I love these brothers. Eric thanks for keeping the spirit of jazz alive. I'm not sure if Roy was scheduled to play or if he just walked up and sat in. Either way I love the spirit that this clip represents. This is the way jazz has always been performed. By the baddest cats on a bandstand getting together and jamming. Thanks for the upload!
GLAD You enjoy this Beautiful tune. THE composer is John Hicks.Pharaoh plays it like he wrote it. .I'm glad I gave up sports as well. You can hear my recording of this tune on my cd The Golden Rule 4 Sonny, with Giveton Gelin on trumpet. Roy truly Loved this young trumpet player.
Istvan Solihull Thank you Istvan Roy just walkd in right as i started this tune .The Crazy thing is i learned it from hearing Roy play it with Justine Robinson
I loved this tune by P Sanders w J Hicks years ago. Yellow covered cd on Beehive? With Africa, and You've Got To Have Freedom on it? Great cd. I've heard Mr. Wyatt's name but this is first time I've focused on his work. Great intro story and a wonderful rendition in a famous spot. Glad he ended up playing music not sports. (I don't watch sports much;-) ps-always good stuff with Roy Hargrove too! ...Timeless Records, not Beehive for Sanders disc, apparently... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Africa_(Pharoah_Sanders_album)
