    Musselman sought the Arkansas job. It is now common knowledge he had wanted to leave Arkansas the last two years. The way the team played this year, beating Purdue in pre season along with Duke in Fayetteville, then losing in Fayetteville to UNC-Greensboro and ultimately having a losing 16-17 record showed a bad problem with his team. He was ready to go, I have heard he wanted to go since 2021. Just looking for a west coast landing spot. Calipari will bring talent into the program that Musselman could never muster. Musselman couldn't get big men to the degree necessary to win big in the NCAA Tournament. Will Calipari get back the fire in his belly of old? That is the big question. He does know how to win big. I remember Calipari at UMass beating a powerhouse Richardson Razorback team up there to start a basketball season one year.

      I promise you all this. In 3 years you guys will be overloaded with talent, have tremendous expectations, and hype. He will lose to teams he shouldn’t every year, he won’t win the SEC. Forget him caring about the SEC Tournament because he doesn’t care 1 bit about it. Be prepared to be a favorite in a ton of games you will lose along with some that are inexcusable. You also better hope no team plays a zone against you. He has no clue how to beat one. If he keeps relying on freshman you will have at least 10 losses a year. Don’t say us UK fans didn’t warn you. You will absolutely love him and his classes until he proves he underachieves year after year with them.

    I like Cal, but his approach wasn't working the last five years. Hopefully, he will change things so he can end his coaching career successfully. That means he needs to mix in some older guys. Maybe he won't be able to get 6-7 five stars every year in Arkansas and only gets 3-4, so he is forced to have more older players to stabilize his program. That would make him a better coach again.

  • @tw9535

    Having a chip on your shoulder doesn't magically turn someone into a good bench coach.
    The guy just doesn't prepare or bench coach.
    That isn't changing.

    I’m not wishing this on Cal, but wouldn’t it be weird if Arkansas had a 25-8 record, went to the NCAA tournament….then gets beat by Georgia Southern in the first round ? He has a Chip on his shoulder ??? Because Kentucky made him a multimillionaire? Rejuvenated YES, but a Chip ? Sorry, don’t see that.

Absolutely no title without him either, as well as Jones who stayed because of the looming NBA lockout, again, NUMEROUS special circumstances that all came together for him. It was actually his perfect storm, the other 14 years have CRYSTAL clearly illustrated how abysmal his coaching is, especially 2015. He couldn't win with two NBA lineups on same team. Wrap.

    So Cal is going to do what he did the first six years at UK, before he went full NBA development agent with no coaching? He shifted from about 60/40 coaching and NBA dev mix to 5/95. 5% coaching is not good.

      @MGnKntkY 6 місяців тому +2

      No, he's not going to do what he did his first years at Kentucky. He was on fire going into that job already. The game is completely different than it was in 2009 and when he won that championship. He's a stubborn old man now who won't change for anything. That's exactly why most of the BBN is happy to see him go.

    • @donkeyssuck

      I'll have to agree with you ...bbn wants a winning program. We love star power players ....but...if you're focused on being a farm team for the NBA the fans of college sports and bbn are left short on the joy of what has been the best part of college basketball - winning your conference and going deep into the tournament.
      Arkansas experience will mirror his Kentucky tenure but I wonder if the Walmart/Tyson goodie bag will expose the grotesque side of NIL.

    John Calipari is still going to do everything his way and never change. That's what got him where he is now, a loser that has 1 win in the tournament in 4 years. Hasn't won the SEC or won the SEC tournament since 2018. He's going to disappoint that whole fan base just like he has the BBN. I'm surprised Hogs fans are talking themselves into this being a good thing. You'll never win a championship as long as he is there.

      @mgers75 6 місяців тому +1

      @@larrytucker222 That was a good team...not a dominant team. They were going to be a 2 or 3 seed depending on how the SECT tourny went. That team had one great shooter and one great but super raw scorer and they were easy to guard cause the EJ Montgomery, Nick Richards, and Ashton Hagans couldnt shoot at all and they had absolutely zero spacing or ball movement. It was hope Quickley can get some shots off and Watch Maxey drive into double teams cause opposing coaches just completely let 3 of UKs player unguarded. If that team wouldve had a Reed Sheppard type and good stretch 4 to balance things out they wouldve been absolutely lethal but it wasnt meant to be.
