Ukraine forces unit fire anti-tank missiles at a Russian T-80BVM tank in Kharkiv

- Aerial video released on May 18 by a Ukrainian military unit operating in Kharkiv shows Ukrainian troops firing anti-tank weapons at a Russian T-80BVM tank north of Pytomnyk, a town just six miles from the Russian border in Kharkiv Oblast.
The video shows a Russian battle tank on a rural road with sparks and smoke emanating from its rear right side, indicating it was already damaged. The tank’s gun fires into a field to its east at unknown targets.
At a T-junction about 1,200 ft (371 meters) up the road, a Ukrainian soldier appears, crouches, and fires a weapon toward the tank.
The tank swivels around and accelerates toward the junction. The soldier retreats into bushes and the tank fires at him, but misses its target.
The tank continues forward and, as it passes through the T-junction, comes under fire to its west before exiting the roadway and into bushes and trees lining the road. It turns its gun around to take another shot at the soldier fleeing to the east, but misses again.
Storyful has not confirmed when the footage was shot. However, heavy fighting was reported in the area throughout the middle of May.Konstantin Nemichev, who heads the Kraken unit of Ukraine’s Azov Battalion, announced the liberation of the town on May 8, but the Ukrainian military said Russian forces were shelling Pytomnyk and other small towns in Kharkiv Oblast over May 14 and 15, and again on Wednesday, May 18, according to Kharkiv regional authorities.
On May 17, Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser at Ukraine’s internal affairs ministry, posted photos on Telegram showing Ukrainian military officials, including the head of the Kharkiv garrison of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Melnyk, examining damaged Russian vehicles and ammunition in Pytomnyk. Melnyk documented evidence that Russian forces had used “prohibited weapons,” Gerashchenko said.

@@aaronmicalowe u are not there, go show them how to use a tank.
Well, at least they showed some aggression and verve -- and their speed of action arguably saved them from the AT shot from the side, by making themselves a more difficult target. I think the tank here did well… they managed to escape… with agressive and evasive maneuvers… doesn’t look to me they were unexperient at all
@@polarvortex3294 What's more, the tank HAD infantry support. The troops in the trench at the start of the video were fellow Russians. It HAD infantry support and went off hunting rocket-armed infantry all on it's own and ended up having to run. Ideally it should have moved back behind the trench forcing the Ukrainians to advance towards the infantry in the trench line in order to keep engaging the tank. Then once both side's infantry were engaged the tank could come back up to support it's own infantry element.
Again what I think we're seeing here is the Russian rank-and-file's lack of training. I'm also willing to bet that the tank and infantry element didn't have any form of radio communication with each other to coordinate which is fairly crucial, especially in a situation like this were the unit is in a defensive position and therefor the tank is likely to be buttoned up, cutting off any other communication with the supporting infantry. I wonder if they even HAVE a way of communicating at that small unit level.

Na you dont know what yoire talkin about. Russia is throwing tanks out with untrained crew.. no infantry aupport.. no logistics. Just go here and shoot.. USA tanks dont do that.. they arent used in that manner at all and never would be. This is why we lost none during the Iraq war

The thing with a tank isn’t that they are invincible (they never have been and never will be). The main purpose of a tank is to give overwhelming firepower to support an infantry advance. When combined with air superiority and ifv’s it’s a match made in heaven. There are currently no vehicles that can do what tanks do and better. Yes they are expensive but they are hard to kill when proper tactics are involved. The Russians are using vehicles from the Cold War Bc they can’t afford to make better so they just upgrade what they have. The biggest problem with them is the auto loading feature which basically puts a big ring of ammunition in the center of the tank making it so that ammo racks are a death sentence. NATO tanks have blast proof doors to protect the crew in case of an ammo rack. Nothing is perfect and everything will become old and need to be replaced but the old will stick around until something better comes in to replace it.
I hope this helped if you do indeed read it🙂

Damn.. that was intense. Sad, to see the NLAW miss its target.
Fool
It didn't miss. It was fired under the minimum distance so it didn't go off.
bit higher, all it needed
I think it was an RPG. The first hit was direct and the ERA stopped it. The NLAW has a tandem charge which defeats ERA. Therefore, they more likely fired something like an RPG.
@@raimobrunning3657 it wasn't that close, it ricocheted off the ground
That was an interesting edit!
Why show all the other stuff but not the first hit?
I just dont understand why the video ends?? Why it's cut right there??

whats with the cut in the video? i dont get it
Probably some soldiers got hit and they don't want you to see.
Why are the acrual hits always cut out of the video?

Operation mockingbird
A lot of these videos are edited, cutting out crucial moments. I can only guess to either conceal tactics/vulnerabilities, or to hide unfavorable outcomes. The supposed NLAW strike is strange. There is already action that has happened with smoke around the tank, and the shot(If I'm interpreting it correctly), comes from left to right. A supposed Ukrainian is then seen fleeing on the right side of the road. No idea what's happening here.
I love how everyone in the comments is giving props to both sides, like you're watching an airsoft game or something.
psychosis and stupidity beyond any measure, yes..
damn you gotta have some balls to walk out into an open road like that, some david vs goliath type stuff
He had a "sling" too. At 0:47 the soldier fires something at the tank. You can see a small exhaust flume appear behind him, and, shortly thereafter, a little cloud of dust appear in front of the tank where the missed shot lands.
@@polarvortex3294 what's a sling btw
@@AlleyCatGhost It's a strip of leather with a pouch in the middle where a stone may rest. When the strip is whirled rapidly, the stone may be released with great velocity, as happened when David slew Goliath in the story you mentioned. Here, the modern "sling" seems to be an RPG.
We only saw about 2 minutes of the encounter and at the end of the video clip the Russian tank was still alone without support and still surrounded by Ukrainian troops and under surveillance by a Ukrainian drone. I wouldn't bet that that Russian tank crew survived the day.
Second later, the Ukrainians finished it off.
It was a Russian drone

The whole world media is trying to push this narrative..........its all because Putin kicked the Rothschilds out of their banking system.......the globalist cabal have been waiting to paint him as a tyrant for years now.
Right, all you ever really see is Russian Tanks getting attacked, or Russians attacking Schools, Hospitals, and Homes.
That crew and tank were absolutely amazing considering what happens to most those Russian tanks, fantastic job to the crew.

