How to connect a Roomba to Wi-Fi:
1. Download the iRobot Home app.
2. Place your charging station and power it up.
3. Add your robot to the iRobot app.
4. Turn on your Roomba's internal Wi-Fi.

Can you use the j8 without an app? I'm having trouble with the app and Roomba. Somehow it isn't charging.
If your Roomba isn't charging, I suggest cleaning the contacts on the base and the Roomba itself. You don't need the app to use the Roomba. You press the start button and it will clean your whole house. With the app, you can control it by vacuuming specific rooms. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Thank you. I just bought this from Costco (on sale) but I was disappointed when I unpacked the box there is no user guide. I even tried the website link printed on the Safety information brochure but it says “cannot find page.” Moreso, this model J8 plus is not in the IRobot website.

Just got mine. The mapping took quite a while for it to really find all areas but it also found additional areas over the coming days as it was cleaning. As for how well it works…..it’s incredible. Plus we love using voice commands to have it clean up after breakfast etc. btw surprised how well it does with carpet…..I wasn’t expecting that.

You mean the iRobot Roomba or the parts?
Mine is still working and doing it's job, only thing that I have replaced is the brush and filter, rollers are still fine.

Yes, you can use it without Wi-Fi then it will be meaningless to operate such a costly vacuum I would suggest buying 99 dollar vacuum and then you can operate it manually.
With Wi-Fi and through the app (iPhone & Android) you can manage it to your needs. Scheduling the cleaning process and on-demand cleaning can only be done through the app which requires a Wi-Fi connection. I hope it helps.

What about if you have a two story house? Does the charging station remain in the same place and then you move the vacuum upstairs?
Good question, the best bet is to get 2 separate vacuums, and why I am saying this because it will be hard to operate or keep the charging station close to the stairs and you need to place the detection barrier controller next to the stairs so the vacuum doesn't fall into stairs. Also, you need to carry it each time up or down and it will be very hard to operate once it found the issues and it will return to its base and in this case, it won't happen because of the stairs.

We love it very much it has been running every day and keeping the house dirt-free.
Really love this vacuum 10 out of 10. Ours is only a vacuum and it doesn't have the mop option.
