Thanks so much for posting this. There's only so much we can read and this video gives us a real feeling of what the line was like.

I bought the DVD. Very good it was too. Last time I was in Koondrook was in 1985. The memorial train consist looked quite different then.

    Interesting new DVD.
A story elated to The Sentinel locomotive when in operation.
On a community FM station around thirty years ago I heard a recording made of the Sentinel locomotive when in operation. This recording was made so long ago that it was made on a wire recorder in the pre audio tape era.

I love these historic videos of rail travel in the days of steam trains.
I grew up in Gippsland during the era of steam travel and vividly remember the excitement of catching the morning steam train in Meeniyan to Melbourne stopping in Korumburra for morning refreshments consisting of a pie and coffee then counting down the miles to travel from Dandenong to the city by reading the Griffith Brothers tea signs attached to the fence beside the railway. 😅
The Walker rail motors started running between Leongatha and Melbourne in 1951 for some services and we were excited with this update but in reality it was really the start of the end eventually resulting in the closure of the Great Southern Line. 😅

Yeah, I remember those Griffith Tea signs, they were all over Victoria If I remember correctly, we used to count them down from Maryborough to Ballarat and then to Melbourne, what memories eh?

My father used to mention this line back in the 70s & 80s. He said Steam hauled trains ran through to Barham also.
