roll. I’m interested to see how it works out!
Bearings on the spinners is overkill that I have not seen on any bale unrolling truck bed or 3 point unroller. Most just use a cold roll spear with a small disc and going through a piece of double wall pipe. I hope the side load on the bearings do not cause them to fail.
To divide a fraction by 2 multiply the bottom number by 2 for example half of 1 is 1/2 half of 1/2 is 1/4 half of 1/4 is 1/8 As in your example half of 3/8 is 3/16
I'm Canadian in Northern BC we usually get about 4' of snow some times 6' I use hot wire for the top of rolled wire fence, in the winter paddock. Its above the fence about 10" By Feb the snow is packed down enough my horse can step over the electric line. She's 15 hands, Good thing she has no desire to go n e where. lol It keeps the other animals in, goat and mini horse. Well the goat some times finds a week spot, she doesn't go n e where ether lol

You know the fact that the US hasn't fully converted to the metric system doesn't really bother me UNTIL you get to measuring stuff! I'm over 50 years old and I could not figure out what half of 5 3/8 was if my life depended on it!

@briangrammer898 Hereford mainly but Angus, simmental and Baldy's. how about you?
No you don’t quit sucking up
That last heifer you kept is a cutie. Her black white face is so adorable.

The winter pasture is one beautiful piece of property.
Yes it is
I sure love your videos, love how you just take us along as you do different things. Thanks for sharing with us. Keep'em coming 😀

The winter pasture was certainly picturesque this video - love the old trees.

Two and a half eighths is my new favorite number.
As a 'city slicker', I am very impressed with your welding skills !!
Can't wait for Tuesday to see how the bale unroller turns out. You're a genius!
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing farmer Tyler ranch I hope you have a great weekend
I learn a lot from your farm keep up the good work sir god bless🙏

That green grass at the winter pasture made me happy. all of our pasture is under snow ☹️
Look at all those happy cows, eating that luscious hay.
Great info and progress on the haybale un-roller.
Hi good morning Tyler from Indiana
The winter pasture makes me hopeful that spring will be here soon. Very picturesque.
Excellent explanation on building and why you’re doing it this way. Thank you for taking the time to educate us.

Excellent, it's not cheating, it's improvising. Which comes with experience, trial and error and smarts! Thank you for sharing ❤
Sweet design on the bale unroller, Tyler.
Good cold morning from Idaho ❤ Had to watch you first before daughter’s wedding today
Great one FT. Never cease to be amazed at your skills. Winter pasture looks ready. Thanks for sharing.
That bale unroller starting to look awesome
Hope you have a great weekend. Thanks for sharing.
You’ll have some happy cows on Sunday! Bale roller is looking great!
Winter pasture is looking good and the un roller is almost finished can’t wait to see it in used have a good weekend.
Happy Saturday FTR Family!!
❤ to you as well !!
@@allysonh6410 Thank you 🙏
Hi Tyler and beautiful family ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is exciting watching this project come to life. I know you will get so much use out of this piece of equipment.
Hello everyone ❤Best wishes from England UK 🇬🇧
Hi.. from Missouri..we have the about the same temperature
The winter pasture is so pretty with all the mature trees!
FTR can make anything watching you from Saskatchewan,Canada.
@@MabesMolnar watching from Alberta but originated from Mantoba..hello. neighbour!
Lots of progress today 😊
Looking great Tyler
Good afternoon Thanks for the video Tyler yeah, far from the fire and Malibu California

Appreciate your sharing the update of the hay roller. Hope that you and the family have a enjoyable, safe and successful 2025.☝🙏🙌💪
Another fine video

I think you could fabricate and sell bale unroller’s love watching your videos 😊

If those bearings fail, you could use trailer axles with tapered bearings.
Awesome work Tyler!!!

So, can an attachment be made that works with the unroller to scrub the grass that the cows don’t eat?
To divide a fraction by 2 multiply the bottom number by 2 for example
half of 1 is 1/2
half of 1/2 is 1/4
half of 1/4 is 1/8
As in your example
half of 3/8 is 3/16
I bet be awesome can't wait to see that video thank you for this video
I have 3 places on my fence that deer tears it up. The other side is alfalfa feilds!
Be Safe
If those bearings fail due to sideload try modifying a wheel hub in its place.
❤❤VIDEO ❤❤ good 👍 morning ❤seeing the cow herd❤ can’t wait for calving season ❤also warmer weather 😂😂
Coming on leaps and bounds 👍👍👍💯💯💛

30 paces about 10 meters = 6.25 feet, approximately.
*16 feet sorry!
Are you doing to add a couple of hooks that will take the bale wrap off??😊
Get some cutting oil on that angular drill bit.
You're trying to be too perfect. A good-looking weld hides all sins. Can't wait to see it roll out the first bail.
How will dirt and hay affect those bearings?
Are they totaly enclosed?
Will they require grease?

We'll hide any mistakes with weld.

Did I pass my ____ (measuring) test today?
Only one floating bearing would compensate for the stress load.
My Dad always used a red oxide primer then whatever color he wanted
❤

how did the calf sale go?
Are the cats still hanging around? Any relief on the rodents?

How's the cats?
One can never have enough C- clamps on a farm, lol
Don't worry about the poor cuts because we have video evidence. 😁
Are you going to get another dog?
Well, Hello there cow nostril! LOL
I was wondering if you ever buy new female cows for new blood lines lol
He gets the new genetics thru using different bulls, keeping a few of the heifers and breeding those heifers to a different bull.
👍👍❤🐂
