Heels and comfort really depends on the foot. I have high arches and flats hurt my foot. Now I am not talking really high heels but a med to smaller heel works best for me rather than flat. Most people have smaller arches or none at all. Also wearing heels has a lot to do with practice and constant use of them!
Really helpful! I've been finding myself buying heels only if they have an ankle strap so they don't flip-flop around, but will have to try a back insert or different heel design and see if that helps--thanks!
I was wearing a pair of 2 inch booties walking around Toronto (because I'm a fool), and those narrow Dr Scholls saved me! I'll look into those inserts for my boots :) Great video!!
Omg thank you so much for this video!! It was very helpful. I hope you'll make a video about your personal favorite brands when it comes to shopping for heels.
Also important reminder that diabetics should never apply any sort of numbing product on the feet. Foot care is very important for diabetics and if you can't feel the pain of an injured spot.....it can end up getting worse fast and people have had to have toes etc amputated before. So you're right, no pain doesn't mean no problem!
Great post , as a male, I sometimes crossdress and I have heels pleaser 4inch t-bar sandals and are lovely I haven't really got to wear them much as I have to wear them secretly , but a great video which I will save for later use when buying other heels
Thank you for the tips! Do you ever need to size up to allow for the insoles? Also, any tips on how to make shoes smaller if the are too loose in general but tight in the toe box?
These bare all great suggestions. I've employed some of them and found them very helpful. I've learned additional tips from you and glad to know them Comfort for your feet is essential regardless of whether you're wearing flats or heels because the pain and misery that accompanies door discomfort is torturous. Thanks for enlightening us. Very well appreciated.
Totally found this video helpful Gerry! I am a total newb at wearing heels, because my feet are so ridiculously tiny, I struggle to find pairs that give support and balance. Definitely will be using that heel placement tip!
Thanks for this video. Great information and getting some heel grips because the rubbing in the back is one of the worst things of wearing shoes heels or flats.
Thanks for sharing. I need these in my life. I just bought a pair of flat italian loafers. The leather is a little stiff and rubs against the back of my foot despite having purchased the correct size. I'm definitely going to invest in heel grips to remedy the problem. No more bandaids!
I actually find heels much more comfy than most flats. I have extremely high arches and the angle my feet are forced into feels natural in my 3.5 inch heels
I had both knees replaced and am just getting back to wearing kitten heels, but want to wear regular ones for dressy occasions. Thanks for your suggestions.
I generally prefer to go up half a size if I know I plan to wear mine with insoles. It will also depend slightly on the style of the shoe and whether you decide to use a full insole or a half insole.
If you get baby toe blister in the same spot all the time, put a bandaid on the spot BEFORE you go out or start wearing your shoes. I have the same problem and "prevention" is so much better than putting a bandaid on after you've gotten the blister. Other stylists have recommended putting a moleskin patch either on your rubbing area or inside the shoe but I've never tried that yet!
My feet are wide at toes area of my foot I’m 5.5 or 6 ladies one time my ankle twisted while I was waking any suggestions of brand of shoe and style including pumps which I am a fan of. I like nice look with height
The style itself is called an d'orsay style heel. My particular pair is from Forever21 but it's many years old. This style is pretty easy to find if you just Google it and various brands carry something similar.
The video wasn't really about the shoe styles so I left it out but if you can time stamp me the ones you're interested in, I can tell you which brands they are :)
This video was made many many years ago so I'm thinking most of these exact shoes are no longer available but I'm sure similar styles are still out there.
Hello! Do you have any tips for the pinching feeling in the toes? My third and fourth (from the big toe) toes often hurt when wearing heels for more than an hour. I often wear 3 inch heels and almond shaped toe box. Thank you! :)
I bought the most beautiful high heeled shoes, they were not expensive which surprised me! So I took them to my shoe/boot cobbler. They put in great quality insoles which looked expensive & felt great on my feet. Nothing worse than taking a shoe off & inside looks yucky, nasty!
Thank you for showing the different comfortable insoles. I so agree that people must not abuse anaesthetics just for the sheer vanity of wearing strange high heels.
It helps to keep your feet comfortable when most shoes do not come with a lot of cushion. Walking on high heels where your feet is on a pitch puts a lot of strain on them. Shoes are also not always designed to fit all foot types, so supports help give you a most custom fit where you need it.
Some heels have more of a distinct curve where others are more of a straight line from heel to toe. The greater curve usually feels more comfortable even if there isn't much built in arch support cushion.
I have very high arches. I’ve tried those gel insoles. I don’t find them that comfortable. I never wear high heels anyway. I’m such a clutz. I cannot even walk in them for two seconds.
These are all terrific tips. Thank you! Especially the grip for the back of the heels. But I disagree, you can wear heels every day. NOT in the ice or snow, or while working out, but I have worn heels nearly daily since I was a teen.
As you age, you will start experiencing the effects. Damaged toenails, worn out the padding at the balls of your feet, planter’s fasciitis, bunions. So many possibilities.
HI ! i am a lady and i have a high arch and flat shoes make me kind of walk crooked and i dont know which kind of arch suppor to use cause Dr Sholls does not cut it and a foot doctor insoles are SUPER EXPENSIVES !
Try superfeet, they have different types of insoles for different arches, including high. There's another brand that also sells high arch insoles. Both of these brands are sold in REI if you live the usa. Otherwise, if you're finding all the generic brands useless and you have the money, you can visit a podiatrist to get custom insoles for your feet.
My feet tend to sweat a lot especially when I wear heels (big or small). This make my feet slip out/slide a bit inside my shoes and end up with severe blisters due to the constant friction while walking (not to mention they do get smelly too). Any suggestions to avoid excessive sweating please? Insoles don't help.. :(
Thank you, lady I got my first heels and now I am curious where do women experience pain wearing high heels? Is it the toes pinched into the pointy shoe? I measured my feet and got exact size, these are pretty decent shoes by Geox. I m afraid they don't fit because my toes feel uncomfortable. English is not my mother tongue/ sorry
Skinny Roy sometimes I get pain in my toes or heals, but mostly my pain is in the balls of my feet, where the padding has worn down. It feels as if I’m standing on bone.
I can say that you need to do what works and feels right for you at the end of the day. My videos are only a recommendation, there will not be one solution that works for everyone. Some people need a bit of heel to fit the shape of their foot and that’s okay too, some of these comfort tips still apply. Take what you find useful, skip what you don’t.

