Elvis was already offered medicine in the army to stay awake..Elvis suffered from insomnia and needed medicine to sleep and then wake up..The use of drugs only got out of hand in 1973..Elvis had many doctors who prescribed Elvis whatever he wanted..At the end of his life, Elvis was very sick sick and addicted .. But the performances and singing voice were always a diamond..I myself focus only on Elvis' music and performances these days.

By the end of his life Elvis was so sick that nobody could help him. He suffered from disease in nine of eleven bodily systems, including five that were present from birth. Drugs didn't kill Elvis. His body just couldn't take it anymore. People need to do their research before making any assumptions and comments regarding his drug usage. 😢

Thank you for your great reaction!
Elvis` situation was far more complicated than presented in this video.
Before the Army, Elvis didn`t take any drugs. The Army provided soldiers with different drugs and Elvis got them, too.
Elvis already had health issues as a little boy which complicated his life.
He didn`t consume alcohol and was strictly against drugs,... street drugs.
A lot of drugs Elvis took were painkillers and other common and less dangerous drugs.
It`s all too difficult to explain in a short comment.
But one thing must be mentioned. His mom died at age 44 without having taken any of the drugs Elvis took. Elvis inherited many health issues from his mom and her ancestors.
Many of his family members on his mother`s side also died young.
In 2020, author Sally A. Hoedel published the book DESTINED TO DIE YOUNG.
She had researched both sides of Elvis` parents and came to very interesting conclusions where Elvis` health is concerned.
Dr. Nichopoulos was certainly guilty of "milking the cow" until she dropped dead, and in my book he is guilty. What he did was a crime. But as you mentioned, those were different times, and the prescription of drugs was treated very differently compared to today.
In the 50s and 60s, housewives were literally stuffed with Xanax and nobody cared about their side effects. His manager Colonel Parker was also guilty of working his "Milk cow" to death. It`s all so very sad and complicated.

I just read an interview with a Dr. Forest Tennant who wrote a book about what Elvis' real problem was. He had access to all of the autopsy reports, medical records, etc. I believe he ecen testified at Dr Nick's trial. He said Elvis had a disease called EDS.
After the trial, Tennant remained curious about Elvis’ medical problems and continued his research while treating people with intractable pain. The knowledge and experience Tennant gained in the last 50 years led to his recent book, appropriately titled “The Strange Medical Saga of Elvis Presley.”
Elvis did indeed suffer from heart problems aggravated by an excessive use of drugs, but Tennant believes the ultimate cause of his death was a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), a major cause of intractable pain and other chronic health problems.
A diagnostic screening tool for EDS didn’t exist when Elvis was alive and few physicians were even aware of the condition. But Tennant thinks Presley had all the symptoms of EDS, including an unusual degree of flexibility and double jointness that allowed him to swing his hips and gyrate wildly. Those sexy dance moves helped make Elvis famous, but they also foretold what lay in store for him.
EDS is a genetic connective tissue collagen disorder, and what that means is that you are genetically predetermined to have your collagen in certain tissues either disappear or deteriorate or become defective, and to put it bluntly, you can have a rectal problem and an eye problem at the same time due to the same cause because your collagen is deteriorating in these tissues,” Tennant told my colleague Donna Gregory Burch in a 2021 interview. “If you get a severe case like Elvis Presley, your life is going to be very miserable, and you're going to die young unless you get vigorous treatments.”
The day before he died, a dentist gave Presley codeine for an aching tooth, not realizing how sick he was or that codeine could cause his heart to stop. Elvis collapsed in the bathroom 24 hours later. His sudden death led to rumors that he died from an overdose or even a horrible case of constipation. The truth is more complex.
“Nothing happened to Elvis Presley that we don't have a good logical, scientific explanation for now. But certainly back in those days we didn't,” Tennant explained. “Elvis Presley had multiple diseases. He was terribly ill, and he died accidentally in some ways with a dentist giving him codeine for his bad tooth, and his bad teeth were also part of the same disease that gave him a bad colon and a bad eye and a bad liver. They were all connected.
“He had all these metabolic defects due to his genetics, and so the codeine built up in his system. He had this terrible heart, so he died suddenly, within seconds, as he was trying to sit on the commode.”

