  • Finding good, quality shoes for a cheap price is much easier than you may think. We once did a video discussing how eBay is a great option for finding quality shoes at bargain prices. Find it here: • Allen Edmonds $100 Eba... Today, we're checking out Goodwill stores. I will show you how to find those higher quality shoes, and I'll discuss what shoes NOT to buy.

In the UK we have literally dozens of 'charity shops' in every town, the ones in more expensive areas can sometimes sell really great items at low costs. One of my best finds was a pair of Loakes boots for £10 that lasted me years as well as a nice pair of Barkers brogues for a similar amount. It's getting harder and harder to find these great deals as a lot of pro eBay sellers will scour them clean.

Another tip - I wear uncommon sized clothing and shoes. So I've left my business card with a lot of thrift store managers, with my sizes written on the reverse of the card and my "finder's fee" price. It works great for me! Every once in a while, I'll get a call about something in my size. If I buy it, I give my finder's fee to the person who called me.

      @@moon-moth1 - I believe you mis-read my comment.
I never "pay under the table" - I pay at the cash register like everyone else.
I never ask for anything to be "held back."
Plus, you missed that I left my business card with the MANAGER, if the MANAGER of the store approves my request. The employees who contact me are extremely grateful for the additional money they receive because I make it worth their while.
No one is forcing anyone to do anything.
Not sure why anyone would be upset and outraged at the prospect of earning additional money.

Todays video couldn't have come at a better time. I just was at my local Goodwill store last week and got a pair of pristine Magnanni monk straps for $6.99. From what I've learned from you guys they look to be a Blake stitch leather sole and also look to have a stacked leather heel ( although I'm not positive about the heels ). For someone like me who has champagne taste and a beer budget thrift store shopping is the way to go. For me it's the thrill of the hunt. Even when I travel I'll check out thrift stores in other towns. Again , great video today guys and keep 'em coming. BTW Salvation Army and estate sales are also good places for great finds. :)

Great find! Yep, most Magnanni’s are blake stitched. I believe some may be Goodyear welted, and if I remember correctly, many do have leather blocks. Great point regarding the Salvation Army and estate sales.

And with the estate sales there may be a chance someone actually died in the shoes. Perhaps morbid but, well, by consequence that is the possible reality.

Awesome video. My first ever pair of dress shoes were purchased this past December at a thrift store. Found a pair of black Alden's for 10 dollars that were in great shape, except for the laces that tore apart in a couple of weeks of use. Other than that, just polished them and they look amazing. Best purchase of my life lol

Fantastic video! Doing a video featuring Goodwill shopping was brilliant--would love if you'd do one for the ladies when you get a chance. Would also love (even though they're not from a customer) to see a video of you restoring those vintage Florsheims!

Shine the shoes up, and hit them with a little disinfectant spray, and you are ready to roll through town with good-looking shoes! But don't forget the disinfectant spray!

Over here in Australia we have Salvation Army and St Vincent. I checked out a local store two days after watching this and found a pair of Red Wings 9107. I'm gonna get them resoled in Vibram soon then they'll be my casual/summer hiker. Not bad for 20 bucks!

Very nice to have access to places like this, in the end all this is possible because of the heritage and tradition that got these shoes made in the first place. In europe, unless you live in england there's a much lower chance of finding anything close to quality at least when it comes to shoes in a physical second hand location.

Hi Trenton & Heath, love your channel btw. I stumbled on your channel when I was looking for ASMR vids. The refurbishing vids are my fave because it's unintentional ASMR. My vids suggestions for your future vids would be
    1) Go to Goodwill again & actually refurbish a shoe that you'd purchased
    2) Do more ASMR vids
    and lastly...
    3) Do a video where you both show us your shoe collection & which ones are your faves

I bought old pair of dexter lwb on eaby. I cleaned them with acetone and after that I conditioned the shoes. Took them to my cobbler and he re shaped the shoe as well as got vibram 430 on the bottoms. Great option for a more casual pair of dress shoes if you want a lot of grip with out a bulky sole. One of the best investment I ever done with a pair of shoes

*not sure if you read comments, 5 years ago in Hudson, NY I was in shoe area. Saw a beautiful pair of black loafers that said “made in Italy” I used my phone to look them up. They were Santoni penny loafers. Researching model they were $995 new! That’s more than all my shoes total. I’ve conditioned, polished and kept in shoe trees. Some heel wear and sole wear but Made in Italy still readable. I sent pictures to a cobbler for a tuneup repair for an estimate. My favorite shoes! I paid $7 that’s right $7 love your show!

Oh yes, there are treasures to be had for a song. Recently two mint Allen Edmonds from the same GW store (same rack) on different days: $10 + $14.99; someone must have died. In my (very average) 8D. Boom. Here in Los Angeles we have lots of great inventory to dig through. All the thrift stores here are gold mines. Big cities have big stuff. Thanks for promoting the thrift culture. It's important now, and will only increase in relevance. No one needs new ANYTHING. The planet is maxed out, as you may have heard.

I've been going to GW to buy books, (I'm an avid reader) for about 4 or 5 years, but about 3 years ago I found my first pair of J&M boots that did not need any repair, then I got hooked on Florsheim. What I do is, if I like the style, color and quality but is not my size, I look for it on Florsheim online and buy the exact size, avoiding the anxiety of not knowing if I'm going to keep them or return them (hassle). At the moment I own 7 pairs of boots, all in great condition, Johnston & Murphy, Florsheim, Frye, Red Wing and Cole Haan which are inexpensive but very good looking. Boots and books!

Saw this video a few weeks ago and checked out a local thrift store. Found a couple pair of boots that just needed a bit cleaning. So checked out another a short distance away first shoe was a vintage Florsheim antelope shoe. A week later another store 3 pairs of Allen Edmonds, 2 pairs Florsheims and a Cole Haan all for $46 ! And all in pristine condition.

Definitely try to visit as many Goodwill stores near you as possible. I have one close by that is perfect for shoes, and I've found some nearly unworn shoes that would cost $50 or more anywhere else. Other stores are better for clothes, tools, electronics, etc.

Got a pair of Nick's Builder Pro boots from a lady who sent them off to be resoled, then had a serious injury before they came back. Got them for $50 with brand new soles, and took them to a cobbler i know and got them cut-down to a 6-inch boot, and stitched for $12 lol. Safe to say that it was a steal in all aspects
