It was stated in the episode that Izutsumi had 2 curses in her. The one that turned her into a beastman and another on her neck that Maizuru (Shuro's party lady) placed on her. Maizuru's curse was the one that was activated and summoned the Paper Oni. Once Laios and Senshi killed the Oni, that curse got broken. so Izutsumi's goal is now the beastman curse
I hope you guys go back and take a look at some of the stuff in the background of Marcilles dream! I love this episode, it must be so hard to adapt horror elements from a manga into an anime and they did a good job. I think Laios is a little bit too.... cheery during the whole ordeal in the anime lol, but I think its cute how much he tries to cheer up lil Marcille. And the monster! So cool. Also. YAY WE GOT IZUTSUMI! Kibty cat 🐈
Marcielle is a half-elf, her father was human. Basing that on the portraits in her dream, the fact that her father died when she was young, and what her mother told her about "running faster" than others. Also look at the ears of the full elves in later episodes. They don't have any roundness or fullness to them, they're thin and pointy. Her lifespan may not be as long as a full elf but it's likely longer than a human's. Laios was in Marcielle's dream, but he changed to a wolf before joining it. Which she saw as a scruffy dog.
It probably won't come up, but in the extra notes Izutsumi ninjas her way into everyone's sleeping bags. Senshi is too big, Marcille is too cold, and Laios likes it too much. Unfortunately, Chilchuck is perfect as a warm body pillow. He hates it, not least because his kids are probably older than her in halfling years
Apparently the dog that Marcille dreamt of was one of Laios's real dogs from his childhood (who was named Dustrag, seen in the previous episode)
Interesting! And it make sense because the dog Laios transformed into was different from the one Marcille remembers.
