Yay! More old buildings that are being heavily renovated are modernizing or replacing their old, efficient elevator system with something more efficient! *(JK, I am going to miss these elevators a lot! Why don't building owners keep the existing elevator system or just upgrade the system to be compliant with today's safety code?)*
What in the HELL is happening to America's historic building charm disappearing? All of these elevators that are 60 years or older are now disappearing, and being replaced with new technology that I sadly know will not be as good as the originals. RIP old Otis Autotronic (1954-2019). After 65 years of exceptionally great quality and service, they will now be missed.
Completely agreed. Very well said.... And yes, this is totally what we do best in America.... First the Macy's/Kauffman's in Pittsburgh, and now this....
As much as I hate mods, let's give this a chance. I can't imagine the renovation of an old, art deco bldg. wouldn't include keeping a lot of the existing elements. The mod sucks to us who like old elevators... BUT the fact the bldg. is being saved & repurposed is wonderful! By comparison, the 29 story Sterick Bldg. in Memphis has been boarded up since 1984. 35 years later Loews is turning it into a hotel. Another that comes to mind is the Hall of Justice in Los Angeles... closed 1994-2015. L A County restored and reopened the gorgeous bldg. So let's see how Starks turns out first. We'll miss the old elevators but the mod might be tasty... who knows?
I guess you have a good point, although I was told EVERYTHING in the building is being replaced and the building was being totally gutted when this was taken....
@@jacksonslaterelevatorraila6444 Both me and Andrew have tried contacting them for parts and we haven't gotten a reply. You'd just have to go in the back door like I did and ask.
I'm going to try if Andrew doesn't get a reply from the manager soon. I told him about this and he messaged the real estate company that owns the place now.
Try going in the backdoor through the alleyway like I did to access the building, and ask if you can ride them or see them. That's what i did, and you may be able to ride if they aren't doing any asbestos work like they were at this time, but idk....
And yeah, I know this is incredibly sad... There are some other vintage elevators in Louisville, but these were the only ones with Original Touch Buttons from Otis....
WHAT!!
THE!!
HELL!!
SERIOUSLY??
A very very very very giant mega RIP.

Because these are pushing 50 and are at the end of their service lives. It’s not like they have any kind of hate for y’all or anything
I love watching your videos about the elevators
Thank you!!! :)

they are committing elevator destruction.
At least the uk are keeping some elevators listed
Any updates on this
So I was just in Louisville back in February 2021 and I passed by this building. It’s completely boarded up and shut down still.
Hopefully you can get some parts!
I hope that KONE doesn’t replace these...

they should keep the same number of elevators.
Are the elevators still running?
Only the ones shown the inside of in this video were. The rest were all turned off.
I was about to film at the Starks Building when I went in March until finding out that place is closed on the weekends!
Did the building have the signs posted on it saying it was shut at the time?
Is it being modernized by Schindler?
I don't know....I wasn't told who is doing it...
Floridian Elevators Hopefully not KONE.
That’s sad these elevators are (soon to be) modded but I wonder who will Modernize these but it better be tasteful because I hate mods that are yucky!
These aren't modded yet, but will be in the next couple years probably.
This year in next five months I aim to go to Louisville if I wanted a ride on the freighter what would I need to do have Andrew contact them ?

Is anyone going to try to get parts from these amazing elevators?

I agree.
How sad. 😢
Julian Andrew Diesel Ducy has filmed here

@@LiftEnthusiast2020OFFTOPIC Where at?
I am so sick of everything these are best lifts ever built and they are getting modded by Schindler
How do you know Schindler is modding these?
Also, do you know if the mod has started yet?
Floridian Elevators idk I thought I saw a Schindler 3300 capacitive call button. But I’m not sure.
When/where did you see it?
Floridian Elevators 0:32 I think that’s a new call station or it might just be the old one covered in paper.
:(

I have no clue