Any military people here? Does anyone know how high these drones go? And can u hear them from the ground? Id appreciate it if anyone knew. Thanks
Tank crew: Let's engage multiple foot mobiles hiding in the woods with anti tank rockets and launchers all by ourselves with no support! 😃
Both parties deserve respect in this engagement. Ultimately this time, the steel won the bout.
How fast was that tank... It chased the guy firing the anti-tank missile.
T80 is fast. Up to 80 km/h (50 miles) on road.
There was another guy right opposite the other side of the road.fired but missed the tank, which is good nobody was killed

looks like a victory for the tank
IDK IF YALL NOTICED. But the man who actually shot the rocket is laying on the grass right infront of the tank! You can kinda see him move. The tank is literally 12 feet from him

I must admit that crew have some skills.
Russian tank skills attack apartment buildings, children, dogs, and other innocents.
@@handelnumber1 lol of course they do when those buildings is where ukraine soliders hide. Blame them not the russians because if russia wanted to flatten whole of ukaine it would easily be able to with air force and misles.
@@handelnumber1 its like NATO did in Iraq, afganistan and other place ...
no, they really don't have skills. you know nothing about tanks. properly trained, and realizing they had NO infantry support, the proper course of action SHOULD have been to break out their antipersonel weapons (the tank mounted machine guns), and use those to cover a quick retreat to where there WAS support. Is that what you saw? hardly. they tried to run over an antitank group and failed (of course), then tried to use their main guns (fail), then panicked and drove into a ditch in the forest on the side of a road... a ditch surrounded by forest they can't see through, which leaves perfect cover for antitank crews. why are people like you so utterly clueless, but so sure of themselves? I don't get it.
The tank still managed to take some damage and keep fighting on
What damage? Did either of the shots fired even connect? That smoke at the end was the tank spitting out a smokescreen by injecting fuel into its exhaust.
@@death_parade At the beginning you can clearly tell the tank took a hit and is on fire.

What was plug nut Russian shooting at? It came from above Scooter.
Hats off to the Russian Tank and it's crew...It shows the capability of it
IT showes STUPIDITY of it. A) No infrantry support. 2)They are driving in to the place, where there is enough of trees to hide a whole batalion of soldiers, being visable for every direction, coudn't see nothing around them. 3) They are surrounded here, getting fired on from all of directions. - trust me, either they did surrender, or they did not see another sunshine. 4) there is a drone over their head. No chance to go anywhere. They are either dead by now, or they surrendered.
the capability of it? basically an outdated tank with moderate upgrades, horrible ammostorage, no thermal for commander and no crew saferty measures.
@@anton2417 You acting like You drove that particular tank in there
@@takeshikovacs8756 lol he does… however I agree, I would be feeling a lot more comfortable running on foot through the trees than inside the tank also I believe each tank should have its own drone like this and survey the surroundings before it engages… poor guys are literally fighting almost blind inside it, not a favorable environment

I am guessing that the driver succumbed to injuries or fumes from the way he crashed his tank into trees. The turret was still active, so perhaps the gunner was okay for a while longer. Who would want to be part of a Russian tank crew, with over a quarter of their active tanks already destroyed or abandoned within Ukraine? So many people dying for the futile dreams of a failing dictator.

0:26 that guy in the ditch 7 meters in front of the tank actually starts to roll over on his side because he thinks the tank is about to drive right over him. but then he sees the tank stops to aim, and he stays flat on the ground!! truly intense combat situation! the amount of adrelanine must be overwhelming
It seems this tank crew was cut off from its main unit, probably lost. Probs to the tank commander, or whichever crew reacted promptly. Seems they maneuvered into the forest, to escape.
"Hey! This thing's on fire! You'd better send an SCV out to repair it, and fix my bike up too, while he's at it."
The tank crew did a good job to escape the enemy, as well as the ukrainians trying to destroy them. But I really don't understand one thing in this battle. Why is this russian tank all alone on that road, what did he do there, what was his goal. Me, as a former armored infantry platoon leader, cannot understand the tactics of the russian forces. There are no tactics. A single main battle tank on a street with woods and bushes at both sides is completely lost and an easy target for infantry. The lowest tactical team is the platoon, not a single tank. The only reason what I could imagine, is that the russian group had been already decimated before. Very impressive video.
Its not. There is Russian infantry all around. The video is just edited for propaganda.
@Citizen...excellent comment...The only thing I could come up with is your last sentence: "the russian group had been already decimated before"
Otherwise, that tank had no business being there all alone. It was like a suicide mission for the russian tank being there.
Luckily...It seem like the Ukranians soldier ran out of Javelin anti-tank missiles.

@@springbloom5940 Propaganda for whom ? If the few soldiers we see in the trenches at the beginning are russians, they should advance in the cover of the trees and bushes and attack the enemy infantry to help their comrades in the tank.