200 Cadillacs, King of Kindness, and A Generous Heart will give you a great look into the person Elvis was… unfortunately, this gives the impression of a man who was constantly drugged out of his mind and was ignoring people who told him any different. It must be remembered that he had severe health problems and was prescribed medication for such conditions that are not narcotics or have any other use except therapeutic purposes and his doctors also suspected he had a more serious underlying condition causing his symptoms which they were not able to diagnose.

    Hey mate
    You are so right
Elvis was surrounded by YES men who didn't care about him
They didn't say anything because they were scared Elvis would fire them and there charmed life would be over
Elvis needed a true friend around him
Not those so called friends who were around him because he was Elvis
    Lisa Marie hated those people
She was the only one that could see what was going on as she later explained
She was only 9 years old when her father died
She saw him lying on the bathroom floor
His so called ex wife didn't help.
    She was another user
The only person that cared for Elvis was his mother
    After she died
    Elvis felt alone and unloved
    Elvis life wasn't that glamorous
He suffered in the hands of his manager, his father and the so called friends
    The Memphis Mafia
Elvis worked himself to death because of these people
    And the sad thing is
These people didn't care about him
They were only worried about themselves

    Hi Duane,
Elvis was given Anphedamines for the 1st time in the Army while on Patrol in the fridgid Winter in Germany guarding the boarder with Russia along with the other Soldiers to help them stay awake through the night, lest they fall a sleep and freeze to death.
From what I understand, it was a pretty common thing at that time for Preformers out on the road touring & doing 2 - 3 Shows a day to sometimes take an upper to help them keep up with the grueling schedual or a sleeping pill to help them sleep so they could get some rest. This was how it started. Elvis was adamantly against illegal drugs but because he only took what a doctor prescribed, he thought it was just medicine and his sometimes use of the pills didn't seem to be out of control at that time. The real problems only started after Dr Nick as he called him, got on the payroll in late 1970 because Elvis was having some health issues. I Personally believe that he was the reason Elvis got addicted, along with his Manager Parker, who worked him like a Dog to line his Pockets which added to Elvis's growing Health problems. He was also dealing with a Divorce from 1972 - 1973 all of this led to his increasing use of meds leading to his Untimely Death on Aug 16, 1977 at only 42.
I just wish someone would have told him not to worry about all of the people depending on him for a paycheck, it wasn't going to help them if he Died. He needed a Break, all the pressures of being ELVIS was just becomming too much!! The whole Story is just Tragic 💔.
I would Recomend You Watch the
E L V I S 2022 Biopic Movie that came out a year ago. It takes some artistic licence but overall, it does a good job of telling Elvis's Life Story.
Would you mind reacting to Elvis's

I remember when he died and watching his funeral procession on TV. I was 5 years old. As far as Elvis being on the toilet. After watching my father's experience with congestive heart failure, when his heart was having episodes, he'd have strong stomach cramps that felt like he was being hit with a case of diarrhea. That could have been what happened to Elvis. He sat on the toilet thinking he had to go, but it was him having the heart attack all along.

It was different back then. In the 1970s doctors gave out amphetamines like candy for weight loss. My mother and all her friends had them. The doctors told them they were completely safe. Elvis had many different doctors that would write any prescription he wanted. All those around Elvis stated that Dr. Nick was the only doctor to try to help him. He would get the pharmacy to give him placebos. He tried to control the amount of drugs he received by having his prescriptions divided into envelope instead of letting him have access to the entire bottle. Elvis was admitted to the hospital by Dr. Nick for “exhaustion “ several times to try to dry him out but it didn’t last long. There were no such thing as what we now call rehab facilities. Dr. Nick was not worried about Elvis turning to illegal drugs, but him turning to other random doctors that didn’t know him or care what he was taking. Many people did try to talk to Elvis, but he believed he didn’t have a drug problem. Elvis’s worst enemy was Elvis. Nobody said no to Elvis.

