one thing that might explain why he might be moved to safety is arm length. NFL scouting deps like longer armed guys cause they think it makes it easier for them to press, bat balls down and just improves their catch radius in general. I don't know how long his arms are specifically but they look not too long which might explain why the narrative has cropped up. I know everyone has been focused on race (which makes sense given the history of the NFL; Colin Kaepernick 's kneeling, Black QBs like Lamar having to fight to not be moved to WR, race norming, how Eugene Chung was told he wasn't the "right minority" for a head coaching job, etc.) but it's not the only factor as to why Dejean is being considered for a move to safety.
There was a story on UA-cam that a white guy who is a Florida Native from Broward County and he had a teammate that is a DB and he was the best defensive player on the team there was a college scout from Oklahoma and he was looking for talent and he told him about his teammate who is White and the scout told him that they DON'T RECRUIT WHITE DB'S.
The key to playing CB at a high level in the NFL (If I had to pick ONE characteristic, which I never would) is long speed. So skin color is not relevant but overall speed may be. Coaches of course are ignorant at all 3 levels and all over America lol Far as Cooper goes, I would move him to safety if it makes sense and he can be a difference maker there mainly because its easy to find CBs by comparison to contribute at a high level. Safety on the other hand is a dying position in terms of effective play at the NFL level. So few guys are even worth using the franchise tag on.
I agree. Based on what I see, he should test well at the combine. But his best skill to me is playing zone which would be perfect for a Seahawks type scheme. I just don't like the narrative of him having to move positions because of skin color. If i'm being honest, I think he would kill at the Nickel position.
narrative is he's needs be moved to Safety. I look like he has good to very goodchange of direction/ speed in short distance. He also has great awareness which is part of being a good CB. Since u started this DB we need a mock Draft of best CBs in the draft from vantage point. As well can u do hidden gems far as small schools CB like Stephen
I like that idea! I will start looking into some prospects. But yeah, I was always told I'm too short 5'10 to play Cornerback, so I get triggered when people judge on appearance, not skill.
@@DB_Network yeah I think certain DBs coaches like the big tall corners. Slot wise & in space u gonna need those CBs 5-10 to 6-1. I'm glad u created this channel. Also, I going forward idea u should do like weekly best CB or the wk in college & pros. Then , best CB or the months. I really enjoyed your channel I glad it grownin as well
This is why I said that I wished that he was a sprinter while in college at Iowa it was said that he was a 4.50 guy and that's a obvious RED FLAG to me if he wants to play DB at the next level.

I was looking all over for a video like this, thank you.
My pleasure! Thank you!

What makes you think he has short arms, did you measure them?

He is recovering from a broken leg too. That could make some teams uncomfortable with him at CB.
I forgot about that! I hope he is able to fully test for his pro day.
Hoped he be aroud 4th round and Texans would pick him up.
I'd be estatic if he fell to the ravens pick. Get him in the same DB corp as Kyle Hamilton would be insane.
I like that team for him! He's got a Ravens attitude to him.
Hes like a swiss army knife. Can play DB and special teams

They def need the help in the secondary!

Not to mention that he also is an excellent punt returner
