Just ran across your channel. Really enjoy it. I own quite a few cowboy hats and travel around the southwest frequently. I've had them shaped/re-shaped many a time by the hat guys at different places. We appreciate y'all!
i have a question what style is it the crown is tall in the front slopes down in the back , use to see that style awhile back , thanks !! what style cowboy hat was that Billy Gibbons wore back in the early 70's i think it was , when they wore those Nudie suits ?
I have one somewhere, but I haven't seen it in years. I've thought about finding some kind of brass decoration where the insignia would go. If I had been in the military, I'd wear a brass military decoration, but I was never in the military.
Ok here goes. Now on this video the golf hat with the pencil curl brim and telescope crown . That center upward crease. How is that crease put in there? Thanks
I love the videos but I'm a team roper and I struggle with my cowboy hat getting in the way while I'm roping do you have any suggestions to help with that?
Fun video and informative! I am not a big fan of the cattleman crease but found a black Justin hat with it at an antique store in rough shape and am cleaning and shaping this $20 prize at home. What do you like to use for stiffener? I actually really like the huge brim and plan to go light on turning it up on the sides. Also I may change the crease a bit as it is pinched very narrow. You should talk about hat bands too as they can really help create a style.
Traditionally, shellac is used for stiffening hats. You can buy it as a liquid or you can buy it as a flake, dissolve it into isopropyl alcohol and apply.
Hey, I have a stetson skyline 6x black felt..my dad wore these all his life. I love them and my wife got me one, however I want to change the creases and possibly the crown any suggestions for a new stetson owner?
Hey brother I just found your channel and I’m Texas Cowboy. I’m interested in the history of the Tom Mix crown. I’ve worn it since the 70’s. I didn’t know if it was his style or a Hollywood trick. Thanks brother and good luck with that chemotherapy. It’s worse than being stepped on by a bucking horse or bull.
How does a Reiner crease differ from a Cattleman's crease? I like the cattleman's crease but the top crease seems to always hit the top of my head, preventing it from sitting low enough on my head. This doesn't happen with styles with a crown of 5 inches or more but somehow that high of a crown looks a bit funky to me. Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thinking about getting an American with a telescope real wide brim for the summer. I am about to spend a few weeks working in Florida working outside and I can't think of anything better
For much of the 1970's, I wore a flat brimmed black black hat with a telescope crown and a red, white, and blue hat band. I ended up being called Billy Jack a lot because of the hat in the tv show, but Billy Jack wore an pen crown hat with a blue and white hat band. Of course, in Florida, you will need a straw hat.
I have a question for you…🤠… In the movie, “ The Magnificent Seven “, Can you tell me, what hat and style was it, that Actor Steve McQueen wore ? I know the hat had a “ Red “ lining in it, but what was the fabric and style of his hat, do you know or where can I turn to, to find out ? Thank you for your answer ! 🤠👏👏👏👏
If you feel confident enough, you can do it by yourself. Personally I use a water spray, an iron with steam, my hands and sometimes a bowl. For basic crease (cattleman, telescope, gambler...) it's pretty good. The thing is, in my opinion, always start from the basic round crease to avoid deformation. So you have to crease the hat twice: round crease and then the crease you want.
Wow!? Really? I've had a couple different hats, cleaned and shaped, reshaped. At various stores. Not once have paid for it. Sheplers (now BootBarn), Cavenders, and BootBarn, in Texas and Florida.. and a mom,pop store.. I always expected to, but when i asked always same answer.. No Charge..
I appreciate the information in part one and two but the accompanying music in part 2 is very obtrusive. The volume has to be turned way down like it is in the first part.
I personally can ruin a straw hat in short order everytime. So no straw hat purchased in decades. Funny story! I walked into a local feed/ appearal store with one of my older work hats. So I asked the attendant if he could add a little stiffener to it. The answer I received was sure I can if you clean it first 😮. Looked him in the eyes, with the following statement. There's people paying hundreds of dollars to paint fake age for what this ol hat earned the last 20 plus years. To clean such a hat where I come is sacrilegious. N left! Mountain man
Last time i paid to have my hat shaped, i paid for a 17yo kid to smash it into a machine and screw it up. It was shaped previously at a ranch outside san antonio by a god ole boy who knew what he was doing. I screwed it up on a cattle drive event with the seminoles.
Hey brother great video. I and for sure many others have a problem with the video. THE MUSIC it's very annoying to the point of ridiculous what you have to say is so much more important and the music just takes away from it it and keeps you from being able to concentrate and focus on what you're teaching turn the music off everybody today on UA-cam wants to do a Hollywood production with music and all kinds of bullshit you don't need it man you and what you have to say are the most important things on the video you don't need that music
Very interesting video. FYI, turn off the background music. It is beyond me why UA-cam content creators play background music over their voice. We came to hear you, not to fight background noise. The background noise quickly becomes extremely annoying. Many folks have hearing difficulties, thus while concentrating on your voice they must also concentrate on tuning out the music; frustrating. Your background music ruins an otherwise exceptionally good presentation.
Great content! 86 the music while talking.👍
Sending prayers for the chemo! Thanks for great video
Thank you Chuck for being in business all these years thanks for all that you do 4 the local community
Round top no dimples reminds me of Native American pictures people and paintings you have great knowledge and I enjoy the video even if I’m super late
The hat that LBJ worn was also worn I think by BUFFORD T. JUSTICE ( SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT).
This hat shop is going on my to visit list when I finally got the USA trip.

