I’m not even 20 and I’ve been vegan for almost 4 years. I am a very open and calm person and have spoken to people about veganism and let them voice their opinions BUT my mother, who lives in the same house as me, will have the same discussion with me every week. It’s always how she buys free range eggs and “good companies” products. I’ve explained to her that this isn’t the case but she has literally brainwashed herself into thinking there are compassionate meat and dairy products and without researching believes every product she buys is the least harmful product just by chance. How do I get through to her?! I’m sick of being yelled at by my own family for putting words to a crime
Ricki -Lee this exactly like my mum , I'm 16 and when I'm passionate about vegan ism and activism she just tells me to write a blog she argues with me when I try to tell her something she says she knows the torture that goes into what she eats and that it's bad but it's her selfish behaviour that is keeping the industry open she even liked a slaughter house video I shared on fb but didn't even watch it , two words selfish cowards
+ *Ricki -Lee* Can you just say to your mother, calmly, mind you, "These are lies you tell yourself to feel OK about something you are too good a person to feel OK about. I don't want to discuss this anymore." As a way of establishing a boundary for yourself so you don't have to keep justifying your veganism to people who aren't ready to hear it, I mean?
I'd say to stop bothering, at least for now. Give her an open window of "If you want to learn more, let me know." But otherwise just put your boundaries and live on
A very good and relaxed way to talk to the people, Ed. This is the best way to open up people for veganism. A big thumbs up for your work from Germany.
Great outreach! You’re such a peaceful and powerful example. I just did my first outreach here in Dunedin, New Zealand two days ago and tour videos are so great, thank you!
Thank you l have cut all red meat and on the verge of reducing replacing dairy then l only have fish to cut. I have found for me the gradual approach as I educate myself re how to properly replace and supplement my diet has helped with lasting change. It's not always easy but so worth it!!!!!!
Doron Modan same here. Late to the party at 44 and wish I could go back in time to start sooner. But it's great to realize I no longer contribute to animal cruelty.
Been vegetarian for around 3 months now, I’m 13 years old, I was brought up eating meat all my life, about a year ago I realized what meat really was (how they kill them),at the start my mom wouldn’t let me give up meat bc she didn’t want to make separate dinners (parents and siblings eat meat), then she let me and now I’m a full vegetarian and I’m never eating meat again
It’s annoying when people say “I’m too old to change”. That mindset is so toxic. Even when I’m 80, I will ALWAYS be open to changing bad habits, and learning new perspectives..
I love the enthusiasm of the lady with the little pom-pom hat. If only she were a vegan she'd be a force to recon with. I also want to say that you can tell how much compassion Ed has. You can hear it in the way he speaks and in the way he listens. It's remarkable.
They also did this in my capital (Vienna) and by that time I used to be vegetarian already. Then this man came up to me and we had an hour long conversation basically haha It completely changed my mind
I will be 50 this year and by my birthday I hope to be fully vegan. The last two things I eat are eggs from a local friend who loooves her chickens and does not kill them. And wild caught salmon here in Alaska. But I quit dairy and meat in the last two months and it was the best decision I ever made! I’m hoping my husband at some point can switch over.
Ed I really like the way you carry yourself, approach people, LISTEN, and then think of clever calm ways to get people to think about their actions without them feeling threatened by “militant vegans”. I feel a lot of people are just scared of change, out side their comfort zone and don’t know where to start so would welcome any help. So it’s great when you give out cards or flyers for websites, documentaries etc so they can continue to educate themselves and others in their own time. I fully respect your efforts and how you’re doing it. Keep it up!!!
"60 years of eating meat, and I'm not going to change now." That is exactly what I did. Better late than never. Like most vegans, I now wish I had done it sooner.