plenty of people **tried** to help but e would be harsh with them and refuse
      he didn't want help
he knew that what he was doing was hurting him and that he had pressing medical problems but he refused to do anything about it
no one could make or force e do anything...he knew how much power he had over the people in his life
i love e with my whole heart but he was incredibly flawed just like most humans
his biggest fear was that people wouldn't love him for the real him that they only loved the image
i wish people would quit talking about him like he was some ignorant or innocent child because he was neither
he was extremely intelligent, strong, could read people with laser point accuracy and very often in his later yrs very manipulative to the people closest to him
he knew exactly who and what the people in his circle were and didn't care he loved them
e was very aware of his faults and shortcomings
he accepted his responsibility for the direction his life took
      the cheating
      the drug use
      losing his family
ignoring his many health problems ect ect
stop taking his power away by painting him as a poor naive man that everyone used and took advantage of
      he loved his life
      he loved being elvis presley
e has all acknowledged many times how extremely hard he was on the people around him at times
they did absolutely everything for him and kept his day to day life afloat tending to the thousands of things in e's daily life, on the set, on the road and any free time that needed to be done
all e ever had to do was show up
      period
he never had to worry about anything else they did everything for him and that's why he loved them
      for better or worse
e was his own worst enemy
he was a victim of circumstance for sure
but never a victim in the sense most try to paint him in

Have you seen the “Elvis” movie? Some will argue it’s mostly false, but I’ve read a lot and seen many interviews and documentaries, and there is a LOT of truth, even when melded together or adjusted to have storyline be more smooth. I don’t care that his head was in a bucket of ice in a hall instead of his bedroom as reported. It says something if Priscilla, Lisa Marie and Jerry Schilling back the movie! I’d love to hear your take on it. Even more, I’d love to have you view it on like Patreon were we can watch it with you.

There is a book Destine to die young which explains a lot. He was very Ill for the last 4 years and they did try to help but he would not allow it. One of them said how do you tell your boss he’s wrong.

Elvis was talented and beautiful a trailblazer and cultural icon. I found it very difficult to watch anything from 1974/75 until his death in 1977. His last 3 to 4 years he was sick and addicted to prescription medications. Some of his fans think he was still beautiful and performing at his best but he wasn't and too sad to watch. 💔 it's great that you're taking the interest to delve into the end of Elvis but it is heartbreaking. Peter Guralnick's two books Last Train to Memphis ( the rise) and Careless Love ( the descend and end) are great books. They lay out Elvis' life. An American dream and then an American tragedy.😢

Elvis was drafted into the army..I think about 1957...He was extremely attached to his mother, which she became very ill while he was away..They did let him go home to see her but she passed away..I think that became his downfall..After the burial he had to return to the service.. Elvis worship the ground she walked on..His mom passed at a young age also..I think she was 48..He certainly had his heartaches .He took on responsibility to all of his family when he was only in his young 20s..He moved all of them into Graceland n gave them all jobs..Very big responsibility for such a young man n he was the only one paying every one..But he wouldn't have it any other way..He lived to make everyone n anyone happy..

Elvis was introduced to amphetamines when he went into the Army in 1958 and was stationed in Germany for 2 years. This documentary doesn't show the whole truth about Elvis health problems. The best book you can read to find out about his family's health history is "Destined to Die Young" by Sally A. Hoedel. Elvis's Mother died at age 44 from the same health issues Elvis did. It was much more complicated than people thought at the time. He had health issues from childhood, including insomnia. His mother died at age 44 from the same issues as Elvis did. She died soon after he was drafted into the army in 1958, and Elvis was shipped off to Germany shortly after. Her death absolutely broke his heart!
Elvis could have been given a cushy position in the Army but refused to do that and served as a regular GI.
During his 23 year career he recorded over 700 songs, starred in 31 movies, and performed 1,687 live stage shows. AMAZING ELVIS!!! BEST ENTERTAINER EVER!

