We would use cornmeal clean suede
YES! I was surprised to see that these fine products weren't listed below.
Yes, please add the links for the products you used... Thank you!
I like suede, that's why subscribed your channel
👍🏽 yes
Very intriguing channel. It goes beyond repairing what seems to be the irreparable. The narrator's voice is calm, direct, soothing and wise. The quiet music adds to the serenity of it all. There's a meditative dynamic to these stories. Well played Oxford. Subbed.
I feel the exact same way. I didn't even know I could feel passionate about leathercare, but now I want to take care of my new shoes, my boyfriend's shoes, and just give each leather shoe the love it deserves. The way he repairs some shoes that look beyond salvaging is so crazy.
hearing you say that the 90's is vintage makes me feel old lol
Vintage means nothing anymore. Something 10 years old will be described as "vintage". It's a useless term.
Vintage is a style, so it might be referring to that. But seeing as the 90’s were nearly 30 years ago, it wouldn’t be necessarily *wrong* to call it vintage.
Still makes me feel old lmao.
By Vintage, I think Preston is referring to quality. The brand has lowered their own bar, and changed it's assembly standards to a mass produced, and cheaper quality shoe. Trenton and Heath now has it on their Do Not Buy list.
If you wore it in high school it’s not vintage, if your parents wore it in high school then it’s vintage.
@@codename495 Umm, well since high school was almost 50 yrs ago for me I think that counts as vintage ...my parents stuff would probably be considered antiques ;)
You should try Saphir's suede conditioning spray. It has pigment in it too, so it brings back the color of the suede. I really recommend it. Great video!
They didn’t look horrible to begin with but looked AMAZING at the end!!! I officially want a pair of suede shoes now lol!
Another great job! This is why I love thrift stores. You just never know what you will find!
The music made me feel like the shoe had feelings and was excited to be cleaned and owned again. 😭😂😂❤️
No words
I honestly don't know what I'm more impressed at: the shoe restoration or how clean and neat your nails are given the products you use. 👏
I wash my hands and my wife clips my nails. I’m spoiled.
@@TheElegantOxford It's good to see you wearing gloves as well. I read that our skin is our body's largest organ and that anything we put on our skin is in our bloodstream in just a few seconds.
It is a pleasure to watch a master craftsman at his work
Can I just say that this video is BY FAR my favorite you have done? It steps away from the your usual mastery works and takes an often over looked piece and says, "Watch me!" I love it. I have suede shoes and have simply not seen this level of care. Fantastic.
There is something soothing about watching you restore these shoes. Suede is my absolute favorite!! Thank you
Good job. Thanks on sharing this video on properly cleaning suede shoes.
I've taken up this hobby because of you. I would like to thank you Preston. It's fun , relaxing and rewarding. My shoes never looked better!
It's great to see that someone still cares about a decent pair of shoes in this day and age when things are cheap and expendable.
True. And when everyone is in sneakers...
@@zmrkljez Guilty as charged! I bust a pair of sneakers about every four months with the mileage I do. I buy two or three pairs at a time, but now that everything is made in China or Vietnam etc., I find that the expensive "Brands" aren't much better than the cheap stuff. I had a wife that always bought cheap shoes for work but I finally got her to understand that for a great part of our lives we are on our feet so if we want them to last we're better to buy "good" shoes, regardless of cost. She still reckons that's about the only wise info I ever imparted to her
@@sandymacpherson9400 😁😁👠
zmrkljez there’s nothing wrong with sneakers.
My custom Jordan's are not cheap
I stumbled onto your channel, a couple of days ago and I have been watching quite a few of your videos. I have been learning a lot, on how to restore and care for beautiful leather and suede shoes. I am a woman and these tutorials will come in quite handy for me, as well. I just want to say THANK YOU, ELEGANT OXFORD, for some very invaluable information, as well as, showing some very beautifully restored shoes, for men. I have been positively amazed at how new some pairs of your shoe finds end up looking. Even some very tired and worn shoes look fabulously refreshed and nice, again! Thank you, again, Elegant, for your time and efforts. This is definitely news I can use! =)
Thank you for watching! Stay tuned for more
Lovely to see a push back on our throw away society! Especially when u realize that a perfectly serviceable quality footwear can be returned to service at a fraction of the cost of replacement and saved from the landfill. Bravo!
Can you put links to the products you're using and recommend?
You,my fam,are giving me some solid shoe shining goals
I literally just bought a pair of J&M dark blue, suede chukkas; friggin love them!
