How in the world did you not review the insta mini evo in this video? Having the lcd on the back and choice to print which one you want seems like the ultimate pick.
I opened the comments just to ask for this. The INSTAX mini Evo is technically a hibryd camera. It takes digital photos (2 megapixels) and prints them like a instant camera. So it's more like 2-in-1 (digital camera + printer). Looking at the photos presented in the video, I think the EVO handles the exposure better, it doesn't look goofy and has many advantages over the regular instant cameras. I like the fact that you can backup the digital version of you photos, or that you can use it as a printer to print photos taken with a phone. I'm surprised it's not even mentioned in this video.
I like that you showed a lot of cameras in just 7 minutes. Of course there is just little information about every cam but we have a good overview and one can search for more information about the camera he is interested in.
no Fujifilm Evo Mini? Combining digital storage and printing saves a lot of money. I have quite enjoyed using mines at weddings etc, but has now been stolen by my daughter at uni
I recently swapped my Polaroid for an Instax square and I'm so much happier with it. The results are much better and the film is cheaper. What I like about the Polaroid is the size of the photo. It's a bit larger than instax square, but quality wise the Fuji wins.
@@TonyAndChelsea I think you're right about the patent thing. Funny thing is, the instax wide is almost the same size as the polaroid (including the white border), but with the thick border on the long edge and not the short one.

Wish I could add a photo on UA-cam comments. I have a mint Polaroid 360 - the old kind with bellows and I just wish the film was readily available. When the picture comes out of the camera you need to coat it with the chemical sponge or it will fade away quickly. Not today's tech, but a beautiful "instant" camera.
Design-wise, Polaroid cameras are better than Fuji Instax, but sadly , Polaroid chemistry sucks terribly, it so unstable, most of my photos come out green/blueish tint, and if it’s a hot day, they will turn magenta, but not in a good way, and the exposimeter on my Polaroid Now+ is all over the place doing crazy things. Around 60% of my photos on Polaroid are discarded (even using manual mode with the app), it’s so frustrating, but when I get a photo that turns out nice, it’s so rewarding. On the other hand, Instax chemistry is much more stable, you don’t get those crazy color hues depending the weather of the day, film is way cheaper than Polaroid and the exposimeter on my SQ6, Is always so reliable, I’m so in love with this camera. Around 80% of my photos turn out really nice with this camera.
Oh no, you got the Polaroid Now Plus. That's known to be the toughest camera for beginners to use. And it's tough to use overall, due to overexposure issues with it. The Now (non-plus) is much better, and more affordable.
Using the iPhone HDR is really annoying to look at because it over cranks the screen brightness. It is annoying because I have to adjust the screen brightness down while looking at these kinds of videos, and then readjust back to regular brightness for the next video.
I have SQ6 and Lomo square glass, Instax on BW is superior and NO, instant photo is not about photography, with these you can forgot all about photography, its only about catch right moment, thats i love it...
These guys either screwed up the polaroid film or had a bad pack of film. You can get amazing and artistic shots with Polaroid, and they only showed 1 camera of the 4 options Polaroid has.
Yeah, impossible bought out the last Polaroid film factory with the caveat that they don't get to use the name or get the recipe for the film. Then I guess were aquired by "Polaroid" 🙄 who obviously didn't have the recipe to correct the film being off by six stops or the ability to terminate the chemical reaction in film. Fuji is definitely the way to go right now. The resolving power of Fuji film is undercut by all these machines though, even their own. They are fun to shoot though
Instant cameras look good on paper, but the quality of the images that they make do not justify the high price point. You are better off using that money on 35mm film.
This was the forte of the Polaroid company that ceased production in 2008. The current user of the Polaroid brand is a new-ish company, initially named The Impossible Project. Their film is sadly not on par with pre-2008 Polaroid film.
Honourable mention for the instax mini evo. It's not exactly instant as you pick which ones you want to print, but also operates as a phone printer. Doesn't the Lomo square still come with an adapter to shoot mini film?
I’ve got two Polaroid cameras, and they do suck compared to Fuji. It’s a shame that they weren’t able to figure out how to recreate the original formula as that was better than Instax. They should go back to the drawing board and come up with something that works faster and more consistently.
@@jwbarsby they are doing that all the time. Current film emulsion is great. A lot of people is taking amazing photos with Polaroid cameras and film. The problem is when you depend on Photoshop and digital to create a “good” image (mostly plastic and artificial like the ones they do), of course you are gonna suck taking analog photos.
@@germansaez Bad Polaroids aren’t the always the fault of the photographer. To get reasonably good colours you need to develop the film at exactly the right temperature. This isn’t easy when you live in the U.K. and it’s always cold. Also the requirement of keeping each image in the dark for 15 minutes negates the whole idea of it being instant photography. I can develop a roll of 35mm film faster than that lol. Another issue I’ve had is fractal patterns appearing in the corners of images, due to the chemicals not spreading correctly. Instax doesn’t have any of these issues, it just works every time, with better colour and much better contrast. Let’s face it, this isn’t some high art form (Shoot film or digital for that) Instant photography is supposed to be fun and Polaroid is just awkward to use, expensive and often gives disappointing results.
Polaroid chemistry still sucks, and it’s nowhere near stable as Instax, I’ve got some really nice shots with correct exposure and framing but got a nasty green / blue hue that ruins the whole image just because the photo “wasn’t developed at the right temperature“ or if it was a sunny day it will basically turn pink highlights with purple shadows.
I think the appeal of these is more about the user experience than the end result. Or one could say that the appeal is about both the user experience AND the end result. For the subject, being photographed by something that's not a phone is also a novel experience.
There's something magical about it being completely analog. I snapped a really nice candid one of the bride and groom at a wedding, and they keep it on their mantle. I like that it's almost like a physical impression of the moment - the photons that left the image on the film literally touched what was in the photo.
I love your videos! I've viewed many over the last 7 or 8 months. Obviously I haven't come close to seeing them all. I have a suggestion, which you may have already done, but I haven't run across yet. I would like to see a video of the top five UA-cam channels that each of you are subscribed to, why you like them and a brief critique of each. They don't have to be about photography. And, you might do a second one on photography channels. Your videos are always interesting and informative. Thank you for all you do!
polaroid itype is the worst, suprised because all the online reviews say it's the best quality... however, their 600 film on old polaroid 600 cameras gives pretty good results
This is the HDRest of HDR. Although it is HDR, it looks very over-exposed a lot. It looks unnaturally bright, totally unlike other HDR content. I think with HDR, you only want to get "beyond SDR range" for naturally bright things like lights, sun or the sky. Even the cameras and white text look they're emitting light. Some scenes render highlights, even the cyan camera or light greys, like clipped whited blobs. Windows + HDR1000 display here
I wish you would have added some seriousness to your reviews. An example would have been for the wide. You say you will lose all of the lenses due to them not including a way of holding them. How do you not lose all of your lenses, filters and other accessories. Pretty lame content.
That this type of photography in the digital age is costly and you wasted a whole bunch of money for now reason to do a review that 1 in 1M viewers night actually want to follow through with and purchase new gear based on it.......
Why would anybody spend money on a polaroid like camera to take paper pictures and do what with them??? when everybody has a phone with a very good camera that can post pictures everywhere...unless this show is to push this useless cameras and you get paid for it, in esence you are a salesman and not a content creator.
Most people don't post everywhere and most phone images just accumulate in storage. There are hidden behind a screen and ignored. Leave a few instant (or any) prints on a table and people are drawn to them. They can pick them up and feel them
Oh dear, was it that bad?? It was on my Christmas list for this year (though with our dog having surgery and my car engine dying, it's not gonna happen). Good to know it's one to skip.