I continued my hat education by watching part two...🤘🏼💯✔️
Hey from Banner Elk, NC! I’ll be sure to plan to drop by the next time I’m near you.
do a vid on that west texas punch!
Nice looking hat he has on. Good content. Thanks for the info.
I call that a Buford T. Justice hat.
Great videos. Hope you're well.
Harrison Ford is the Actors name from Indiana Jones Trilogy that Movie revived the Fedora and so did Michael Jackson's Dancing. Great Content!
Great video, super informative. I'm so glad people like you are keeping the culture alive, and passing it down. Thanks a lot for your work!
I love you videos brother,, keep it up🤠👍
Thanks for a great video. I haven’t worked straw yet. Looking forward to it.
Enjoyed it.
You should do a series on US Calvary shapes

Indiana Jones was played by Harrison Ford. ;-)
I knew it was Harrison Ford. Not sure why Indiana Jones cam out of my mouth. -The Photographer
Great job. Thanks for the wonderful information on different hat types. God bless and hang tough with the chemotherapy.
What defines the Canadian crease from the brick and bull rider creases?

Love your hat!! Definitely special
What would be a historically accurate crease cowboys wore in the mid to late 1800's?
I'm wanting to try a Homberg. I always wear a hat with the brim flat and slightly dipped in the front and back.
Was wondering if Clint Eastwoods hat in good bad ugly was a telescope crown?
Great video. What can i use to harden up my straw hat? Some say starch and such. Just wanted to ask the expert…thanks Joe
I've read lacquer and also read high hold hairspray. Haven't tried either so YMMV

what brand is the hat you are wearing. I really want to buy one like yours.
I need to know how to get it. Can you send to Uk ?

The Tom Mix crown is also my favorite. I have a Stetson straw that is very close to that crown. I love t.
Fun fact: Tom Mix was from northern Pennsylvania.
Could you explain what the x’s stand for on a straw hat?
Can anyone explain me the reason for cowboy hats being bent on the brims?
So what's a good hat for someone that sweets a whole hell of a lot?
They call you "Sugar", right?
Where is your store located?

Hi! It looks like a briggs crease to me, made with bicolore wool felt (or felt stained afterward) You can find replicas pretty easily on the Internet.
i wish it were 20 dollars for a hat reshaping..
i called a place that said 55 dollars and drop it off for a week!

what is a Ft Worth crown known as
Interesting “cowboy attire”.
Ben Johnson wears a hat that is what I am interested in. Can you comment.
So im from Michigan and there's no western stores. I want a cowboy hat and never owned one. Can u help me? I have a big face and head. Lol.
Harrison Ford played Indiana Jones. Turned out it was the name of the dog.
Where's the gambler's hat? Where's the Django hat?