I don’t even have elegant, expensive shoes but love to learn about this. One of this day I will buy me a pair or look for used ones. No more look a like leather shoes that last a season. Thank you maestro for this lessons.
Thanks for valuing a piece of art and preserving an art skill.😃👊 Post more videos. 🖖🖖 Live long and prosper!🖖🖖
I love the tips of how to wear them and color combinations to use. Man, your good!
Just rejuvenated my first pair via your directions. So far, so good! Thanks Preston!
Oh my, these shoes are so amazing!!!!
I have those too...and I've learned many things. Thanks always a follower
@7:51 - you know, I was thinking about the transition months between seasons and how to transition my shoes and wardrobe accordingly. I decided to use nature as my guide. Glad to hear someone else confirming my intuition.
I just love watching your videos! so classy!
could you please do some videos on women's shoes? love the channel
Women rights movement is here!
I second this!
Yes I would love it too.
I'm wondering if there are different sizes & shapes of shoe trees
@@InnohubGroup What do you mean by "Women's shoe"? High Heel shoes?
I'm pretty sure the process is same.
Great tip at the end with looking at nature for color combinations
Thank you SO MUCH! I take really great care of my clothes and shoes since I've always had a middle of the road income and like to look like I have much more. I'm also good at picking out classic styles that never look dated. Living in the Pacific Northwest makes it difficult to prevent damage from water or even mud. I have shoes and clothes that are 40yrs old and look brand-new. I have never found a decent tutorial on cleaning or restoring suede. Your advice was wonderful. I especially was not aware of the importance of a shoe tree in the cleaning/restoration process. My grandfather always had his dress shoes supported by a shoe tree when stored. Now I need to get one for ladies shoes. Thank you!
Jesus that was a good find. Those look great.
Amazing results!
Perfect with a tweed jacket, corduroy pants and a shetland pullover.
For the price you got these for that was an absolute steal! Awesome find. I hope you found more items like this since then
Hello Preston. Thanks for sharing, great great job.
Wow lucky duck. Great find!
Thank you for your channel.
The Mrs always looked at me funny as if I were the only man who cared about his shoes. Not anymore!
You do excellent work.
Keep it up!!!
As I expected, fantastic job! 👍❤️
Definitely going to try this methodology some suede casual chaps that I own.
What a delight to see the love & pride this guy takes in his hobby & may be livelihood. But I am equally amazed by the expert & keen comments. I have always loved my shoes too. As a kid, I would keep my shoes in a high place after taking off lest they be soiled!😊
👍
They look fantastic.
I wonder if this would have saved Jerry's jacket after that fateful walk in the rain to the restaurant with Elaine's dad?
Nancy boy!
I have multiple suede shoes I need to do this to.. great video!!!
Suede looks great with all sorts ofwinter trousers: tweed, wide wale cordurory, herringbone wool pants, etc...
Wow! I’m a reseller and your videos are amazing and very helpful! Also I was in the military and you brought me good memories of shoe shining days lol! Thanks again!!
Thankyou, I might not be as frightened of suede in the future!
Nicely done! I've restored a few pairs of suede shoes similarly, although I haven't yet gotten the Saphir suede shampoo, but keep meaning to... thank you and keep up the great work!
Now THAT was an interesting video and I enjoyed it very much! You really went to a thrift store and bought a good pair of shoes and brought them back to original look. Thank you for showing us how.
Wow! You really brought those suede shoes to life!
Thanks for all the tips, I also found a pair of suede shoes in a thrift store for only $3, so now I'm looking forward to giving them a good clean up.
Wow! Just perfect.
Quite impressive. Reminds my the time on primary school and the habit to shine my shoes every Sunday afternoon. As of today, I am using shoes every working day and the task to get them clean is therapeutic and sort of "back in the day"...
Nice video and thanks for sharing.
Good to see what I can do to maintain my suede shoes. I've recently found your channel and I'm so glad that I did! I for one, always buy leather shoes and learned years ago to clean and polish them. Not to your obvious professional level, but in a way that makes me proud to pull out my shoes year after year that I have taken care of. It's worth the money spent to buy shoes that can last and still be looking good. Will be investing in some new products and looking for more videos. Thanks so much! Best foot forward 😉🥿👞👡👢
Incredible stuff, keep it up!!!
Awesome video, I have about 12 pair of shoes, all Allen Edmonds and Johnston and Murphy, some in mint condition $7 each...
Once again..amazing tutorial.
Wow, I would rock those!
