EVM 12L vs EVM 12L Black Shadow (Mesa)-playthrough Friedman amps

Electro voice speakers shootout comparison.
Guitars direct (DI) recorded, then re-amped through both EVM 12L speakers.
For the first part with the clean and wah guitar takes I used Friedman Twin Sister (head) with Suhr Standard Custom (left panned) and Brunetti Mercury 100 (head) with Fender Custom Deluxe Strat and Xotic wah pedal (right panned)
All mic’ed up with Royer R121 and Shure SM57
In the second part I swapped the speakers in the same Mesa Thiele cabinet mic’ed up with Superlux R102 mk2 (ribbon mic) playthru Fender strat custom deluxe LTD #86 master built by Yuriy Shishkov through Friedman Smallbox 50 (head)
The last part I play my 1992 PRS Custom 24, through the same EVM 12L speakers-the Black Shadow in its original Mesa Thiele cab and the 1997 EVM 12L-installed in a custom cabinet. I used the Plexi channel of the Friedman BE100 deluxe head (SM57 & Royer 121 mics) and Origin Cali 76 stacked edition compressor plugged in front.

The non Mesa EVM12L is a ProLine EVM12L, no wonder it sounds so dark and neutral, it was never supposed to be an instrument speaker.

The 0906 number on the back of the non Mesa EVM12L indicates a 300 Watt Proline series one while Mesa speaker is a regular 200W version.
