I have been in C&R since 2005 and whats sad to me is back then C&R guns were everywhere, i loved buying from SOG and Century back then but now they are drying up, places are closing, and so many people are in the hobby now that its harder to find a good deal. The prices have gone up and a lot of people wont sell to a C&R licensed person. I used to buy a romanian SKS or mauser for $200-$250 in mint condition. Sad times now. At least Tiger is still trying to find guns. I have gotten a few of these in great condition from them.
I've been an 01 FFL since 1994. The golden days of surplus are behind us. There are no more huge stashes of milsurps left. Small caches in Central & South America are about all that's left. Most of what's left out there in Africa & Asia is "wall-hanger' grade.
@@donwyoming1936 I got pretty lucky with some of those "wall hangers" cleaned up. One of the Ethiopian K98s they sold me i've probably put 500+ rounds through
I’ve been collecting since 1987. Yup, I’m old. Back then the go to publication was the ShotGun News. I got an FR8 for $119 and a Russian SKS for $140.00. Those were the days.
I remember a few years ago when the 8x56 m95 carbines were in as mint condition as the unused mosin nagants, its sad to see the state the leftovers are in when compared to 10-15 years ago and those mint cond m95s were $100 cheaper than whats left now.
A few points about the Mosin argument... For the Mosin, you can still easily get the ammo, you can modify it to fit your needs with plenty of aftermarket part, it's a decent action, and it can be used as a hunting rifle or SHTF rifle. The Carcano doesn't really have that same appeal. The ammo is pretty hard to find, it has no options for modification, it has a lousy action, and 6.5 Carcano is only a meh round, so I wouldn't really choose this for a hunting or SHTF rifle. [I have both a M91/30 Mosin and a G-VG condition RTI M91] While I agree that these rifles will go up in value over the coming years, They will never see the level of demand (and thus price jump) that Mosins have experienced. Old and harder to find does not always equal valuable. There needs to be something about them that keeps them worth something; like the Mosin's versatility and ammo availability.
Mine came August 20th. No top wood and no bayonet which conveniently they have on their website for 20 and 50 bucks. So for 70 more dollars it would be complete. Of course mine didn't come eoth the two parts they are selling. Lol..
