Good job! I did this on my 1985 Golf Diesel and it was quite involved, used the fiberglass method to reinforce the weak areas but all in all it turned out well. 👍
Hi there! Thank for your video. We have a jetta 2 also with sunroof and the water is coming in from the roof. So well to check it we want to take the roof off and also change it since there are many lose parts. Now the question is, how do you take the a trim out? That part is cut jn the video 🥲. Since it just have one screw on the top I imagine there are some clicks on the bottom or how does it work? I really hope you can unser this question. Much love, Maca.

Back in tha day, I worked repairing and moulding parts for Reliant cars (yes, sad I know lol) so a bit of advice for anyone attempting this. Cover your work surface with polythene or clingfilm before you start. Have several throwaway brushes handy and, after you've liberally coated the repair surface, 'stipple' the resin into the glass mat, not brush it on as if you are painting. Measure the hardener acurately, but use a bit less if working in a warm environment. Acetone is a solvent for resin, so have some handy to clean tools etc. No need to apply the repair exactly to the edge, you can easily trim off any excess with a sharp blade when it's 'green'. I've recently successfully repaired my broken 1992 T4 rear bumper with resin and glassfibre mat, so fixes like this can save you £££.

It should have been a pea sized hardener to 60mil. Hardener should be 1-2%. You will probably find it will delaminate from the headliner. The headliners in mk 2 golfs is made of injection moulded polyurethane foam which is also used in some fiberglass moulds as grp does not stick to it well. To remove the glue from the headliner iv found spraying it with a few LIGHT coats of primer. This makes the glue go hard and is easy to sand off. You have to remove all traces of glue or the new glue will fail quickly. And finally when fitting the new headliner you should start from the middle and work your way out.
Allow the glue to set up first. Do both the material and the headliner. Basicly dry to the touch. Then stick em together. Do this in manageable small sections

I used that same 'high temp' spray glue for my headliner and it's failed. Used 6 cans of it too 🤬

black car will easily exceed 120 on a hot day ...glue isnt the right one for the job thats why so many fail
