Hi Yannie. Question! I have thick locs (less than 50) and my hair takes multiple days to dry. Won't this cause mold? I try to air dry but my locs get flattened overnight and they stay damp for days.
Hiya I need advice for my son he ASD with dreadlock and has lots of build that I can't get out what is best to out the build up out he is only 8 yrs old what is best to rewisit with as I use lots of grease to twist his hair because he is very sensitive and don't want to cut his hair
I don't have locks, but my hair is natural. I stopped laying down my edges with gel since watching Yanni! My hair stays disrespectful 24/7 now. Thanks for helping me to embrace my edges. I'm not a slave to neatness anymore.
👏👏👏👏👏
She said "You can't even see the scalp, very disrespectful just the way I like it". 🤗
Right, lol
See.
Wish we had lock specialists like you in South Africa 🙇♀️
Yeesssss. But her videos are a blessing. Learnt so much from her
Her videos are based on * keeping it simple- I think ppl with locs do too much-- leave thr hair alone ----- no products - only oil - no bleaching - no twisting other than twice or 3 times a year - I love her teachings - I started a loc journey at 53 and I listen to everything she says and I have hair doing its thing!!!! Oh she also says for moisture every now and then ( spray rosewater mixed with vitamin e oil half and half-
Thank you Queen
I wish so too!
Or Canada👌
Her locs are stunning! Thank you Yannie for teaching us for so many years 🙏🏾
Jimmy’s washes look so relaxing, I have home grown locs... no one has ever touched my locs. I’m want Yannie to bless my crown. Her locs look gorgeous✨.
Same here
Same i started my locs n i still learning how to maintain them
I concur sis I want Yanni to touch my baby's
He gives the worst washes. Clients have already filed complaints about him and his ridiculous eyebrows and I had to write him up many times. Lmaooooo.
@@YannietheLocologist 😂😂😂😂
This channel is the very best for locs!!!!! I must reiterate that. No one in my family or immediate surroundings has locs, so I come to Yannie’s channel to get EDUCATED. Hairdressers don’t seem to have the knowledge that Yannie has. Yannie preaches health over looks and styles. Locs is about taking care of your hair and leaving the European hair standards behind. Decolonizing the beautiful natural rich African texture. Love your videos Yannie! Keep them rolling ❤
Yannie, you're a MAGICIAN. A veritable loc wizard!! Wow. The before and after difference is amazing. Shout out to Jimmy too for the spectacular wash.
That sister has glorious thick disrespectful locs. That's my dream set of locs.
Her locs are just thick and gorgeous..
There are water soluble gels meaning they break down in water, a good brand would be Lion Locs; they have everything specifically for locs and the moisture. A lot of water based gels end up having a lot of alcohol like eco-styler. Pick water soluble instead of water based really. I use it only for styles for events and it doesn’t matter how long it’s in as soon as water hits it it disappears and I’m back to my disrespectful locs 😂
@7:55. Made me say "oh wow!" out loud. Her hair is beautiful!
Whew! That’s a thick head of locs. Reminds me of my density.
I hope you and Jimmy and your dogs are staying safe during this time! Thank you for this and your past videos!
Yannie you have the prettiest hands
I soo addicted to watching these videos. It has soo changed my mindset on carrying for my lox babies. Many Blessings to you and Jimmy!
I stay in Uganda and I have learnt a lot from you because I have locs and I wanted to learn all the things concerned with the proper care of locs because the person who installed my locs was suggesting things that I already felt that I couldn’t do to my hair because I wanted them to be a certain a way and he was insisting on what would be best for me yet it wasn’t so. I anyway immediately didn’t go back to him.
Jimmy did a wonderful job and her locs are beautiful ❤
Absolutely beautiful. I love how healthy and luscious her hair is!
Man her hair is beautiful!! So thick!!
Her hair is so gorgeous and rich💗
That dryer is necessary for baby locs, as that water will allow mold to grow. Once mature and fully loc’d air drying is great!
Ahhh......,ummm......, Yannie, •We’ve Only Just Begun• song was before your time too😐. 🤣🤣. You’s a young’en too Yannie🤣🤣 Another great job done by you and hubbie, her hair looks nice!!🏆
I just wanted to say that you and Jimmy are very patient with your clients and I truly appreciate that.
Hi Yannie, if talking about water based gel, there is a homemade gel made of flaxseed and water that we started out locs with. Washes right out and leaves little residue.
Great job Yannie and Jimmy. Her locs are gorgeous!!!!!!
May you Yannie and your King be Blessed!!! You continue to share your love for others and teaching all who have an ear to hear how to love and care for our loced crowns. Asante Sana. May you always be blessed.
Her hair is beautifulllll.
Beautiful full thick head of hair!😍
Gorgeous head of hair. Healthy advice as usual.
I started my locs 2 years ago when I did they put it in a style right and having grown up with the concept of pain is beauty and your gonna keep that hairstyle for a max of 2 months cause they paid money for it... I didn't undo it even after having to take pain killers just to sleep..... So after keeping it for a month I undid it.. Did my hair not fall out 😭I literally paid someone to snatch my hair out haven't been to a salon since
Smh. You are literally saying all the things I talk about. I feel you pain. I pray your beautiful hair grew back.
@@YannietheLocologist it was thanks to your videos that Ive learned how to take care of my hair! ❤️
Team Australia...we need people like you here and that hair good. Blessings Jimmy & Yannie
Her hair is beautiful!