Socratic questioning at its best - we can all learn a lot from this approach, for outreach, Cube of Truth etc or just talking to friends and family. Here is a (very rough!) transcript of Ed's on point questions and messages (key Qs with >): "To give you a bit of context what we're doing is showing slaughter house and farm footage taken in the UK to show people what they're supporting when they buy meat and dairy. > Is there a humane way to kill an animal that doesn't want to die? > Do you think we have to eat animals to live or can we survive without? How about vegans - can we survive without milk, cheese and eggs? > Do you think, bearing that in mind we can be healthy without eating those things, how do we justify allowing this to happen to animals if it doesn’t have to? (this is a free range egg farm) What does a humane slaughter look like do you think? > Do you think that is the reality? The way I see it, if an animal has had a really beautiful life - if we take them to a slaughter house even without fear, pain and suffering, because they have a preference to live, does that not still mean it’s cruel? This is the humane - the nicest way to kill an animal. The bolt gun doesn't kill them - it stuns them, but it doesn't always work. > What would a humane way look like - even if we took away all the pain and suffering, as the animal has a preference to live it is still cruel? (dairy) How do we then morally justify…..? > Do you think it’s strange that if we saw the animal we wouldn't want to eat them and as a species we have to detach as far as possible from the reality of what we're eating? What about the animals that we eat and aren't in pain and don't want to die? ~ "There is a victim involved, the animal that is suffering. A farmer can always find a different job - an animal can't find another life." Earthling Ed ~ > What do you think is the difference between eating a pig and eating a dog - or is it the same? Why do you say it’s different then? It’s a cultural thing. > When you eat animals, do you ever think about the animal that you are eating? It was a big part of what we ate - we're all vegans, but we didn't start off like that - I was eating meat for nearly 20 years of my life and I loved the taste, don't get me wrong. I started to see footage like this and started to question this and thought this just isn't right - I couldn't support this anymore when animals were suffering when they didn't have to. I eat all the food I used to eat - I eat burgers and stir fires, pasta and mac and cheese, but now I eat it from vegan foods, from plants. > Do you think veganism is something you might try? They're commodities aren't they, they're objects - it’s like a sack of spuds, it’s not like there is a live living animal in there. They depersonalise animals - objects to make money from - desensitized. Eggs - the male chicks in the egg industry are not suitable to be killed for meat; they obviously don't produce eggs so we slaughter them alive by maceration or gassing them alive - 40 million day old chicks inc day old chicks. Culling of Badgers - so you do disagree with animals being killed? But what is the difference between killing a Badger and killing a pig and a cow? If we did eat them? They think and feel and want to live. > We're all compassionate people and we all love animals…… Do you think you can love animals if you eat them? As a species we do some horrible things to our own species as well, but obviously we do horrible things to non-human animals. Now you and I we can't do much about government and politicians can we, but what we can do is change what we buy and what we support as individuals - this only happens to animals because we buy those products. > Bearing in mind we both agree that we don't have to eat animal products like meat and milk to live, how do we morally justify this continuing if it doesn't have to? (you can't really!) Do you eat animals yourself? How will you in the future from now on morally justify to yourself paying for an animal to die when they don't have to? Go Vegan! The thing is, we live in a society now when it's so easy to just buy something different - in Tesco’s, Sainsbury’s etc - buy soya, rice milk, almond milk, . then these animals don't have to suffer then. There are plenty of substitutes like vegan ben and jerries’. It's becoming so much easier for us not to support this kind of cruelty. You know, we love dogs and cats - if we saw someone right now abusing a dog, we'd all run in and stop them - the fact is that if we saw someone abusing a pig, we'd also stop them. (If we were abusing them). Do you not think the fact that the animal doesn't want to die, and they want to live out their life because we keep them in farms and we kill them - that is a form of abuse? They probably don't know they are being bred for meat; but they know that their life isn't one they probably want to live. Because they think and feel - they are conscious and alive, cows, sheep, chickens are as well. It won't happen over night - you don't give yourself enough credit - we all love animals and we don't want to suffer. Unfortunately, what we don't realise is when we buy their flesh and their products they have had to suffer for that. Do you think (a humane death) is realistic? Gas chamber - even the most humane way still causes pain and suffering. The solution is to stop eating it (food for thought!) I used to get KFC pretty much every week - now when I see KFC and I think of these birds and it doesn't seem like food to me - its just a process." The way you speak to these people is so good. It makes them question themselves instead of telling people what is best. Great work!!
you are so good at having these conversations man
Well done Ed.
You are bringing out the best in these basically kind people and making them think. This is beautiful !!!!
Thank you for your work 💖
Well done Ed. You are a inspiration to us all.
I love your style Ed, very gentle and understanding and asking questions. Thanks for all your work.
Thank you l have cut all red meat and on the verge of reducing replacing dairy then l only have fish to cut. I have found for me the gradual approach as I educate myself re how to properly replace and supplement my diet has helped with lasting change. It's not always easy but so worth it!!!!!!
I do feel your approach is consistently effective. Great work
Modern day Socrates right here.
Yes! As you may know, Socrates didn't eat meat.
Thank you for everything you do! 🙏🌱
I went vegan at the late age of 48. I should have done it much earlier, but at least now every day I save lives.
Doron Modan same here. Late to the party at 44 and wish I could go back in time to start sooner. But it's great to realize I no longer contribute to animal cruelty.
@@brunocyclist Both of us not only positively changed at a later age, but we are able to encourage others to go vegan too.
This was recorded in Portsmouth! I remember walking past this two years ago
It’s annoying when people say “I’m too old to change”. That mindset is so toxic. Even when I’m 80, I will ALWAYS be open to changing bad habits, and learning new perspectives..
