GTV-27 Broaching Demo

The GTV-27 gang-tool lathe turns a 1" brass stock using two operations. The first operation includes milling with C-axis synchronization, high-speed threading, and C-axis drilling. The second operation performs nibbling broaching with C-axis synchronization.

The GTV is capable of high-speed threading. There is very precise synchronization between the spindle and the tool. It may look like the spindle is just spinning independently, but in reality the spindle speed is linked with the tool feedrate.

@aazazaz That's a carbide insert threading tool, three sided it looked like. It looks nothing like a traditional 60 degree included HSS threading tool. Cubicmachinery already explained how it does the tread so I don't need to say that. Hope this helped.

not really, I have cut keyholes like that with a conventional lathe. 5mm wide with a cutting depht of 0.05 to 0.10mm. Its really easy on soft metals and goes with almost no force.

this would be pretty awesome for bike parts, i guess you sell a lot of these to china and taiwan.

not really. if the customer has a CAD file of the part he wants you could generate toolpaths really quickly, if you had to do it all from scratch maybe an hour.

These videos of CNC lathes are all well and good and everything, but they don't really teach anything. It's just some, "Hey, look at this," type stuff. But I guess that isn't the point. At least this video is better than most since it actually tells you what the tools are and what's going on.
