Perfect timing Todd! Just about ready to purchase this one for my collection. As good as my Eton Elite Field is on the AM band with the 6" ferrite bar, I'm looking for just a little bit more edge. The 8" one in this C Crane should give me that edge without paying the big bucks on a CC Radio 2e/3. Thanks.😊

Enjoyed the review as always. I've owned one of these radios for about four years and the reception and sound quality are indeed impressive. But mine jumps around from station to station on AM. For example if I tune it to 720 it will receive that station for a few seconds then jump to 740 for a while, then 700 and so on. The stations will always be from the same general area of the dial, spanning maybe 30 kHz up and down from the frequency that's actually been tuned. The problem will improve after the radio has been on for a while but never totally go away. There are also instances where the audio will just suddenly stop, and the radio needs to be turned off and then back again to get it to play. This second problem is somewhat connected to weakening batteries but when I test the battery voltages after this has occurred they are often in the 1.3 to 1.4 volt range so they should still be usable. (I have had this "shutting down" problem with other dial-tuned DSP radios as well but never with any digitally-tuned ones.) I'm curious as to whether anyone else has had this happen with their EP Pro.
I know my new skywave 2 is picky on AA voltages. I have my EP-Pro connected to ac power with no issues. No dial jumping. That normally is rebound on the tuning belt, but your case sounds different. Always call C.Crane and ask their Support Staff. They are helpful.

The only complaint I have with mine is the tuning is off by about 20khz (so 1300 am on the dial is 1320). I wish there was a way to calibrate that. Other then that, a great radio and plays very nicely with an external loop if needed.

Bought mine last year. The AM noise floor at my house is very high, so have to go to somewhere quieter to DX

I like the EP Pro better than the CC Radio 3. 😊
Do other DSP analog tuning radios tune in steps like this, or is it the only one?
Not all DSP radios tune this well in my experience. The EP PRO implements DSP tuning perfectly with no false signals where they're not supposed to be.
I wish wish they would just add shortwave to the radio, keeping it same size
