- A dermatologist’s favorite options for dry and itchy skin! Regular unscented Vaseline, La Roche-Posay moisturizer, and Cerave itch relief are all great options to try for dry, itchy, irritated skin!

Dry skin may just be the problem, but most of the time there is an underlying condition that is causing the dryness. Like eczema causes dry skin, but eczema isn't just dry skin. If it were, most moisturizers would cure it, and it doesn't. I suffer from eczema in the ears, and use a product called Bee Magic, when nothing else worked. I've had some success with A&D Ointment with Zinc, which soothes the itching and burning, but so does Bee Magic. Don't touch your skin with unwashed hands, as the salt on your hands from sweat or food will aggravate it no end. Buy some cheap disposable gloves to apply ointments, and if you need to rub or scratch. Keep your hands spotless because you can get skin infections from them. The bacteria under the nails can make a terrible infection, even if your hands are clean.
You bring up good points and certainly there can be much more than meets the eye when it comes to dry skin. Lack of moisturization is by far the biggest reason, but things like eczema can be quite complicated! Barrier dysfunction, increased inflammatory bacteria, increased water loss through the skin! The base of preventing flares remains good moisturizer use though!

I had bad dandruff that caused the sides of my gmface nearest to the hair got irritated from scratching. It went dry and turned to a different color than the rest of my forehead. I just recently used petroleum i hope it heals

@@Mijail23 no, i didn't. I have been using Vaseline lotion since a while ago. I always use it at morning and night whenever my face or body get dry. It helped. But now sometimes, it doesn't help. I don't have another lotion or cream but only Vaseline lotion and I only use it.

vaseline and cerave are the best! i started using them back when i was very very young ( like REALLY young ) because i have always had dry sensitive skin. it doesn’t work for everybody, but it does for me :)
Eucalyptus spray is great for any skin problem , like ichiness or sores

Switch to gentle skincare, brands like Vanicream! I would start soaking and sealing aka moisturizing within 3-5 minutes after getting out of the shower. Keep things gentle and fragrance free.
I know it’s not a permanent solution but I swear by this I have found that weed helps , my skin stays relaxed and calmer for muuuch longer , at times I do feel some itch coming on not nearly as intense but I take a little hit of my pen or actual weed and my itching irritation goes from about a 8/9 to a 4 or 5 in some cases it just stopped. I definitely prepare though lotions , baby oil out of the shower is the game changer tho

I have eczema and a similar sort of thing appeared on my scalp and I’ve now had it for years. It’s so difficult to get a decent treatment for it :(. I had a shampoo and it was absolutely perfect but it has issues in production so I haven’t been able to access it for over 2 years now.

Hello. I only have problems while outside (walking,running or any form of exercise) that’s why I don’t really go out cause I can’t risk it, I don’t know why. cause my skin is always hydrated I can’t go a day without applying crème. I’ve seen doctors Buh they basically prescribed me the same crème (glycérol), at first it works Buh then the itching came back. I sometimes go to the pharmacy to get counseled Buh they prescribed me with la roche posay, Bioderma and so on Buh no results It’s been almost 7years ever since I arrived in France, i never had something like this back home in Nigeria I do have a fine skin no bumps, rashes nor any kind,I think the itching comes from the inside like an allergy or something idk. I would really love to get rid of this cause I do miss a lot my mate go out for activities (fun)while I just have to sit home it’s really disturbing.

That’s touching, mine started recently so I came here to seek solution. My body begins to itch when I go out, once I’m back home in the AC it stops. This only started recently and I just can’t trace why and yes I also don’t have any visible skin condition
I’ve honestly found that weed calms my skin and itching. I’ve had the same symptoms, anytime I try to do a physical activity I’ll smoke a little weed before and my skin doesn’t freak out . After some time I’ll start to feel the itch come back but no where’ NEAAAARLY as bad .

The most common reason for itch is dry skin! So maybe? I personally like Sarna sensitive for itch!

Yep its one of the best treatments for rehabbing a damaged skin barrier! Otherwise cerave moisturizing cream is a good option!

Bro try buy ibuprofen pills(Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) and take it after meal two times a day and do not eat while empty stomah, moisturize regularly and never used topical steroid as it will come back immediately after u stop using.. I hope this’ll help
And also if u can, try take Vitamind D,E and Zinc cause it helps in immune system and the best supplement by far is fish oil omega-3 fatty acid, but dont take fish oil while taking ibuprofen as it can makes ulcer and all

Good gentle skincare is always key! Also if its only in the summer months, make sure you are protecting with SPF!

I do skincare and I also apply sunscreen but it itches then also, I started applying ice on alternate day, let's see if it helps in long way

I had a bad itch from spraying perfume at the back of my neck. It was a new fragrance. I usually spray pulse points and never had this happening before. Would applying a good of vaseline jelly amount all over the neck and then spraying perfume prevent the likelihood of skin irritation again. Please advise ? :)

None of those worked. Not all itchy skin is caused by dryness.
Totally true lots of reasons for itching! The majority of the time it’s dry skin though. Of course if you are having itching you should be evaluated by a dermatologist if you are having chronic itch especially if not responding to good moisturizer use!
Randomly woke up with a rash (eczema looking) all over my eyes and face, mainly eye area but the rest of my face is still very dry and flaky. It was a little inflamed but calmed down its just extremely dry and itchy now. Its been two days...not gone. any tips on how to get rid of it and ideas on what this maybe?
