My very 1st car - 1990 Civic Hatchback, manual, 2 door, front rotors / rear drums, carburetor, no power steering, no power windows, no abs, no tachometer on dash! Side mirrors were manually adjustable. However, the headlight beam was adjustable from the cabin with electrical switch. Bought it with 200k miles, sold it with 500k miles on it, and was still running well. With actual snow tires in winter, it was driving up in mountains like a snowmobile. Wish I still have it 😊✌️

Very nice car Bob! I had an '81 1st gen Prelude, brought it used in 1990 for $800. It was so simple to own. The 2nd gen's have lower seating position and feels like you're in a go- kart. I wish Honda would bring them back.😀

A word of warning for those getting excited watching this. Parts are impossible to find for preludes of any year. You have to find used parts and good luck finding them! It’s a bummer because they are a blast to drive. Nobody makes parts for these. I had an 88 and loved it but even if I wanted to restore it it’s not an option at Honda prices. You’ll probably have to pay exotic car pricing to get your hands on the parts necessarily to do a restoration.

@@ap101081 That’s great! I have a hard time believing they sell everything you may need but maybe that last generation or 4th generation is the exception. My 3rd gen 1988 I couldn’t find a transmission speed sensor for it anywhere and it never ran right because of it, always had a check engine light. My two excellent Honda specific mechanics with decades of experience told me preludes were just really hard to get parts for, the best bet is getting lucky at a salvage yard which they also tried to do for me. We also tried online. I loved that car but it was sketchy knowing at any moment it could blow something out that’s not replaceable and at that age it did blow things out being daily driven from time to time. Radiator cracked in half at the top and it blew out a CV axle, otherwise pretty reliable. Ran kinda hot which I suspect was from that world record low hood line that it had for a production car at the time. I could steer it with my pinky, lightest steering I’ve ever experienced, I could even throw the wheel from lock to lock.

My dad had an 84 'Lude. I was a late 80's baby and he bought a brand new 1993 Taurus SHO when I was about 7, but I definitely remember his red Honda. It was a stick shift, and the back seats felt scrunchy; but there is a memory in my brain of sitting back there watching him row through the gears. I think the Prelude has always been an amazing car. Years later I would sit in the last generation to grace the US, a '99 Type SH, at the North American International Auto Show here in Detroit, and it felt like the perfect car. I didn't want to get out of it honestly. Maybe the last perfect car.

Came with electric windows, sunroom etc... The power steering was soo light even a fly could steer it. My sister had the '86 2.0i 16v model. That was something else though. That one was a rocket. I stupidely sold it for a few bucks years later with only 88000km on it. Should have kept it. It wasn't that practical in the back when you have a baby crawling around...

I love the older pre 2005 toyota/hondas. The newer ones just don't drive the same.
Waiting for the day you find a 1989 Toyota Camry with a 2 Liter motor with low miles. Hardly see those on the road.

The prelude is one the first cars that got me into cars. I remembered my cousin owning an early 90s prelude in red when I was really little and thought it was the coolest car ever, and still think it is til this day. I'm shocked that the owner would part ways with it because they're so rare and unique. They really don't make cars like they used to as the youtuber said. Reason being is because cars nowadays are too expensive, too high tech, and aren't made to stand out anymore. Everyone just wants to copy eachother which takes away from the car's character and that's what cars nowadays lack is character. Wish car manufacturers would bring that back, but who knows what thw future of car manufacturering would hold.

There great until you get in a wreck with a modern day 5000lb SUV and wind up crippled for life.

84 was the best year. You could chirp the tyres in the first three gears. The five speed was amazing.