By FAR the best high heel video. Thank you!
Naturalizer shoes that come with extra padding under the arch area are super comfortable for someone who's suffering from foot injury!!
I only have one pair of Naturalizer shoes so far and I do like their (new?) N5 cushion - it's definitely better than most!

i just ordered the H&M shoes after watching your video :)
@pbunniep I am wondering which brand and type of the first pair of shoes you showed. They look amazing and most of all comfortable too!
My question exactly!! What is the brand name of the cutout shoe?
my first pair of heel is a 2inch wedge, it is more comfortable than my flats. I never found flats comfortable. The ultimate comfort is sneaker
Thanks for this video. Great information and getting some heel grips because the rubbing in the back is one of the worst things of wearing shoes heels or flats.
Hey! I just came across your channel. It's very helpful you should do an updated videos on these! and more heel recommendations :)

I generally prefer to go up half a size if I know I plan to wear mine with insoles. It will also depend slightly on the style of the shoe and whether you decide to use a full insole or a half insole.
I've never ever been able to wear heels. Sigh. It's sad.
does anybody have any tips for preventing blisters on the little toe....
Use medical tape on last two
compeed anti blister stick, works perfectly.
Put a compeed band aid on you toe before putting the shoe on. If you put a regular band aid, it will slip off your toe.
Moleskin.
I love to walk in high heels.

Hi,
Why these supports are used? As I am starting to wear high heels so I need knowledge for these cushions and supports
It helps to keep your feet comfortable when most shoes do not come with a lot of cushion. Walking on high heels where your feet is on a pitch puts a lot of strain on them. Shoes are also not always designed to fit all foot types, so supports help give you a most custom fit where you need it.