Elvis inherited the genetic ailment A-1 antitrypsin which caused him to need a inhaler at some point to help him breath; on his '68 special sit down segment he touched his throat at one point & said hold it, i'm out of breath, wait a minute, but then in typical Elvis fashion he laughed & continued on. Dr. Nichopoulos died in 2016. An excellent documentary w-some of Elvis' entourage is at youtu.be/watch?v=kezAqHaDg2E -- it is almost 1 hr. -- maybe you can do it in 2 parts; a couple of the things mentioned is Parker's loss of over 1M in one night @ casino & saying the only thing that mattered was that Elvis be on that stage, & how his head had to be dunked in cold water. Lamar Fike who passed in 2011 was truly angered up to the day he died by what went on & called Parker the most degenerate gambler he's ever known. It's worth a watch. Thx.

He was not on pills all the time. He could stay away from it for months at the time. His doctor did not prescribe all the pills to Elvis alone. It was to the whole bunch of the socalled "Elvis Mafia". I saw a video that one of the body guards explained it.
In the early 70`s, he really did not have much problems. But from -74, it started to come out of controll. He also had a down after the Aloha From Hawaii in january -73.

Dr Nick wasn’t always available at times so what ever town they were in Elvis would show up at the local Dr home and tell dr what health problem he had and Dr would give it to him. Would you say no to Elvis Presley if he showed up at your house. I don’t think so.

It reminds me of the MJ situation. Who wouldn't want to be their doctor, and who was going to say no to them, because if you did, you're fired, and they get someone else! His diet wasn't the best either. You should look up his favourite sandwich.
It was such a travesty, in both cases.

I just read the book Destand to die young and OMG the story is so much worse then this video explains. All the members on his mom side died in their 40s and so much of his problems were genetic. People think his drug abuse was for fun but no. He felt HORRIBLE most of the time. He also have bone cancer. His medical records and autopsy won't be released for 50 year's after his death so I think thats coming up soon

we do not know that he had bone cancer; there's much misinformation that abounds regarding Elvis' life that even those closest to him will not be totally truthful or forthcoming about; there were talks between Lamar Fike, Marty Lacker & Kathy Westoreland about this; she said Elvis told her this; Marty & Lamar said it was not true & it was started by Vernon, believe it or not, who asked Billy Smith to tell a couple of the guys that Elvis had cancer; there's really only one person who knows the truth about Elvis & that person passed away on Aug. 16, 1977

This report is not completely accurate. He had been found on the bath floor with face in rug. He never used street drugs. He was introduced to uppers in the Army so he’d stay awake being up in freezing weather in tank. He was not high at the comeback special. Elvis was predisposed to the heart, liver, and pancreas. His mom died at age 46. One of his mom’s sister died at age 36. Elvis was in terrible pain. He had six feet extra colon. That was part of bloating issue. He’d go to hospital to get emptied out and come home 20 pounds less. His autopsy report was sealed for 50 years. It will show a lot. He’d be blinded by all the lights and flash bulbs on stage due to glaucoma. That is why you will see the guys literally take him off of the stage. Ginger was not the big deal. His 9 year old daughter heard the commotion and saw her daddy impaled on bath room floor. It ruined her life. She died last year suddenly of a heart attack. Priscilla was his ex wife at the time. His daughter was due to go home that day as Elvis was leaving that night for a concert tour. Elvis knew he was dying, but felt he needed to keep pushing cuz so many people depended on him for their salary. He was planning to take a break after tour and get himself better. He ran out of time. Elvis was an insomniac since he was a small child. If you really want to
Get more of a feel for Elvis, watch the 2022 movie ELVIS. Also, an excellent documentary is “ The Searcher” with complete guidance from Priscilla and Jerry Schilling( another close friend and member of Memphis Mafia. Oh, the only way to fix his colon problem was to have a colostomy bag. Elvis would never do that. He’d never be able to move about. Dr. Nick
did try, as did many others, try to keep Elvis away from pain meds. Elvis was in horrible pain. One thing the autopsy did reveal was Elvis already had three heart attacks prior to this deadly cardiac arrest before he died.

You only got an one sided view on the story of Elvis' death. If you want to get a better idea of what really happened to him you should perhaps read the books of Dr. Forest Tennant, The strange medical saga of Elvis Presley and Destined to die young written by Sally A. Hoedel and The King and Dr. Nick written by Dr. Nichopoulos.