Beautiful, luscious, healthy Loc’s, yessssss Yannie
Hair is so thick and beautiful! Fantastic
Her hair is amazing 🙌🏾
Use flaxseed gel ......boil hand full of flaxseed in water until it thickens
Always love your advice and teaching, I find them absolutely helpful, thank you
I love how much you inform us about our hair. Because of your knowledge I have healthy locs. I don't put anything in my hair at all. Not even oils it makes my hair stink like a foot as Yannie would say.
Beautiful client, beautiful hair, and beautiful work! Your advice is helpful to me and I keep my hair in twists currently. Still looking for lightweight products to maintain a healthy scalp but your videos are a God send!!
Shouts out to Nefertiti... my locs were started at the same shop... Textures by Nefertiti in Detroit. It's the best natural hair shop in Detroit
First of all The Carpenters We've only just begun is my jam!
On another note... I'm still guilty of product usage. I gotta do a 1 year cleaning too.
Thank you for the knowledge. Love your videos, South Africa ❤️
Watching mr Jimmy wash the hair is very meditative 🙂
Her hair is BEAUTIFUL !!!!!
I really want to come to you from Rhode Island one day; I'm currently unemployed. My locs are to my shoulders and I have build up even though I haven't used product in over a year! I'm 29yrs old, I admit that I am hesitant to contact you because I practice Islam where our heads stay covered in mixed company and your King does the washing. I do not want to cause your place of business any difficulties, but if you have any DIY tips for soaking & removing build up that'd be very helpful 😊
I watched some from this platform but they are all different, very weird, and you advise seems more helpful! Sorry this was so long...
Her hair is beautiful
beautiful crown 😍
Beautiful healthy hair I love to see it
Beautiful locks,great job yannie
she has beautifuuul hair
I have buildup that looks like it’s embedded in the core of my locs, is there a way to remove it? Other videos said to scratch it with a comb like when taking out braids but that isn’t possible without coming out my hair
Did you find a solution? I’m having the same issues. I use the acv wash but I’m still having issues
i use african black soap to wash my hair it does great and i wash every 2 weeks
Beautiful!
Beautiful hair!!
I really enjoy your videos!
Thank you so much
Started my loc jornary eight years ago... Had product put in my hair I wish then what I know now important things one is retwist done every three or four months, and with oil
Welldone to you and Jimmy I have been watching all the time and I just keep following you because you are the best out of the others I watch God bless you.
Jimmy,you do,A,grate Job,on,the,locs,wash God bless you 🙏 and your family 👪
When are you coming to London, England? Haha
How i wish, i would book her to bless mine. I follow all her instructions and my locs are bomb. Maybe one day she'll come over after covid madness.
Great job!👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽👊🏾👍🏾
The water based gel i think your referring to is African Formulas Super Grow Hair gel. Flaxseed gel is another natural alternative
Omg, I maintain and start my own.. Only use oil water..
Beautiful!!!!!
I LOVE her locs!!!
Hi Yannie , please, Can I use oil on my loc for shine ? I use a little black castor oil and also spray my hair with rose water . Do you recommend castor oil or black Queen olive oil sheen or olive oil sheen-ORS for shine ?
She’s mentioned castor oil but everything you’re doing is what she recommends 💪🏾
I 🖤💛💚your videos.
This was amazing. I have a eczema breakout in the nape of my neck which I’m going to see a dermatologist for in a few days. I also have noticed build up in my locs for the 1st in my 3 year journey. Can I use dr. Bronner‘s Castile soap and dawn to get out the build up? Or do you recommend one over the other. After the wash to get the build up out should I be going back in with a conditioning shampoo & conditioner like design essentials? Can you also provide the best daily routine for locs with eczema on the scalp ? Thank you so much in advance.
I learned my lesson about gel the first time I tried to use it. My girl at the time used to glob gel in her whole head, and she could get it to look good. I didn't know gel make flakes real bad.
So, I put a little gel in my hair trying to get my wild hairs to lay down. They did, but when I went to brush my hair the next day... FLAKES!!!
I washed my hair, and still had flakes.
I had gel in my head until I finally cut my hair.
I been a natty ever since.
I got dreads now. I'm a natty dead.
will you ever consider coming to South Africa?...
Yanni you are amazing
Her hair is perfect!
Beautiful 😍
Love this video.
Do you recommend do styles or leaving your locs out?
Was some of this in the initial picture lint? That's my current issues in about 6 locs at the back/bottom
Nah this was 95% buildup.
Hello, I love your channel and it has helped me to decide to finally get locs. I wanted to ask, I have mid back length natural hair and wanted to know if I have to cut my hair to start locs?
You can start your locs without cutting your hair!
@@tiffg1624 Thank you
Mrs Yonnie I was wondering is it ok not to retwist my locs at all or at least once a year
yes, I do that, just wash and separate
What do you use for your detox ? Because I was going to use a clarifying shampoo , and then go in w| Apple cider vinegar & baking soda to do the complete detox .
What if you have build up when you don’t use products?
Idk what her answer will be but I know that some of us release a higher amount of sebum than normal from our scalps. So when that happens, it can sometimes show up as build up. I think for us we may just need to wash our hair a little more often.
Paul mitchell shampoo 3 clarifying shampoo or Tee tree shampoo n conditioner
Beautiful Results ❤
I wonder if you moved to a different house in Jersey yet. I’m still waiting for you to bless my crown 😌
I'm waiting patiently to let me hair have enough time before hopefully I can make an appointment 😃
My locks are 4x thinner 😥😥
I would love to make an appointment as soon as possible I'm in New Jersey
