I picked up my Pat Martino from fedex today and it is fantastic! Nice and light, it feels great to play. Unbelievable that I have a guitar that Pat designed and setup exactly like Pat’s! I feel so lucky to have watched him play live at the Iridium, and spoke with him a few minutes between sets. I’ll never forget!
I’ve had my Benedetto Pat Martino model for almost a year now and love it so much. It sounds great on gigs and in the studio absolute beauty. Enjoy your Benedetto!!
As nice a man as he was a brilliant guitarist. Went over to him after a set at Jazz Standard 2016. Just hung at the bar- and talked gear and music for quite some time. So generous of him. Memorized so many of his solos. Ty for uploading.
lovely, relaxed minutes with pat.. beautiful background of awesome guitars.. I started transcribing pat in 1970.. so every minute with him is cherished, thank you.. 🎸😎
I miss him. Was fortunate enough to see him live in a jazzclub, sitting second row. He played that montgomery cd he made. He started out playing complete wes solos and than doing his own thing, one of the greats!
What a gorgeous soft gentle sound .. sorta dark & subtle .. hafta say just quietly how frail he sounded & I know there weren’t many more public appearances left in him .. dang, he reminds me of my departed Dad .. can’t quite put my finger on it .. well, rest easy now Pat .. hero 2 so many of us.
I have one of these guitars, and it is amazing. Mr. Martino’s string gauge is a little thick for me, and I was a little worried about putting my gauge on it and having to mess with the entire setup. But nope, even the intonation remained perfect, and I do mean perfect. The tone, sustain and clarity in these guitars are in a league of their own!
THE NAME-PAT MARTINO- WHEN THOUGHT OR SPOKEN ,CONJURES NOT ONLY A GUITAR PLAYER BUT ALSO A SONIC DEDICATION THAT IS NOT ONLY UNIQUE ,BUT ALSO TRANSCENDENT. THANKS TO -BENEDETTO GUITARS- FOR THE VIDEO AND ALSO BEAUTIFUL GUITARS HAPPY 50TH.ANNIVERSARY I HOPE YOU HAVE MANY MORE. THAT SECOND TUNE REALLY PULLED THE TEARS RIP PAT MARTINO.
Thanks to @Howard Paul for a wonderful tour of the Benedetto Guitar workshop over this past 2018 Christmas/New Year break! My family and I have a new found interest in jazz and the beautiful Benedetto guitar luthiers and the masterpieces they create. Oh, and Howard, thanks for the wonderful opportunity to watch you and your quartet at Good Times Jazz Bar & Restaurant! The musical conversation was the highlight of our vacation in Savannah!
What? 15 on the high E! OMG! Now I understand where some of that thick tone comes from. Those necks must be super rigid to take that kind of tension without bowing.
Don't forget that in Pat's style of Jazz, String bending isn't really very common. So he can play with strings that heavy and get that tone as he wasn't ever doing SRV style bends and vibrato.
I’d love to know what that second tune was - really beautiful. Thanks for putting this interview together. I also agree with another commenter that in the future it would be nice to have the artist miced - with the volume difference between the interviewer and Pat it is hard to hear what he is saying sometimes, although it might just be my ears.
We're not sure of which tunes he was playing. The songs he played here were either recent originals or improvised. Sorry about the low audio output... this was originally Facebook a live stream video recorded with a cell phone.
I sorta have your answer, it's a song he composed himself. I recognized it from this video where near the end he explains the creation of it. He's so cool ua-cam.com/video/RNzUlUN3vNg/v-deo.html
For those who love Pat and his music, please be aware Pat is having serious health issue's and please check his web page ; www.patmartino.com/ and he can use our help. Shall we do our best for a Jazz legend together?
This was a live feed done for Facebook. We didn't expect Pat to be able to make it by the shop during his visit to Savannah for our 50th Anniversary Concert in conjunction with the Savannah Music Festival, so this was done "on the fly."
The world truly lost a musical giant. Hopefully wherever his soul ended up, his music thrives. We have the recordings and memories.
Great to see this 4 days after his unfortunate passing. RIP to one of the absolute greatest guitarists ever.
What??? ...i didn't know...
@@EVEROSFP1 He died on November 1st at age 77 from chronic respiratory difficulties.

The second tune is called “Inside” & originally appeared on the Creative Force VHS as part of his performance of “Both Sides Now” by Joni Mitchell.
Thanks!

At the end “Would you mind playing one more?”
Pat: Uhhh, I would rather not.

Saying no is a quality
Pat is so real for that lol😂

Does anyone know the name of the second song he plays? Like 11:40 ish?
I was at Pat's gig in London a few weeks ago. He is amazing and the drummers solos were great.

Rest in swing Pat ✨

Pat's awesome!
I enjoyed this!
Maestro.
Just super! Pat sounds fantastic, even on webcast. I love him saying, “...what can I say, it’s my favourite toy.” What amp was Pat playing through?
He was playing through a Benedetto Carino amplifier.
El hombre!
WISH THEY HAD MIC'D PAT UP.
Great interview guys. Is it possible for the artist to have a mic the next time? Thank you so much.
I’m a big fan! I’ll never forget the Sonny Stitt record that pat played on back in the 60s!
Great advice! This was originally a Facebook live stream filmed on a cell phone... we'll have to up our tech game next time!
I heard Pat just fine. He speaks softly. Could turn up your hearing aid.
Great Talent
Since I have your attention, is one side of the bout from centerline on a Cremona guitar slightly larger than the other? By 1/8” maybe?
Our guitars are all symmetrical except for the cutaway on the lower bout. If the cutaway weren’t there, the line would continue on to be symmetrical.
Benedetto Guitars thank you for that. I think I got ahold of a bad sides mold off eBay.
Anybody know the names of the two solo pieces Pat played in this video?
First piece is Think Tank.
Yes, I thought it was.

At least the pain is over.
@@JohnDoe-gk7ok Your window is closed to attend concerts or met the man, now. Chances are you never even knew of his health condition until now.
@@jazzdorefree194 I knew about his health for a long time and anticipated his death. Why are you being such an asshole?
Wow what is the sunburst to the left of Pats head? 16B
That's our Bravo Elite model. There are some great videos of Chico Pinheiro playing his: ua-cam.com/video/Ad5Fyo-ey70/v-deo.html
Wow.What is the guitar above Pats headstock?
That is our Manhattan model.
It’s more than my mortgage
I want to get to that place of always "getting presents"
Sad what has happened toPat. Hope he can recover.
Sadly died a few days ago, if you haven't already heard
Did you record this with a Dixie cup and some string?

FOR THE ONE THUMBS DOWN YOU JUST MIGHT BE A SERAIL KILLER !!!
Love his minor vibe. Wish he had put out a solo guitar cd. I don't want to hear anything else when he's playing.
He play like a Bach !!
FOR THE THUMBS DOWN YOU JUST MIGHT NEED A EAR TRANSPLANT!!!
Haha. I’d rather not.lol. Trying to pull a friggin concert out of pat....guess he checked that shit off.lol
RIP to the goat!
