This movement is a difficult one to hold back the tears to at the best of times, but when you can see the second clarinet playing silently along during the clarinet solo it just goes to show how deeply personal this music can be, even for those who have spent thousands of hours practising and perfecting their craft. Stunning.
I think of a huge grassland meadow with flowers.. trees in the distance and a warm breeze that smells like flowers. :) Thanks for such beautiful music.
After the crushing blow of No1...No2 is a triumphant miracle...ravishing beauty blended with forceful surging....Only Russians can truly capture his longing...beautiful.
I read somewhere, that lost in time. That Rachmaninoff had written actual lyrics where the clarinet solo is. I can not validate if that is true in fact or not, that it's just what I had read.
How did he possibly create such heart-filling, tear-bringing music? This never fails to move me. Many thanks Sergei.
Music arrives at some kind of peak here. It does. And who wants to leave such loveliness ? It is an amazing symphony.

Absolute beauty, as if I saw the sky and the beautiful landscape. Rachmaninoff is a magical world of sound ..

CatfishHunter61 Check out Eric Carmen's pop hit "Never Gonna Fall In Love Again" from the 70's.
