  • Hard to believe but this is the first video where I get to ride shotgun in the feature car. That car being the top grade Lucino VZ-R, powered by the SR16VE, and from what I hear, rival to the Honda Civic.

Good lord that's the gnarliest vtec switch over I've ever heard and it doesn't even have vtec.

It basically does have VTEC, except a two stage switchover at like 6000rpm and 7000rpm but the cam profile change at 7000 is the most obvious audible change.

So glad you got to ride in that car! I know the style of that car isn't "wasabi" per se, but the owner's enthusiasm (and yours) is what makes the car hobby (obsession) so damned great. Wonderful video, and as always; take care.

That's the same sort of model & colour of Pulsar sedan my cousin used to drive.
It was a 1996 model N14 Pulsar which wasn't anything special, it was only powered by a 1.6 litre automatic powertrain.
My cousin hated it so my auntie took it off him (she bought it for him) & sold it after he reversed out of the driveway on a sort of a slope with the door open.
The door dug into the front lawn & pushed the front drivers side door into the front quarter panel.
It actually pulled the front pillar that the hinges bolted onto out of alignment & stuffed the threads up that the hinges bolted onto.
I actually needed to pull the front pillar out with a slide hammer as it got pushed in,I had to tap the 8 millimetre threads out to 10 millimetre s & fit oversized bolts.
It was a nightmare finding rust free parts through a wrecker as most of the N14 Pulsars have rusted out now, he had to scour Australia for a door & a quarter panel.
They didn't supply me with hinges & the old ones had been pulled out of shape by the force so a fraction of a millimetre of play in the hinges caused something like 10 millimetres of misalignment of the door.
I was at my wits end about what to do so I scoured around the shed to see what I could find, I found some slightly harder 8 mm stainless steel rod so I welded up the holes where the old brass bushes were then drilled them out then made it so the stainless rod was almost a press fit into the holes.
I bought some 8 millimetre washers from Bunnings to space the inner & outer parts of the hinges to fill the gaps then I drove the pins in then spot welded either end.
I got the door gaps & alignment near perfect, the front quarter panel needed a bit of bending at the tabs so that the front headlight lined up perfectly.
Once the door closed perfectly, I left it alone as I looked at how it lined up with the old door rubber,it was 1 millimetre away from where the old door lined up - close enough !!!!
They had the car for a year before selling it & I saw the new owners drive it,the door was still snapping shut a year after they bought it !!!!
I haven't seen the car for a while so I'm not sure where it is.
I'm an electrical fitter/mechanic by trade but my skills include gardening, cooking, etc & I've done small automotive, welding & carpentry courses at tech.
No one has wanted me in the electrical trade & I'm not sure why a local company wants me to start working in their laboratory as I wasn't that bright at high school (academically average).
No one would've thought that I was smart enough for that role in 1996 after I left high school as it was as if I wasn't smart enough for the electrical trade !!!!

That was nice of him to share his car with you and your audience. Forgive my ignorance, but does a loud muffler appreciably increase performance? I love fast cars, but since I turn down my music when I stop at a light, I honestly can’t fathom why anyone would want to make their car LOUDER on purpose.

there are few of these around here, but they are rare too. i dig the wheels a lot for some reason. i'm starting to like 3 spoke wheels now since i saw the enkei EK84 that my uncle had in his familia turbo back in the 90's. also how nice you found a nice owner. it always feels nice when you find somebody eager to talk about their hobbies :)
question of the day: i'm very skilled fixing old electronics, but i think you know that already haha

I own a serie vzr in moody blue, so stoked to see a big channel notice the chassis, it always goes unnoticed! Few of your details were a bit off, particularly the brakes. The factory brakes are the same model caliper and same diameter disc as gtir, but different spacing. So effectively gtir but the way you daid it implied he had upgraded to gtir brakes. These cars are somewhat hard to find in aus, and in high demand but not impossible. I can almost list 10 off the top of my head.

Those body style are called Nissan Almera in the UK. They were very common and they all came with boring engines. In the US I think they were called a Nissan 200SX and came with a non turbo SR20.

In the US, the S-chassis is called the 240SX (with a 2.4L KA24DE), where it is called 200SX in EU (with 2.0L SR20DE/T). The US 200SX was a B14 as @Hobby mentions, with the SE-R trim getting a non-turbo SR20DE (other trims got the GA16)

Yes i have a black one sedan. The car in the vid is in a vary poor condition, sad. We have heaps of these in New Zealand except the N1 pulsar VZR only a few are found. I think most of the rare N1 VZR pulsar models are found in the UK. The base models (blue top sr16ve) are mainly found now in nz . They came in various options also with the Autech body kit both in four door and two door kit . The two door Lucino came in a vzr option but not as many made. 2.0L converions are also popular. You can buy the N1 VZR pulsar parts off ebay and various aftermarket online stores. So no need to go searching for a rare N1 pulsar vzr , just use the base model blue top as a starting point.

Skillz...Lovin' on people, does that count. I can also construct from words in the comments atomic love bombs that don't go off until the intended recipient reads the whole thing. Rapid connections with like minded people are a thing. I'm just beginning to work on a new skill...one related to money and how I perceive it.

didnt know people paint those war flags on cars in Japan also

    • @gerijokub7737
      @gerijokub7737 6 років тому

Technically, it's not a war flag. Yes, it was ADAPTED by the the imperial army during the invasion of Asia, but the meaning and the origins of that flag/symbol is quite different than its war-time intention. Also, afaik, there are no international sanctions or laws that would prohibit the use of that symbol and it's even used today as the naval ensign in JMSDF.

This engine is actually more powerful than B16 VTEC. Same 1.6L capacity but way more power. Neo VVL is no joke back then.
