Bold of you to assume the brexit is done in 4 months.
Haha yeah, maybe let’s re-explore this one in 4 decades, who knows!
@@EconomicsExplained My guess as to why it's taking so long is that the PM's simply don't want to engage in brexit.
It's definitely a bad decision, and the House of Commons (and probably Lords too) were something like 3/4s in favour of remaining in the EU including Theresa May, so the politicians in areas that voted the majority to leave have to toe the line between what they want and representing the public.
By kicking the can down the road long enough, eventually the public will get a second referendum or parliament who have a majority to remain in the EU and thus avoid the constitutional crisis it has brought about.
As much as it's incredibly annoying to hear about it all the time, the alternative is considerably worse should the UK actually try and leave the EU. By just waiting out the current extremist reactionaries to die down, a remain result becomes more probable.
And I think even the EU would be okay with that, admittedly under protest. It's already sent strong messages to other parties in EU countries that had a leave platform to suddenly change their minds.
By revealing how costly and frankly dangerous leaving the EU is to the Eurosceptics it silences their support a little.
That's not to say people who vote to remain in the EU like it, but reforming the EU from within is far more powerful than just abandoning the project as a whole.
Nor is this to say the EU doesn't have it's issues in it's own right, in terms of representation, funding and other issues it still has a long way to go. But leaving the whole thing is clearly not the answer.
@@Madhattersinjeans So what you're saying is that you want to overturn the democratically chosen idea because you dont think it's a good idea?
@Kaiser Wilhelm II It's the other way around no? We can't get out because the way to leave is no deal, but everyone accepts the danger that poses. Parliament don't want a deal. Remainers don't want a deal. Brexiteers don't really want a deal.
Now we have a situation where Brexiteers are literally doing everything they can to force us out. The bullying is coming from the hard right, in words and deeds.
@@Madhattersinjeans I agree with what you said about not leaving the EU. However, I might be mistaken here and if I am, please help me understand, but didn't the United Kingdom lose their chance to stay in the EU about nearly a year ago. The EU gave them the ultimatum to stay, but they didn't even consider it. Now, I don't see how they could possibly stay even if they wanted to.
Ah yes, the ancient french tradition of rioting
But like actually though! I am so sad that you are the first person to have picked up on this XD

@@EconomicsExplained To that both me and the economist says, "Job Well Done." Good luck with future videos. I really enjoy your channel.
@@alinasikaiman9734 I still don't understand the difference between Nominal GDP and PPP.
@@alchemist6819 in a developing country people earn less, but the cost of living is also less, so to be able to compare the financial situations of people across the globe you have to use PPP.
For example:
In the US a worker earns on average 40k USD and an apple costs 10 USD to buy. You could buy 4k apples with an income of one year.
In Germany the average worker may earn 20k€ a year and an apple costs 1€ so you could buy 20k apples with your income of one year.
Therefore in Germany the same amount of money gets you more stuff which is a better indicator of standard of living than just GDP or GDP/capita

@@pathfinder6997 you can get completely free education in Germany or Denmark, even as a foreign student. To compare Spain to Mexico is like comparing apples with oranges. Spain has a GDP per capita of $33,359 and Mexico has a GDP per capita of £9,673. Spain is a developed nation whilst Mexico is a developing nation. Making fun of the U.K. like he just did is a bit rich tbh. Australia became wealthy by selling their naturals resources to the Chinese, things are not going great in that front, let’s see what’s going to happen in the next few years with their economy! Good luck Australia!
Another Chinese hater instead of CCP hater. Every country that got rich got rich by selling someone something. If Australia became rich selling to the Chinese, the Chinese became rich selling to the United States. Do you use an iPhone or Android phone? Either way, it's most likely made in China. I am not entirely sure if you are racist or that you are just jealous.
I thought, that EU have bigger GDP than US, even without UK
Can we even count EU as 1 HUGE economy?
No to both.
USA's is still bigger
The USA still has the highest GDP at $20.54 trillion in 2018. However, EU is second at roughly $18.8 trillion, with China in third with $13.61 trillion
Yes the EU, including UK, was actually the single largest economy in the world. For example in 2017 they accounted for 18,5% of world economy, compared to China (16,4%) and US (16,3%) according to ICP.
However, if you exclude the UK (2,5%) they drop just below the others, and since UK is leaving I'm guessing that is more common in general calculations
I don't think they're as closely integrated as US States are to be considered an economic monolith.
I think you would be surprised if you were having a look at the danish economy, in addition to Lego the world leader in shipping, wind energy and jewelry as well as a strong pharma industry and one of the biggest green electricity operator and one of the biggest brewery. Maybe even worth a video ;)
I came here looking for a video about Denmark. Looks like he's still not gotten to it yet.
Pakistan " Home of biggest black market"....😂😂
I may have 7 sheep grazing in the back yard but unlike Australians I don't go out on dates with them :)
My god, this video was perfect in every way.
Your link to the Australia video is the link to the Norway video
So in 11 months India went from 7th position to 5th 🤯
They're taking their place among the biggest economies in the world.
