    I don't know if you answer questions about older videos, but here goes.
    I have had no trouble in the past loading new line onto my trimmer. Yesterday, however, the line just kept feeding out, continously, creating a whirling line of death that left me with a cut leg. What position does the black doohickey (the technical term) need to be in when I push the spool back into position? I don't think I've lost or broken a piece of it. It doesn't have a spring, correct? Any insight you can give will be appreciated both by myself and my legs. Thanks.

    • @WorkMateGuy
      @WorkMateGuy  5 років тому

      John Steward It sounds like to me that you did not have the spool completely seated in the receiving part of the head. It should snap into place and when you try to twist it, there is just very little play, if you can turn it more then a few degrees it is not seated correctly. Also, make sure that you have the correct side facing you when it's seated. If you see the jagged notches you have it in backwards. I hope this helps.

      There's a little plastic rocker arm (or whatever you call it) underneath the spool. I found a video where it fell out allowing the spool to spin. He found the piece in his grass, re-installed it, and it worked. ua-cam.com/video/Ohj_2C2GW7E/v-deo.html

      @@WorkMateGuy Same problem. I've owned this for 2 years and haven't needed to restring until now. Has worked great. But for the life of me, can't separate the spool from the orange cap. Tried tapping it and wiggling it. It just seems locked into place. It has wiggle room but won't come out. I may need to buy a whole new cap and spool unit, which seems silly. I do it just like that, and it refuses to automatically feed, I am constantly having to take the spool off and manually unwind the line, then reassemble. Line is tight and smooth on the spool, it just wears away till there is no line sticking out. I have tried OEM line, braided line, twisted line, two layer line that is supposed to feed better, and both larger and smaller diameter than the recommended .080" (2mm) line. Nothing has made any difference. I can also see no damage to the notches on the spool or damage to the pall, which moves smoothly. Might a little spray silicone lube on the pall or notches help?

    • @WorkMateGuy
      @WorkMateGuy  4 роки тому +1

      Sounds like you are winding it correctly. Getting the spool seated in the housing is another issue. Once you have pressed it into the housing there should be a little play a few degrees in either direction. This indicated that the mechanisms are in alignment. Sometimes I have to reseat a few times to get it right. Let me know how it goes.

      It can be tricky but watch the video again and you will see that you can make it click into place with some wiggling. Also, feed the line thru the hole as you go to snap it into place.

    My line won't feed out. Any suggestions?

    • @WorkMateGuy
      @WorkMateGuy  6 років тому

      brown roc Good question. There are several possible causes. Make sure the line is wrapped correctly around the spool, the entire assembly is clean, and the spool is snapped into place and has some play in it. Let me know if any of these suggestions work for you.

      Like a A/C repairman tool me long ago... gently tap tap tap all the way around to loosen just about anything... and be patient.

      @@WorkMateGuy Thanks for your reply. I managed to get the spool out, wound some new string on it, and re-install it. But now how do I get the unit to feed new line during operation?

      Hey Carl, sometimes they seem to get stuck. In this case twist it back and forth a number of times until it releases. Cheers!

    Would SOMEone please tell me that I wasn't the only guy who thought that the arrows stamped in the spool meant that I should wind the SPOOL in that direction, instead of the line?!?

      I may be another one. I've had nothing but problems with mine, maybe I've been winding it backwards the whole time.

    And what I mean by won't feed, it just breaks off, without feeding more line when I'm weed eating.

      brown roc Is this happening with the standard line that came with your trimmer or is this 3rd party line?

    • @brownroc8388
      @brownroc8388 6 років тому

      WorkMateGuy It is 3rd party line, but it's the suggested size. I also bought some that was thicker, in hopes it wouldn't break as much. To no avail. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    Use thicker nylunuim ala mylpn or any plastics worh metal particles in it so as not to do line welding aka stock an bind but also use serrated or else twosted lien for the ease of use when other liens always are garbage ot feels lile osemtiems in the most offen tasks of the ,ere cuttinng of brush an brush an scrub clearing form the site or yards an trimming ferns etc or oregon grape etc also use the 0.095" line so as to be thick enough to not break off so easily against most colmon woody liek steems of the average plants

    For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself.Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.