Doing more videos like these keeps me inspired and helps me learn how to communicate effectively with people
Great people, wonderful work as usual Ed! Love from Paris
Attended my first cube today much thanks to you Ed! You are a true inspiration 😄
60 years of eating meet,so what lady?it is never too late to make a right choise!Love Your work Ed !
I love the enthusiasm of the lady with the little pom-pom hat. If only she were a vegan she'd be a force to recon with. I also want to say that you can tell how much compassion Ed has. You can hear it in the way he speaks and in the way he listens. It's remarkable.
Awesome work Ed x
What's wrong with putting killers out of work.
Much love for you and Joey. Dynamic Duo.
They also did this in my capital (Vienna) and by that time I used to be vegetarian already. Then this man came up to me and we had an hour long conversation basically haha
It completely changed my mind
The biggest problem I see is the absolute lies we're told when they say these animals are free range. They're not. We are lied to.
We've all been lied to.
Ed, I think you're absolutely incredible. We need more people like you in this world.
Never stop what you're doing. "Until every cage is empty".
I saw this kind of group in liverpool...already vegan and my friends where shocked.
Facts and logic destroys carnist nonsense every time
HitlerNr 2 , yes sweetie, if that prevents you from popping a vein in your head. ;)
I love how you are so calm, and patient with the people. You are awesome Ed!
You got that words to convince anyone and that too respectfully! Proud of you brother!
You are amazing Ed!
Full support from india
Great job Ed, just gotta keep pounding it into their heads. What they have been doing all their past years is so horribly wrong.
Great work!!!Thank you!!👍💪🌱🌱
I will be 50 this year and by my birthday I hope to be fully vegan. The last two things I eat are eggs from a local friend who loooves her chickens and does not kill them. And wild caught salmon here in Alaska. But I quit dairy and meat in the last two months and it was the best decision I ever made! I’m hoping my husband at some point can switch over.
Ed speaks to people in the exact way you’d want to be spoken to to convince you of something. Amazing work
MAN I BEEN WATCHING YOU FOR YEARS BT LATELY U GROW MENTALY SO MUCH NO WORDS TO DISCRIBE ... WOW
Wish more Vegans would watch and learn from your videos. Cool, calm, convincing. Keep up the great work Earthling Ed.
Been vegan since 1988 aged 18. I'm now 52 and feel great
The lady with the bobble hat knows her stuff but still hasn’t made the connection 😢😢
Massive, massive respect to all the people who do this vegan outreach!
The most overused response for a meat eater: "That's a difficult question"
You are my hero!
Haha aw the lady in the beanie starts telling him about dairy farms :') bless
Such great work! Thank you! Keep it up!
Thank You so much for doing that Ed!!!!! You are making a big difference!
Everyone is in such denial. It's so frustrating to hear them trip over their words...they're nearly there with getting it but then they just...don't
I have such admiration for Ed. He is so good at keeping calm ♡
Thank you, Ed. You are a GEM!
Keep doing what you your doing Ed! Vegan forever!
"60 years of eating meat, and I'm not going to change now."
That is exactly what I did.
Better late than never.
Like most vegans, I now wish I had done it sooner.
Ed your work is wonderful. Keep fighting for compassion WITH compassion!! 😘
6:45 couldn't help but notice how tall those ladies make you look :O great video as always Ed!
They're just hobbits
Socratic questioning at its best - we can all learn a lot from this approach, for outreach, Cube of Truth etc or just talking to friends and family. Here is a (very rough!) transcript of Ed's on point questions and messages (key Qs with >):
"To give you a bit of context what we're doing is showing slaughter house and farm footage taken in the UK to show people what they're supporting when they buy meat and dairy.
(this is a free range egg farm)
What does a humane slaughter look like do you think?
A farmer can always find a different job - an animal can't find another life." Earthling Ed ~
> What do you think is the difference between eating a pig and eating a dog - or is it the same?
(you can't really!)
Do you eat animals yourself?
The solution is to stop eating it (food for thought!)
I used to get KFC pretty much every week - now when I see KFC and I think of these birds and it doesn't seem like food to me - its just a process."

“In the future, how will you justify killing an animal for food?” SUCH a good closing question!!!
Love this!!! 💗
I love the way you steer their false perspectives into truth! You are a vegan street magician haha xD
watching an absolute professional at work is a pleasure.
Love you Ed.
Thanks for everything you do. xoxo
thank you so much for what you do
Beautiful people opening their hearts and minds ❤️❤️❤️
Sainsbury's ad with a lovely Christmas Turkey for this video, the algorithm definitely understands.
Ed, thank you so much for your efforts. It is unbelievably inspiring and I am so grateful.
