Hi Stephanie - thoroughly love your channel. So much realistic inspiration. Have to tell you a story....my Hubs and I live in Oregon and spend winters at our second home in AZ. During our travels back and forth, I ALWAYS stop at High Fashion Fabrics in Sacramento. A place I learned about from you! This month, my Hubs wandered into the store with me and told the staff that I traveled from Oregon to shop there. They wanted to know how I knew about their place and were shocked when I showed them your UA-cam channel. Very thankful and appreciative. I hope they contact you and give you a nice discount or something. In the meantime, I have a new stash to sew from and more of your videos to watch for great ideas and motivation. Thank you!! Judi
when my daughter was little we went shopping for an Easter dress and I found one I liked but it cost more than I wanted to pay. So I went through the patterns I had for her and found 3 that had the features that I had seen in that dress. I took pieces from all 3 and made her dress. It turned out to look almost identical to the dress I wouldn't buy. My mom who taught me to sew could cut out a dress without a pattern and they always fit perfectly. I have used this technique often to get the look that I want. Great job.
You are so talented! I love both dresses. Thank you for sharing your thought process with us. I get so frustrated when a project doesn’t fit the way it looks on the pattern. I am learning from you to look at it as a “fun” challenge and be more patient.
Omigosh! 😲 I LOVE THAT DRESSSSSS! You look so cute in it! You know, I really struggle with picking out fabric. Here are some issues: I walk into a fabric store and I’m instantly overwhelmed. I often only have vague ideas of what I might want to make. I might want to make some cute casual tops…but get sidetracked by squirrels like bridal wear, dance wear, fleece on sale, weirdly textured fabric, sparkly vinyl, and semi sheer fabrics, to name a few! Lol 😆 I soon forget why I’m there, and I have a cartload of bizarre fabrics! With no clue what I’ll make. Which also makes it hard to know how much to buy. Or….If I do have an idea of what I want, I can never find it in the store! I love knits, but often I’ll just find a teeny, small section of knits, and they are the wrong kind. If I’m looking for shorts or pants fabric, I tend to not buy the correct weight, and often my pants are too thin and lightweight. It looked good in the store, tho! Am I the only one with these issues?
Oh my gosh! I need to do a video about this because I really relate to what your saying!! And I have done and DO the same. One thing I can tell you that really helped me, go in to your closet and really look at your favorite garments. The ones you wear over and over. That’s the fabric you need the most. Of course, for me, it would be black black black…lol. But seriously, it helps to imagine what the fabric will become. Thanks for sharing!!!
@@FarrellFocus That’s a really great idea! I’ll have to try looking a bit closer at the few things in my closet that I really like. Yes…I’d love to see a video on choosing fabrics. I can’t tell you how many projects I’ve trashed because halfway through, I realized it was way too sheer, way too clingy, way too thin, way too slippery, way too snaggy, way too noisy….etc. Lol 😆
Lovely dresses Stephanie. That jersey dress pattern is one of my favs too so I adore the fact you changed the sleeves. Thanks for showing the method you used. I also tend to line a sleeve flounce if the fabric isn't the same both sides, I recently didn't and now won't wear that top, wish I had taken the time 😂. Love a mash up 👏🏼👗xx
I’ve recently discovered your channel and I’m loving it. Some great sewing ideas - you’re inspiring me to try new things. I also like hearing about the other things you get up. Oh and a happy birthday to you. 🎂 🍰 Hope you get your cake and frosting!! You’re looking good my lovely! 👍
Luv this.. that sleeve is so awesome .. Thank you for showing how you do the pocket..I have been working on this for a while to get the pocket to sit right.. and have ended up hand sewing the edges to get it to sit right 😏.. So glad to hear your snow has melted.. We have some mini daffodils and crocuses starting to bloom .. hopefully yours are starting to come up😊
Beautiful mashup! Love your makes! All you Friday sews seem to be short and I am 6’, sooo….I have a difficult time fitting But I’m going to try this one!
I love those sleeves too! Question: Is it possible to make a knit garment out of a pattern calling for woven fabric? Your woven sleeves to knit dress had me thinking about this. If you have done it, can you make a video explaining how to? It's one of those questions that I can't find good answers searching the internet.

I have not done it, but I’ve thought about it. I think there are some videos on it. Let’s do it!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Is that the way you usually fit too-large necklines? I always have a problem with these.
I’m not really sure Anne. I think I need to watch some videos on that, I keep having that issue. 🤷🏼♀️
