the choice to remove the marines bolt pistol... such a painful loss of coolness, yet ultimately the correct choice for the model. I cant help but admire the dedication and RAW professionalism oozing from this sacrifice. I am close to tears.
Honestly, I think the first head would have worked better for a warboss - cunnin'ly brutal, staring down the Space Marine, watching in sadistic, orkish joy as he makes that 'umie scream - drinking in how he makes even a Space Marine break.
I think the ooen mouth work for a simple reason. to me it looks less like he is screaming at a marine he is squeezing and more like he just scooped up a marine and is about to have a mid battle snack
I seeing how Kitbosh keeps getting better and better at this. The conversions are becoming more and more polished, and the excellent video format allows the viewer to follow along in the design process.
I kinda wanna screw with you and commission a full on snakebite warboss that still catches the 40k aesthetic... Ya can´t use so many tekky bits then, but I´m sure you´d pull it off. :)
Thats kinda the thing about ol Ghazzy- his model out the box is just not even close to the scale he should be according to all the lore Ive read anyway. They do grow larger and more powerful in proportion to their Waaaagh size and success/status right? The Ork in this vid seems much closer to true proportions, not to mention badass. The removal of that killer bolt-pistol and the image was true professionalism, I hope the concept can be revisited.
Amazing kitbash. I liked both the shooty marine and the dying one, but can see why you switched to the latter. The first would be an epic piece for a cabinet if was sized up again.
Love your videos sir. Using your Techpriestess converted from the Nurgle Sorceress video as inspiration for my Dark Mechanincus Magos. All these Ork videos are tempting me to start an Ork kill team.
Your idea inspired me to make my own Ork Klan, the Tekfreeks. I haven't made any lore for them yet, but what else would you expect from big-ass Cyborks?
Have you ever considered making a khorne deamon? Like a huge one? Grabbing baby toys and melting the plastic to make the limbs look ugly kinda of khorne deamon? Just a Thought, but you could totally make some awesome deamons
I think the original marine would’ve worked fine to show that the space marine wasn’t giving up but then to show the rage and the uncaring of the warboss
I wish they'd do something more interesting with the orks. Toughness 5 is neat, I guess, but it seems like it's playing the primaris trick again. I'd love to see bigger champion/boss-type orks, squig monsters/mounts, 2-3 gretchin riding giant nob orks, and ramshackle Ork tech that shouldn't work. That's be nice for the asthetic and the rules. I've always thought that orks should have 2 wounds; they're supposed to be tougher than space Marines, but lacking in equipment... Maybe combine 2w with a -1 damage rule. Maybe give the boss different stat buffs depending on the size of the original unit to encourage 30-boy units. Gretchin mobs might grant cover to nearby Ork mobs or absorb Ork mob wounds on a 5+ to reflect their disposable nature in a Waaagh!.
@@astolbro7183 It's a self-fulfilling prophecy/catch-22... GW focuses on Space Marines because it's the faction that sells the most. Because space Marines get so much attention from GW, they sell more Space Marines than other factions. If they'd take a year or 2 off of Space Marines, other factions would grow in popularity... with the caveat that GW's prices may be keeping most players from collecting anything but the "best" overall army. All their problems are completely of their own making.
awesome build! This has to be my favourite of your ork warbosses to date! How similar/different is procreate to green stuff? is it worth getting one over the other?
Thanks! So procreate is less sticky and is thicker than greenstuff; basically it feels and works the same as greenstuff when greenstuff has been sitting around for about fifteen minutes, so it's just faster to use in my experience.
Looking great! A few questions, if you have the time. 1. Do you ship to the UK? and 2. Where do you source all these Defiler arms? That gets expensive real fast when all you need is one bit. (3. If it’s recasting, can you show us a how to video? I’m not very confident I’d do it as well as you can lol)
1. Yeah, though it's more expensive 2. You guessed it, I recast them. It's way too expensive to do otherwise. 3. The method I use is by no way that great. I just follow what dacrafsman does in the video where he shows how to grow silicon molds. It's honestly not too hard, though a bit expensive to set up the first time.
I want to make A Grimaldius as a Venable dreadnought finally having victory over an even bigger Gaz. Do you have any tips as to what bits I might need? This will be my first diorama.
I must say this is a really well executed build. Although I really like aspects of your previous ork warbosses, I generally found the poses really bad, just idling there like in a videogame. this one has both great design and posing, and although the marine veing the protagonist gave an extremely cool look to the mini, I agree that the mini had to have the ork be the protagonist instead.
While I agree with removing the Space Marines pistol, I don't agree with swapping the head. The original, with a more helpless Marine, told a story of a warboss taking a sort of cruel pleasure in the kill, savoring the act of crushing the Marine in his iron grip. I feel it adds that sort of malevolent intelligence and cruelty that separates the Orks from 40ks other unending horde faction, the Tyranids.
Oof. While most of this looks great, the head does NOT pick up well on the camera. All the little variations in its tone really make it hard to read visually. I'm sure once primed and brought to an even tone it'll be better, and then even better once painted, but as it is here, its real rough.
So close to being awesome but the legs are off. The right leg is way to high and bent and the foot looks like he's tripping on the plasticard. He's posed like a dancer.
The music doesn't really add to this. It's a bit too loud, and it is also *very* recognisable because it's so overused. The video would honestly be better off without it.

Can you do some imperial guard/dead stuff conversions?
It is worrying how fast I click on these videos now
I kind of would’ve liked to see the how the first gun’s barrels attached to two of the second guns barrels looked.
This one is great!
You could have kept the bolt pistol but have it in the space marine's limp grasp - almost falling out of his hand. Cool though!

Can we get a part list for making something like this ourselves?
