A lot of people tend to forget that Roblox IS a gaming engine. Games like these are possible. they just need a lot of work & effort put into it.

To be more specific it’s Lua code, so you could actually build the source engine in Roblox if you had enough time and knowledge

I will say fnaf roblox games have been on the rise so it makes me sad when people still say "Roblox can do that?!?!?!" even after big fnaf games like forgotten memories got popular

If you're a beginner in game development, then Roblox is your ideal starting ground.
@@SwaggyG_2102 fr, I tried to learn roblox but then I switched to Unity and it was way easier for me, like Idk but learning roblox studio was WAYY harder for me than learning unity, and that mainly applies to learning c# and LUA U, C# was just easier for me

@@SwaggyG_2102exactly. i think also with most games you’ll end up wanting more, but with Roblox it seems that that line is much farther than someone would use with scratch, in which case they’d probably want to try the popular engines much sooner.
Roblox's engine is limited, like I'm not joking I'm no Roblox engine hater but it is limited, games like Twisted, Forgotten memories, and this game (there is probably alot more) push the limit's of the Roblox engine, meaning the Roblox engine.. maybe can do stuff that any other game dev did on any other engine, but most likely whoever making a big game will have to push the limits of the Roblox engine, so it isn't surprising, but it is surprising to an extent.
I love that micheal tries to defend himself in the jumpscares, like him blocking foxy’s attacks before getting his palm stabbed (known fact: the palm is one of the human body’s most sensitive parts, so it hurts when you stab it, alot)which stunned him long enough for foxy to kill him

Honestly if you showed the jumpscares in this game to either a Fnaf or Roblox fan say like 6 to 7 years ago and told them that it was a jumpscare from a Fnaf fan game made in Roblox they would of lost their mind
In fnaf 2's levels in HW, all you have to do is press down the music box button, and awkwardly reach over to flash the lights and put the mask on.
They pretty much Thanos snap 🫰 the puppet, which I don't mind they do so and replace Cassidy to Charlie
Honestly, how fluid and just good the animations are is astounding. So many Roblox games have weird or stiff animations, so seeing stuff this detailed is a breath of fresh air.

The creator said that he wanted to make a fnaf game that has mechanics from mamy fnaf fan games. Example Withered bonnie and Withered chica are dealed simillar as cat and rat from Five nights at candys 3. And other mechanics from other games.
Ok so what I can think of, withered Freddy is like that one mechanic in TJOC, withered bonnie and chica are like FNAC3 rat and cat, and then withered foxy and the 2 toy animatronics are like a reworked mechanic because of the lack of the puppet. (withered Freddy isn't enough of a reason to flip up the cams ig)

small facts and critics about the game
fact:
- the loading bar is actually fake (probably) because if you press Shift + F3 you'll see that the request size is 0 which usually means that everything is loaded in
- no freddy boop sound
- one of the reasons why the game looks so damn good is because it uses roblox's most intense lighting engines called "future"
criticisms:
- y'know how toy bonnie was the absolute rng b*tch? yeah imagine that but it's withered bonnie this time, because he will enter the room regardless if there's an toy animatronic in the office
- when the camera breaks and foxy happens to be inside that camera and the withered animatronic are in the vents? yeah, pray that they won't come out while you try to fix the fusebox

Another incredible roblox fangame would be Forgotten Memories. It uses animatronic models similar to the TJOC models and the gameplay is a stellar example of how to use free roam in a fnaf fangame!

I've been wanting to play a FNAF fangame on roblox, and after hearing about this, I was a little hesitant since its FNAF2, but after you said there's no music box, all bets are off im gonna play this later :p
Fun fact: michaels death sounds are the same as; in outlast 1 we play as mile upshur and the screams are the same like 1 to 1 same . Wich such a cool nod from the dev.

Honestly this and FNAF co-op are probably some of my favorite fnaf fangames considering they did so well to make the older games so much more than what they were before to making it feel like a whole new experience

Tbh if Scott never added the music box there’d really be no need for the cameras besides to check who’s gone and that’s it, after you know who’s left the stage or back room just close the cameras and wait for the animatronics.
Actually looking at the cameras and using the flashlight can retard the animatronics for 6,66 seconds so that would still be worth looking

