Nice one. There is an easier way. Go to data tab on the ribbon. Click text to column button, then next, next and finish
the "text to columns" tool only takes out little error checking in top left corner of cell
After this if you use formula like sum it would not be any problem
But you get error when using lookup formula like "vlookup"

tried this, it didn't work for me and my paste special isn't working
What about Control Shift Arrow Down, and as mentioned before, click on the yellow triangle to convert text to number.

if I understand you correctly you say select all cells and then click on top left corner and select "ignore error"
I must tell you that only remove green triangle but your data will remain as texts in eyes of excel

I want opposite of this method number as text. using formula ....
use Text Function and type "0" as text format
for example if your data stores as number in A1 you should wright this:
=TEXT(A1,"0")

if you mean " Ignore error" , that just only remove green triangle in top left corner
