    For those wondering, it is the procedure on some airlines to leave the flaps down at 1+F when the temperature exceeds 30°C on the A320 & A330.

    I think this was when 10L at FLL was 'shortened' due to the rain flood they had, the pilot had more flap extended and lifted off early.

      Thanks my friend! Yeah, I don't fly Allegiant much, but it's been ages since I flew out of SGF. Despite it being one of my home airports. It's usually too expensive to fly out of there when compared to MCI or TUL. Maybe I need to get on an Allegiant flight out of there .

    To help me get more comfortable with flying, I've been watching these videos, which is helping (I think). Can anyone tell me what the drilling sounds and smoke heard/seen around minute 6 could have been?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  8 місяців тому +1

      First, many people have left comments before stating they have successfully used my videos to help them get more comfortable with flying, so you're on the right track! And second, don't hesitate to ask any questions that if answered will make you feel more comfortable about flying. I'm always happy to answer any questions. And I have answers for both of your questions here. The barking or drilling noise you hear here, is simply the aircraft's PTU or (power transfer unit). Aircraft have multiple independent hydraulic systems. These independent systems ensure that the plane can still be flown should one of them fail. However, when on the ground, and when only one engine is running, a power transfer uint is needed to help control power between the various systems. On Airbus aircraft that PTU is just really loud and obnoxious haha. That drilling sound is just the PTU doing its job. It is normal for it to be that loud and is often joked about because it sounds like someone drilling, or dogs barking. Once the second engine is running, the PTU no longer needs to be used, so the noises it makes disappear as well. The smoke you can see is just extra fuel being burned off as the engine spools up. You can actually hear the moment the combustion chamber really kicks in here at 6:35, which is when the smoke clears. Now, you won't get this on every single start up, and it's actually more common in cold climates, but it's effectively the same thing happening. Either way, both of these things are normal, and if you notice them on your flight, they are nothing to be worried about.

    Hey there! I just noticed Atodos's Flagship support in the description area! He's one of my favorites, too. He seems like a really nice guy, too. I'd recommend others to you, but YT doesn't like that. I can't even send them any links, because I've tried to do that, but when I try to copy and paste the links into the comments, my screen-reading software won't allow it. Bummer!

    Pushback with the flaps down is quite unusual

    • @sla31
      @sla31  8 місяців тому

      I thought so too. Although each airlines SOP is different and I don't fly Allegiant enough to know if this is their SOP or not. Breeze Airways used to do this when they first began operations.

    What’s your opinion on allegent air?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  8 місяців тому +1

      Not very high haha. But, I'll admit, that's mostly just because I don't like flying ULCC's. I'm at that point in my life when I prefer to pay slightly more for a better product. I will say, that Allegiant has never canceled a flight on me, and they've always gotten me from point A to B. Which is way more than I can say for a much newer entrant to the game... Breeze... Haha.

      Probably so. Although where at, I couldn't tell you. I don't keep notes detailed enough for that. Plus, I'm usually to busy watching a TV show on my phone to notice those when I'm filming haha.
