Benq HT2050 (W1110) vs Benq HT3050 (W2000) Side by side video comparison

- Short image quality comparison of Benq HT 2050 on the left and Benq HT 3050 on the right. Both have standard settings, HT 2050 is in movie mode while HT 3050 is in Rec 709 mode. Both on same stock settings for brightness, contrast, lamp, colour saturation etc. Projecting o a 55" image on a white wall. Filmed with a S6 in auto mode, which does a decent enough job at reproducing the experience. The projectors are very close. I'd say HT 2050 is slightly brighter while HT 3050 edges it out slightly in contrast and colour reproduction.
I was debating between HT2050 and HT3050 and your video made me definitely consider HT3050. Thank you for being valuable contributor to AVS forums

This is a great comparison. Of course the ht3050 is suppose to be better but..this just goes to show that 1. The older 2050 can hold its own, still produces a very good picture...2. it's a great option for beginners 3. and has a great price. If you have a 2050 , no need to upgrade unless you want a true 4k projector at the $3k + price range. Now that's a real upgrade. Thanks for the video! 👍

Just picked up the ht3050 for $620 used. This video makes me satisfied with my decision, seems like the difference in greens in particular is pretty apparent. I really appreciate this!
@tnnt05 Ebay. Came in pretty beat up because the seller didn't package it properly (and as a frequent Ebay seller I tend to give others a pass). I'm only unhappy with the purchase because of the condition it arrived in, knocking around loose in a box with the ceiling mount banging around, unsecured.
The projector itself is excellent. The colors are superb and I'm overall very happy with it. I'm coming from an BenQ TH671ST, which was already a good performer.
The noise level could be a little better, it's not as quiet as I expected (But I'm coming from a 19db 1000lumen 1080p DLP, this projector is 27/29db, 2400 lumen).
I have the w1210st. I was thinkin about buy 3050 (w2000). Have u see difference on picture quality between ht671st and w2000?

The colors on the 2050 almost seem washed out compared to the 3050. They're very close though. Most won't ever compare the two every day so the one you get will be the best one for you.
You can Adjust the Colors
Are you kidding?.....get a Factory Refurbished HT2050A for $650 with a 1 Year Warranty and adjust the Color and it 90% of the HT3050 for $1000 Less !

how is the PQ playing 4kHDR on 3050? i know its a nonHDR PJ, but maybe using media player with HDR to SDR conversion
How are black levels? I have some prehistoric w700 720p Benq, and blacks are grey. I can buy W2000+ for 900 euros, and im debating is it worth or buy Epson tw7000 wich is 4k but seems too bright at 3000 lumens so i think blacks will suffer even in eco mode
Blacks are ok but not great. I still have the w2000 and it's pretty good for it's price point. Unless you consume a lot of 4k, I'd go for Benq for the superior colour reproduction.
Hi I am hoping to get a either a 2050a or 3050 if your buying in 2019 what will you buy? I am using this only to watch movies and it will be installed in home movie room. Budget 1000/=USD

Hi Nalin, I'd buy 3050 for movies. It is calibrated from factory and has better colors than 2050a. Plus it has lens shift (the 2050a doesn't), which might help with setting up.
W2000+ is slightly better

Another question, HT2050 is brighter than HT3050, but after 200 hours of use, the brightness will decrease on HT2050, it will be the same brightness than HT3050 at first time of use ?
Hi Glez. I'd always chose HT3050 because it is factory calibrated and has better colour reproduction. The second question is hard to answer without measuring, the brightness difference is barely noticeable after 200 hours of use.
Again, if the settings are NOT the same, this test doesnt tell us much.
Deejee Madrox rec 709 is the movie mode of the 3050. All settings (ie contrast, brightness, lamp etc.) are the same on both. One could professionally calibrate both but it would be too costly, so take this as a out of the box comparison.
