That change in Dustin's face when Khabib escaped from the guillotine is unreal. The man came to know what is it to fight one of the best ever lightweights on the planet. OMG!
I've watched this fight many times and what was apparent to me the first time, just as it is on my 10th time, it seemed like khabib didn't go full out with the ground and pound during certain positions, as if he was almost being easy due to the respect he had for Dustin. You can say that sounds foolish, but we all know he chose not to break gaethjes arm in front of his parents, choosing instead to just put him down for a nap. Khabib may not be the GOAT due to fighting a few tomatoe cans, but if someone believes that they're not wrong. He fought stellar competition from RDA and on. The thing is, he made the tomatoe cans look the same as the very best in the UFC, so it's just a shame we didn't get the honor to watch him fight longer.
I think exactly the same! Everytime i watch the fight i feel like he could've won much aerlier but he probably prefered to make it last longer for the show and his father who was there that night.
I thought the exact same thing, it really looked like he avoided tapping him out early and at some points it almost seemed as though he let him go and let him get up. I respect Dustin but khabib was way out of his league
the thing is that khabib didnt (only) fight cans outside of the ufc. he dominantly beat former and future champs of other organizations like eldar eldarov (brave fc lightweight champ), whos only loss to this day is to khabib, he is 14-1. khabib also beat ali bagov, former champ of ACA, who was quite dominant (and roided lmao) himself. ali bagov is 32-11. shahbulat shamlaev also one of the names khabib has beaten. former muay thai champ and won a tournament in bellator. dude went on a 9 fight win streak after his loss to khabib and is 11-3. there are 3-4 other (former) champs on his record. mostly combat sambo and european mma champs.
