Excellent video! Thank you for sharing this. I would like to add that when I was learning to work on guitar electronics that an old retired military electrician advised to never use the electric connector spray on anything that is delicate. He said that the spray will even dissolve plastic over time. He always used Deoxit spray. It is pricey but has always worked wonders for potentiometers. Just thought I would share. Thanks again for the video!

Thanks for the time to create this, I had an idea of what to do but a video like this is good to confirm. Living in a humid environments down in the tropics will defiantly of done some damage to my card.

Good info, you really thoroughly covered every angle here - so much so that I profess to skimming the video as half an hour is a long watch! But for anyone doing this, it's exactly what they need. I think the only thing you didn't include or reference was the fan noise? That's also very important - if you have an overly noisy card it makes doing this very worthwhile as well.

Thanks, I know 34 min is pretty long, but you have given me the idea to add some timestamps in the description. Agree with you on the fan noise, fans do have to work harder the hotter a card gets.

Great video. Clear, on topic and detailed. I would suggest you add some idiot warnings for people that would do things out of order or try to apply this knowledge to Motherboards or power supplies. Just a warning about fans and the voltage they induce if they are spun by an air compressor, capacitors holding charges, and bios batteries ( motherboard). I know it adds a little overhead but idiots need overhead ! For my level of experience.. BRAVO !

Damn.....This video is very well explained wrt all the important areas of a gfx card that need tlc.
    Thank you.
I always have issues when removing the thin fan and led power cables that plug into the pcb.
It takes some pretty heavy pulling to get that the thing out of the socket.
How do you manage that without the scare of the wire breaking?
Also if the old thermal pads are worn down and removed without reapplying a fresh layer, will it cause any damage....other than higher running temps on those components?

    • @ElevatedSystems
      @ElevatedSystems  4 роки тому

It helps to have long-ish fingernails so you can wedge them between the cable end and connector and pry it off. If you are going through the trouble to tear apart the card it is always best to replace your thermal pads considering it will cost you less then $10. Especially considering the main components they are used on is the VRAM and overheating VRAM is no good.

      @@ElevatedSystems Thank you for replying.
I broke off a finger nail trying to remove that damn cable....it was pushed very firmly in place.
Next time I will have to use maybe something like a credit card to wedge in to pry it open.
Any idea what thickness of thermal pad is to be used?
I have a Zotac gtx 1070ti mini and the Zotac cs rep said that I can use either 1 or 1.5 mm......anyone will do.
A few posts on some forums said to use 2mm.
That's a wide band to select from.
I would appreciate your help in this matter.
      Thanks.

100mhz overclock CAN result in 3-5 more FPS!
WOW amazing how overclocking REALLY EXTREME BOOST your graficcards way over any human explored limits and runs every gamme 300-3000% faster!
o wait, overclocking does´nt work anymore since 10 years, all you can possible achive is 12 or 15 fps more for ruining your hardware much quicker then normal!
The old and hopeless outdatet lie about overclocking still exists and lifes on and on and on,because marketing is the most powerfullest things on earth and when a graficcard is not overclocked you can only sell it for low cost, but when its overclocked you simply can add 300-1000$ more on it and booots the cards with tons and tons of amazing marketing phrases over the limit for ONLY ~15 FPS MOREand much shorter lifecycle of your hardware !
