    I must admit it did grind my gears a little hearing about how one person alone was given all these opportunities and not being spread out between more people, but after hearing your enthusiasm for giving back to the community you have thoroughly changed my mind. You worked extremely hard and your heart is clearly in the right place. This is an excellent video both the editing and videography, you could really go far in this space. I look forward to hearing about your bright future Sir

    Hi George, what a journey you've had so far and a great video. During these extraordinary times I've dusted down and spruced up my flight sim (xPlane) - I'd forgotten how useful that can be for keeping fresh with procedures etc and perhaps another relatively cheap option to get going with flying skills. I fly out of Lee and hopefully we'll be back in the air very soon. Well done.

    I love this video! I’ve had a interest for aviation since I was little and have taken part in uncountable activities and courses etc. but since about a year I’ve been giving up on things and putting myself down by only looking at negative things regarding my dreams and completely blanking the fact that there are many organisations that are willing to help and guide people like me. Watching a couple of videos and just researching helped me realise again how much I love aviation and that I need to pick up where I left off and slowly I’ll get there ✈️ :)

    • @Coepilot
      @Coepilot  Рік тому

      The good news is, you’ve got plenty of time so no rush to get straight to commercial straight away.
      1) Research and apply for any scholarships/bursaries/cadet ships you are eligible for
      2) Regardless of no. 1, think about a ground based career (which could be in aviation) which will be a good Plan B if anything should happen to your medical etc down the line - hopefully it won’t - but it can also be a starting place to get an income and get saving to help self fund some/all of your training
      3) Fly in the most cost effective way possible. Ie. Gliding/micro lights first, then LAPL -> PPL -> IR(R) -> Night Rating & Hour Building (including IFR time) -> CBIR -> CPL -> UPRT & MCC-JOC or APS. This way you can save thousands, and also complete training at the pace of your budget, in chunks or segments at a time. It will also give you excellent exposure to different types of aircraft, airfields, airspace etc.
      Hope that helps & good luck! ✈️

    • @Coepilot

      Hi Florian, depending on which country/nation you gain your licence will depend on which other nations’ aircraft you can fly.
      With a UK issued licence, you can’t directly fly an aircraft registered to Dubai (you could fly a UK registered aircraft in Dubai) but you could easily gain permission/licensing from other states worldwide to fly their aircraft - usually it’s just a paperwork exercise.

      Thanks for watching! I’m glad the video is inspiring to you 😃 The main thing is to get across how you’re following your dream and passion ie. plane spotting, flight sims, cadets, volunteering, work experience etc. Also get across transferable skills that you have acquired so far ie. team work, initiative, calm under pressure etc. Link all these points and give reasons to how/why they’re relevant to aviation/flying. There’s lots more tips on the ‘Future Coepilot’ section of my website - www.coepilot.uk You can also contact me directly using the form. Best of luck and hope that’s useful? 🤞✈️

    You saying about career shows as a youngster, I went to loads, I wanted to be a pilot ever since I started in the ATC, going to these 'career' fairs and being told by the RAF (as lets face it they are the only ones offering back then (1995)) that I couldn't do sums quick enough that I wouldn't make a good pilot, (says the overweight put out to pasture recruitment officer!!!) So that stopped me, I always thought from then on I would be no good.
    But something clicked in me last year and I really want to get back in the sky! But seeing the eye watering prices is putting me off now... Your tips have helped and I will see what I can do but who's going to want to employ a pilot in their mid forties when guys like you are chomping at the bit??

    • @Coepilot
      @Coepilot  2 роки тому +2

      Go for it… If you started flying commercially at 50, that still gives you up to 15 years commercial flying and then however many years private flying/instructing/examining (if you wished to) for as long as you can hold a medical! I’ve known airline pilots start in their 40s, it’s more common than you think.
      Don’t forget there’s lots more to flying than just commercial airlines too; there’s plenty of avenues to explore. If you’ve got the passion for it, one way or another you’ll do it and I bet you won’t look back!
