    Hi Jayda, I'm 13 years old and it's me Lily again who commented on your vintage shawl pattern from a couple years ago and I love it. I can play the pattern in my head and it's so easy and BEAUTIFUL and I love to also crochet with thread. It is so beautiful and lacy and I also if it is a small project like your BEAUTIFUL crochet covered buttons, I love to crochet with embroidery floss and I have made 2 of those buttons and they are so pretty. I have made 2 of these collars in champagne and mauve and they are so easy and beautiful, the hardest part is sewing on the button and using it. I have a question for you, when did you start to crocheting with thread and embroidery floss, I started to crochet thread and embroidery floss at eleven years old and about 4 to 5 months since I have started in this little crochet and knitting world. You have helped me SO MUCH and I can't thank you enough. Keep On Stitching Jayda!!! -Lily!!!♡

      @JaydaInStitches  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Lily! I love hearing that you like working with thread and embroidery floss too 😁 I started knitting when I was around 11, and I taught myself to crochet a few years later. I remember trying cross stitch and embroidery when I was pretty young (under 10) because I come from a pretty crafty bunch of folks 💗 I started sewing around 12 and got utterly obsessed with making my own clothing...and I haven't looked back! I've been busy working on something with a hook or a needle every week since 😊🧶!

      Hi Judith, I agree! I don't like tight things around my neck either! Thank you for watching :)

    • @LyraBarnes
      @LyraBarnes 6 років тому

      @@JaydaInStitches Yeah, I feel like I'm being choked when something's too tight around my throat.
      I'm currently crocheting a second one for my mum, but had to make it bigger, as she has an 18 inch neck. I did the medium sized collar, which measured 17.5 inches in total (I have a 14 inch neck). So I figured a collar for my mum would be at least 21.5 inches.
      I know the V stitches are worked into a foundation chain of three, so I just crocheted three chains until I got to that size, then added one more chain. I put it around my mum's neck, but she wanted it bigger, so I added two chains, plus another extra one. I ended up with 102 half-double crochets 😂 I just hope it's comfortable enough on her.
      Just started the second row of V stitches.

Tuck your last bit of yarn make sure your beginning tail is still coming out of the ball. You now have a pull out ball. Thank you for sharing your talent.

    Hi Jayda,
    Can you do a tutorial on how to crochet over hoop earrings (preferably with a bead or 2) ?
    I realize there are videos on how to do this, but they are too difficult and the crocheter talks too fast. It's almost as if, they just can't wait to get the video over with. At least YOU care about whether people LEARN because you teach and speak s-l-o-w-l-y. You understand the DIFFERENCE between a "demo" and a "tutorial" !
    IF you do an earring vid, please make it for beginners. - - E-A-S-Y- -. I'm sure you'll get a million views because yours will be superior to the others. Thanks

    Any idea how many chain to do if I use a #10 thread with a 1.90mm hook? (Or any size of steel hook...I have several, just prefer the 1.90mm for the #10.) Btw, I really appreciate your creativity! I've used many of your ideas for gifts. Thanks!

      Hi there! The size 10 is nearly half the size of the size 3, if that's all you have, then you might have some luck doubling up the size 10 and using a 2.00 mm. But I would finish Row 1 and try it around your neck first to make sure it's not too small!

    Awesome tutorial, and you’re extremely likeable ♥️ I’ll make this collar for sure! Do you have any tips to help it stay in place? I’m worried it might wiggle some 😅

      Hi! I wear mine over sweaters and it doesn't want to move (unless of course you've tossed your jacked on over it, then you might want to adjust it when you remove your jacket). If you're wearing it around your neck without anything underneath it, it will only want to move if your sleeves touch it and rub it a bit - otherwise, it will stay where you put it :)

    Love the collar so sweet. But I'm almost a 16 neck size will the large still work for me?

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  4 роки тому

      Hi Debra, you can try a larger hook size to make it just a bit bigger OR you can create a slightly longer button hole :)

      Hi Stella, we currently don't have a pattern for children's sizing for this collar, but thank you for the suggestion!

    hi Jayda! love your videos. I have a question for you:
    I inherited Alot of knitting needles and yarn and incomplete projects from a nabor. how can I organize my new stuff? do you have incomplete projects?
    I do a lot of sewing and beading, with a little bit of crocheting. thank you for your time and videos!!

      Hi Alyondp, aren't you lucky! If you're planning on finishing the projects, but can't get to them right away, you might want to considered getting a nice big, plastic storage bin. These keep dust and bugs out and your projects (not to mention your yarn) nice and safe on the inside. I try very hard to finish my projects before starting into a new one, but I always have one or two in mid-work lying around (hence the storage bins!) :)

    It would look good with beads

      It does! I've made one or two of these in the past and sewn little tiny beads along the edge of it :)

      Hi Chel, you can use any crochet thread, size 3 that you like, so long as you don't find it bothers your neck! You can also order it from Amazon (I get a lot of my crochet thread there!)

    Do you think it will work with embroidery floss?? I have a bunch I'm trying to use up. Lol

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  7 років тому +1

      Hi Rosa, embroidery floss is nearing a size 10 crochet thread so it might be a bit small, you could give it a try and use the directions for the large. After the first row, try it around your neck :)

    Hi! Could this same pattern work with regular 4 ply yarn? I have a carron soft essentials skein that I would like to use. Thanks!

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  3 роки тому +1

      Hi! You'd probably end up using a larger hook (to accommodate the heavier weighted yarn) in which case the entire collar would size up rather a lot. Depending on how much yarn is in your skein of yarn, you might have better luck making yourself a lacy pair of fingerless gloves (lovely for this time of year!) We have a really pretty, simple and relatively quick tutorial for those here: ua-cam.com/video/QbCWzJUxfac/v-deo.html

    Hi Jayda,
    Excellent tutorial! Just wondering how I would go about making this in a Baby/child’s size? Is there a ‘multiple’ I can follow to adjust up and down sizes?

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  6 років тому

      Hi Lauren, you might have some luck using even thinner yarn and a smaller hook, that should downsize it enough for a smaller neck :)

      Hi Cyndi, a size 10 is nearly half the size of a size 3 so you might want to use the directions for the large collar and after the first row, try it around your neck to make sure it's not too small :)

    So I don't have a 3.75mm hook, just 3.5 and 4. I am trying to make this with either of these hooks (I do have the right thread) but I can't figure out the right starting chain length :(. My neck is 13 inches and my 3.5mm hook S version doesn't even close around my neck. I don't know how much length is added at the end with the border and button hole, and I can't figure out what would be a right foundation chain length when laying the foundation chain around my neck. Any advice?

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  5 років тому

      Hi! I would use the 4.00 mm hook, possibly the 4.25 mm hook if you don't mind it a little loose. You can also make your button hole a little longer if you need to :)

    Hi Jayda, where can I get the yarn needle with the wire eye at? I have looked around and can't find.

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  6 років тому

      Hi Dolores, that's a wool needle :) If you can't find a set at your local craft store (where they would sell yarn and knitting/crochet tools) than you might try ordering a set on line. We have links to a few sets for sale over on the SHOP page of our website (jaydainstitches.com) if you're interested in checking them out :)