Where you said you couldn't remember any other game using W. Freddy's mechanic here, TJOC story mode Creation has a very similar mechanic on night 5. He starts in the basement and slowly works his way to the attic, and once per hour, a room catches on fire, all the way to the top. Creation moves forward one step, and there is a flash on the right side of the monitor that shoves him back one step. If he exits a room, that becomes disabled. Combine this with the fact that in order to beat the night you have to make it until 6 AM and flash Ignited Golden Freddy 10 times, plus the endos from night 4 appearing on with side, and you have to use a lever that has a cooldown in order to swap between the house cams and the door cams, where you can only close one door at a time by the way, this makes for a truly difficult pattern, since Creation's movements are set, and if you miss him even once, it can spell disaster for the entire game.
The camera light for withered Freddy was literally the same idea I was having for my own fnaf game ☠️

I played the game and I will say, I love it but it is interesting Toy Freddy isn't every active against you but more so a random background prop in showstage camera. I am glad Balloon boy was removed though since it's real time and realistically idk how he'd steal your flashlight batteries, and that puppet was turned into the fuse box.
For those who were wondering where Toy Freddy was at, he wa busy playin the new Fortnite chapter.

probably the only bug that i found in the game its that you can go to the fuse box, with the mask on, meaning you can reboot cameras while one of the toys are entering the room
(but i would keep it, i mean night 4 its already hard as balls with it, plus it i more cool immersion)
now we just need this game to be remade on unreal engine for better optimisation
u should try fnaf coop!!! its fnaf 1-4 but multiplayer and you can even play as other joles besides night guard like janitor, engineer and police :D

I noticed you said you couldn't remember if any fan games had a mechanic simular to what Freddy has in this, and while is not the exact same. In the joy of creation story mode, in the attic section you use a flash on creation to reset his progress in a room.
And while you didn't bring it up, the mechanics for withered bonnie and withered chica are essentially the same as the rat and the puppet in Five nights at candys 3.

The coding itself is actually simple (I guess to me? Idk I think my version of simple is skewed, but it’s not super complex-1M line code), it’s just the _models_ and _animations_ that made this game so popular.

The Roblox engine is actually quite nice now, (bones, lighting,) the graphics have definitely improved, and increased support for 3rd party assets (textures, meshes, FBX animations) allows for cool games like this to be made. Of course, if you’re playing on an iPod, it’s going to be awful, which is why some games work with only Console and PC for optimization.

Honestly, I'm not surprised they were planning to move to Unreal engine for their next project.
There's a lot of strings attached to making game on Roblox:
-Fan games are at risk of being taken down for "copyright infringement" despite the celebration of the original series being the whole point - not saying it will always happen, but it's a higher risk for a fan game than if you made it on your own since Roblox can just arbitrarily make the call based off of some kid's report
-While it's great to have, the built in physics engine can definitely be buggy and hard to work with at times (I can only imagine how much effort went into making those animations)
-Roblox charges a 30% flat fee off of all robux you earn (this is pretty standard by itself, but the tax is 90% if you don't have premium - that's why he uses a group)
-In order to even be elligible to "cash out" the robux you earn for real world money, you have to first make 30k robux from sales (buying robux & trading items you didn't make doesn't count towards the total)
-The exchange rate is $105 for 30k robux - for reference, $105 would equate to less than the US federal minimum wage if you spent any more than 15 hours making the game
-By cashing out you agree to continue to update the game with security patches as needed (probably won't come up, but I noticed it was in the terms)
-Cashing out is a privilege, not an obligation, and they can just reject the cash out if you've violated the terms of use or if your paperwork isn't all properly in order - they typically spend 1 to 2 weeks investigating first time withdraws, and if it gets rejected, that's on you to fix.
-Advertising is abysmal - The advertising market on the website is oversaturated, making it too expensive to be worth the visits you'd get out of it. And advertising off the site wouldn't be worth it since most people won't download Roblox just to play one game anyways. So if you're hoping for a high or consistent player count, you're relying almost entirely on the horrible algorithm or a lucky hit with the search function to advertise your game for you, which probably won't work.
All that to say, main advantage of Roblox is that its engine comes with physics, character movement, and multiplayer functionality fully built in. But considering all the downsides that come with it, it's best used for a first time passion project like this. Or for meme places to make for your friends. As a fan game you can get taken down for copyright infringement quite easily, and as an independent project you won't really get nearly as much out of it as you could developing it and then publishing it somewhere else like on steam or itch.io.
If you actually want to become more serious about game development, and *especially* if you want to make any kind of a living or a name off of it, Roblox is not the best way to go. The bugginess of the engine, the hassle and lack of guarantee in payments, and the terrible advertising market sadly leave it as a poor option financially speaking. Not saying you can't make it work, but it'd usually be better to switch to another engine at some point.