@@germansaezExactly. I have taken some amazing photos on my I-2 and SX70. Instax lacks the charm and size.
For everyone, who doesn’t want a goofy cam. Leica picked up the fuji instax format for a cam.
At twice the price.
Just buy a mobile printer at a lower cost and use your smartphone. If you want a distorted ‘analog’ look, just get an app for that.

I-Type and 600 film is exactly the same. I-Type doesn't includes battery, that is the only difference.
OP has no idea what they are talking about.
Hi T&C, do these have onboard storage? Sd cards etc...
Mini Evo > 99
Instax Mini Evo wins
This is the HDRest of HDR. Although it is HDR, it looks very over-exposed a lot. It looks unnaturally bright, totally unlike other HDR content. I think with HDR, you only want to get "beyond SDR range" for naturally bright things like lights, sun or the sky. Even the cameras and white text look they're emitting light. Some scenes render highlights, even the cyan camera or light greys, like clipped whited blobs.

Completely ignoring Polaroid out of the gate? What a waste of a review video!
We didn't ignore Polaroid; we bought a camera and film and demonstrated it.
You have to review the XS 70 Impossible Polaroid 600 Square Black One Step Camera, Black (PRD541)
Those are the ones I use
Instant physical prints is a valuable thing to many.
Most people don't post everywhere and most phone images just accumulate in storage. There are hidden behind a screen and ignored. Leave a few instant (or any) prints on a table and people are drawn to them. They can pick them up and feel them
No NONS SL660? I thought you'd be all over that one - fully featured interchangeable lens SLR using instax square film.
(I suppose if you're buying them yourself, that's a big chunk of change for one video)
We absolutely hated it so much we didn't want to even bring it up.
Oh dear, was it that bad?? It was on my Christmas list for this year (though with our dog having surgery and my car engine dying, it's not gonna happen). Good to know it's one to skip.
