Consider adding a single long curved pole (or two in an X fashion) that pushes the back out like a half dome, then tie it (poncho) off with one central loop on back. You could sew Velcro or loop points inside for the flexible pole to go through. Each end of the pole would have to sit in a grommet to keep it flexed/arched. This will give you a half dome shelter and more space.
Do you think it's possible to make a teepee type tent by buttoning 3 ponchos together? I've always thought these ponchos had a shelter element like the Polish lavvu.
Dual use gear, Love it!

Great idea, thanks!

Absolutely could be done. There would not be much headroom but, there would be ample space inside for 2 people and gear. Thanks so much for watching!
