The implicit conceit that it's fine because it's not like any real people are living there, just Chocobos... who are apparently capable of doing jobs... really isn't helping the game's image problems.
It does look cute though. I like the little 恵の雨 pop-up.

This sounds an awful lot like MULE with chocobos. That's not a bad thing if it's done well, mind, since MULE is a timeless classic.
