Many thanks!!! Question: Would a failed fill (or drain) tube heater halt ice production? I am unable to get my 690/F to resume ice production. I have done all the following: Replaced icemaker, tested valve (works fine), verified continuity of wires to valve and ground (all good), verified all four switches work (two for the ice bucket, two in the door). Now guessing that perhaps either the fill or drain tube heater has failed - if so, would that cause the ice maker to halt production?
I'm assuming you have a modular IM and you can jump between terminal T & M to see if it turns. The left switch above the auger must be pressed in to call for ice. Let it ruin through a complete cycle to verify that you're getting water. If no water then it's your water supply. What I will do sometime is switch the harness that supplies water to the dispenser to see if the IM valve energizes, otherwise pull out the fill tube and check for clog.
Thank you for posting the video. Trying to replace the freezer evaporator defroster heater, do you have a video on how to remove the ice maker on a 685/S? The 685/S is slightly different on the left side and I can not seem to find all the screws holding the ice maker in place.
Hi I have a 690 model subzero the ice maker is working fine but the ice in the ice container is melting and freezing over as a block preventing the use of the ice dispenser would you by any chance know what could be the problem? Thanks
@@soniafortin4924 sounds like your ice maker or water valve need attention. I would check the water valve first to make sure it is stopping the flow of water at the end of a cycle or it could be a faulty ice maker.
What about the other side for the water/ice exit how does all that come apart? I have a unit that I would like to clean the bottle and discharge area really good. Thank you
You can peruse our Tech Help files at aaronsrefrigeration.com Find your model and go to Component Removal section. There should be instructions on how to remove the dispenser.
Some of the early module ice makers were problematic but SZ re-engineered them in the later models and they were much stronger. You can replace just the module with a newer design from most appliance parts stores, they're made by Whirlpool.
Hi again... Would you happen to know if the model 690 freezer auger motor needs grease... ever since my icemaker over flowed with water... the motor only rotates after I apply heat from a heat gun... then it rotates when I push for ice... but after I put everything back... it freezes up. motor works after the thaw... any lubricant to stop the shaft from freezing up if not do you know the partnumber... it has 2 push buttons like the one in this video Thank you
I found the part#...sub zero 690 7019633 but if there is a way to re-lubricate the gear/shaft etc... as the motor works when thawed. if not I'll have to buy a new one thanks
I've had augers freeze up but never had to grease one. I suggest you remove it and let it dry out, then make sure there's no water leaking down from the ice maker. Every time I had a frozen auger it was from the ice maker.
@@SubZeroSpecialists Ok thank you. I removed it when I warmed it up and tipped it over and a little water came out but didn't totally remove it and let it completely dry out... I'll try that this morning... if it happens again I'll have to buy a new one
You don’t need to remove it but you can. Another thing you can try is after you defrost the auger turn the ice maker off and see if you continue to get water, that could be a leaky water valve overflowing.

It over flowed because the new icemaker didn't have the correct shut off arm so we didn't have the plastic feeler to stop it from making ice... I removed it, dried it off and used compressed air to get all water /moisture out. thanks again... if it still locks up,,, I will just buy a new one
I've always wondered why even in a high end Sub Zero ice makers always fail or break!? I have a 511 which has worked without fail and still does for over 20 years but the ice maker lasted only 2 years before going kaput! I never bothered to have it serviced and just disconnected it and the water supply, what gives?