I found/bought a beautiful pair of ALDEN/New England model, just this morning at a Goodwill store, in Annandale, VA., for $4.00!!! Talk about a steal!!! They are tannish/copper suede and fit me like a glove. May have been worn 2 times, so I am a very fortunate beneficiary, and enjoyed your timely video about caring for suede. This is the very first pair of suede shoes I have ever owned, and want to ensure that I do not get them spotted with rain. Can hardly wait to wear them to church, tomorrow, for Mother's Day observance!!!
A man that cares about his shoes 👞 will also care about things you care about. (That has been my experience). A caring person always cares for his shoes!
Very nice, and I made it a habit when I was young to shine my shoes and kept it.
Wing tips are beautiful no matter if they are suede or leather. They are among the classiest shoes ever made.
I'm already so in loooove with your channel!
Couldn't wait to see more!❤
Thank you for this. I picked up a pair of AE suede shoes that need some TLC and your video shows me how to do so.
I love your tutorials. It takes me back to when my father was alive (b. 1928 d. 2015). He took GREAT care of all his leather shoes, belts, etc. He really enjoyed restoring ones he found at thrift stores, as well, like you! I donated dozens of his elegant Johnston & Murphy shoes to thrift stores when he passed. You join him and others we call Renaissance men. Well done sir!
I’m honored to be placed up there with father. He has a great daughter, I can tell. Thank you for your comment.
I love all these videos. So informative and relaxing.
Thank you for sharing, I have some suede shoes haven’t wore for a long time. Let’s Go
I’m really enjoying your videos!, is a lot of fun watching a pair of shoes become alive again, even do the suede ones where in great shape.
Thank you for this! I've been trying to keep my suede companions with me for as long as possible - Since I absolutely love them - but I was never sure on how I best care for them.
Your voice is so soothing. The shoes look great! It shows you take pride in what you do.
I just stumbled across your channel, it's great! While I don't even own shoes to where this is applicable I do enjoy watching these videos. It goes to show that it is possible to have great shoes on a budget!
They look amazing! #shineyourshoes
Nice job! FYI . . .I have found that using body powders (baby, foot, etc) or bake soda is a good way to disinfect used shoes prior to cleaning/restoration . . . the powder gets into all the nooks and crannies
Fantastic work again
I never have luck like yours finding good desirable shoes at the thrift stores. Great restoration
The best ASMR and you are an artist
I like those kind of shoes Sr. They're very nice!
stunning, just stunning
Thank you Preston. I needed this tutorial badly:)
I love watching this! Something about it😄
These videos are just lovely.
OMG I HAD THESE EXACT SAME SHOES 😍😍😍
Great work. I luv Oxfords, I own a couple pair, and always look for more. Great tips on the Suede ones as far as cleaning. Thank u for sharing.
Not sure on the YT recommendations. But this is another Therapeutic channel. The narrator's voice is so calming.
Great work all round 👏
Thank to you I love taking care of my boots, your awesome
I love these videos. I have learned so much to help me in my eBay business. Just awesome.
God bless you brother. You are the shoe king. For sure.
Liked the styling tip at the end
One of my favorite channels thank you!
Thanks I have suede shoes I don’t wear because I didn’t know you could clean them like that
Looking forward to wearing them now
Thanks
I found some Johnston and Murphy's once at a thrift, thought they were quality shoes, but nobody wanted em. I did bump into a guy that knew quality stuff, so I just gave them to him.
Great job cleaning these up I'm going to do this to my light suede shoes as soon as I get all the products I need. Can you put up a link for everything you use? Perhaps a video of all the products and shoe trees with links in description? Contact the manufacturer because I really feel you should be getting something for recommending their merchandise. You use them as they should so I can't see why they wouldn't help you out.
Wow they look incredible!!
Thank you so much!
Dang your good at this. I wish I had that kind of skill since I don't have much money for shoes and I need formal oxfords for church. I might cheap out or find a pair that is easy to repair without chemistry
Those are really cool!
Now you can say you walked a mile in another man's shoes
Beautiful wing tips. My father will those. Good memories vintage memories I'm glad you appreciate it
Preston you're the best you have taught me alot with my new found hobby keep up the good work.
Nice score at the thrift store. They look really nice!
Awesome. Think I need to send you my old shoes to
Loved this video..the full range of treating, cleaning and respecting the beauty of this lovely leather...most appreciated thank you.Yes let us know the products used as it saves researching or trial and error time wasters.Thamk you...Karen in NZ
Preston, I've always cleaned my suede shoes simply with a damp terrycloth rag, and that works very well. But I'm going to have to try the products you suggest.
Learned something new today shoeshine boy!
